This is Lt. Commander Hoshino Ruri of the United Earth Space Fleet and captain of the battleship Nadesico. I know some things have happened lately and regret being unable to give proper support for them, but I'm learning the limits of what one person can do. Given technological differences is there anyone who was brought that has expertise in engineering, automation or advanced AI concepts? I've been working on a project that I suspect is several dozen if not over a hundred man hours and doing it alone has not proven to lead to being able to act quickly.

Also, if anyone knows where 06-09 in the Libra sector is, I would appreciate a tour. I haven't yet had enough time to screen all the map data for Omoikane so would probably get lost and once I finish up here I probably should see what sort of accommodations they have set aside for us here. Odds are that if I can't find a lake or something to put down in shuttling up and down may necessitate my staying there.

Er...sorry, no. We don't even have AI advanced enough for full automation back home.

There aren't many back on my home either. I'm lucky to have been paired with Omoikane though, just the Nadesico usually has a crew of several hundred not just me and the AI.

I have plans for the automation just not all of it is built.

Plans? Like, a schematic? If I have something to follow, I might be able to help.

Yes, there are schematics for all of this. It is just an issue of there is only one of me and Omoikane can't really do anything on his own.

Is there a purpose for this, or is it just something you want to have since you had it at home?

I'm much more trusting of an actual battleship and the ability to use that as a command and control center as opposed to these persona things.

What's a Persona? I've heard the word used before, but it was something I passed off as a dream.

I don't know either. It just seemed to be a... Word that seemed right.

But from the way you spoke, it sounded like you have some kind of idea. It's way too much of a coincidence to just pick that word.

Something in a dream, that's all. I've been working by myself the past week or so so maybe sometimes the waking world and the dream one seem similar.

Perhaps it has something to do with the technology they used to pull us here.

[Asem can't help but feel that each question answered provides a minimum of one more question to ask at this point.]

They had to have something to do it. Its not like they just used magic. I haven't seen it either, but I've written paper on faster than light travel and artificial wormhole technology.

[See this? This is a look of utter astonishment. Even Asem's father couldn't make such a boast. He manages to regain his bearings to an extent, though.]

That would be my guess, but I don't have enough data to give an actual answer.

Then that means we need to find evidence. I can start looking immediately.

That's one of the reasons I want to get the Automation working. That way I can use the data analysis gear on the ship.

I've got something to analyze data with me. It's meant for combat data, but it can definitely record any kind of info.

Omoikane's specialization is system intrusion and data recovery. I'm hoping once the systems are up I can link into well.... This place and start analyzing things directly.

Is there a way to do that? The network connections I've seen have been really old-fashioned.

As long as there is some wireless band we can adapt.
