This is Lt. Commander Hoshino Ruri of the United Earth Space Fleet and captain of the battleship Nadesico. I know some things have happened lately and regret being unable to give proper support for them, but I'm learning the limits of what one person can do. Given technological differences is there anyone who was brought that has expertise in engineering, automation or advanced AI concepts? I've been working on a project that I suspect is several dozen if not over a hundred man hours and doing it alone has not proven to lead to being able to act quickly.

Also, if anyone knows where 06-09 in the Libra sector is, I would appreciate a tour. I haven't yet had enough time to screen all the map data for Omoikane so would probably get lost and once I finish up here I probably should see what sort of accommodations they have set aside for us here. Odds are that if I can't find a lake or something to put down in shuttling up and down may necessitate my staying there.

I'm one of the lucky ones. Terraforming nanomachines are mostly safe, but interface and piloting ones can cause insanity, loss of senses or death in some.

Even with the treatments not everyone could be a pilot. It takes a considerable amount of skill and in many cases a certain mindset.

That's right. That's one thing that's the exact same between our worlds. You've got to have skill and determination, otherwise you'll just get killed.

I know some who would argue burning passion is needed in there, but those people are idiots.

It depends on who you ask. Its an old Earth anime which... Became something of a religion to the Jovians.

As long as humans are deceitful and selfish, there will be conflict.

Maybe conflict, but there doesn't have to be war.

Perhaps, I don't really know. People confuse me.

One thing I've learned is that few people are out-and-out evil. Most people do what they do because they believe it's the right thing to do. If people can understand that something they do is wrong, then if they're decent people, they'll stop.

I've seen greed to be a bigger motivator than the right thing. Be it for money, or power, or influence it has been what has driven most of the horrors I've seen.

Not here. That stopped with the signing of the Silver Chalice Treaty. They even destroyed all the weapons they had.

We never reached that level. The Earth wanted its resources, the Jovians wanted their justice. In the end it was ended because someone made it so neither could get what they wanted.

That neither could get what they wanted...
