This is Lt. Commander Hoshino Ruri of the United Earth Space Fleet and captain of the battleship Nadesico. I know some things have happened lately and regret being unable to give proper support for them, but I'm learning the limits of what one person can do. Given technological differences is there anyone who was brought that has expertise in engineering, automation or advanced AI concepts? I've been working on a project that I suspect is several dozen if not over a hundred man hours and doing it alone has not proven to lead to being able to act quickly.

Also, if anyone knows where 06-09 in the Libra sector is, I would appreciate a tour. I haven't yet had enough time to screen all the map data for Omoikane so would probably get lost and once I finish up here I probably should see what sort of accommodations they have set aside for us here. Odds are that if I can't find a lake or something to put down in shuttling up and down may necessitate my staying there.

[That's all he has to say about that. He feels a little sheepish now. With all of the strange occurrences here, he had thought for a moment that there was some sort of indigenous enemy.]

I think so. I came here with a gun and my mobile suit. I don't think they would have brought those things along with me if it was for anything but battle.

[He doesn't look too excited, though.]

There is also a full compliment of missiles on the Nadesico, and all of the reactors are fully loaded. So I conclude that there will be a target at some point.

Where is the ship, anyway? I didn't see it while flying over town.

I'm still in dock in the cancer district.

The Cancer District? I didn't realize they had enough room to store an entire ship. It looked like an electronics district to me...though kind of a weird one.

It is, and I think this is for when they bring something extra large over. I'll be moving soon as I'm not comfortable here.

I ended up leaving my mobile suit in a field in the Capricorn District. I don't think there's enough room to moor a battleship there, though. Should I look out for a better place?

I'm in discussion to find a lake or something. Water is easier than ground on the ship.

A lake? Sure. I didn't see any in the city, but if we go outside the city and find one, I'll let you know.

Though, the Earth Federation... Perhaps you may be from a different Earth? Last I remembered, Earth was still over 600 countries.

...Yeah, I think so. Like, you mentioned fighting against people from the Jupiter Sphere. We've never gone past Mars.

Mars is still under heavy repair, it was the first casualty of the Earth/Jovian war so... Yes.

Mars...repair? You mean there are settlements there? But what about the radiation?

Nanomachines regulate that. It was handled by the first terraformers over 150 years ago.

Nanomachines and terraforming...geez, the differences between our worlds are like the Space Age compared to the Industrial Revolution. That stuff is still property of science fiction back home.

To be fair, nanomachines have terrible side effects on some people. I'm just one of the lucky ones that is relatively undamaged by them.

...Oh. So maybe not quite as far as I thought.

Hopefully that kind of thing isn't too common.

I'm one of the lucky ones. Terraforming nanomachines are mostly safe, but interface and piloting ones can cause insanity, loss of senses or death in some.

...Well, at least not everyone can be a pilot.

Even with the treatments not everyone could be a pilot. It takes a considerable amount of skill and in many cases a certain mindset.

That's right. That's one thing that's the exact same between our worlds. You've got to have skill and determination, otherwise you'll just get killed.

I know some who would argue burning passion is needed in there, but those people are idiots.

...Yeah, no. Too much emotion is not a good thing.
