...I'd like to ask a few questions about these 'personas' we were given, if I may.

What is the nature of the contracts we've signed to receive them? What is the catch? What do they want from us in return?

[She's dealt with enough tricky contracts for one life-time, thanks.]

My memories of the time are foggy, and I would never have willingly agreed to anything of the sort so easily. I need to know what I've signed up for with these unusual abilities we've been given.

[She's refused to even try summoning it up to this point oops.]

That's all, thank you.

[voice, public]
[Viridi has learned her lesson.

...Well no she hasn't she never does, but she can at least recognize the fact that the people here were too stupid to be expected to understand why gods needed to communicate the way they did.  Or how, exactly, this sort of communication worked.

The telepathic broadcast is once again aimed to everyone within the city.  Instead of ringing directly in the ears of the unwashed masses, though, it seems to be reverberating from their communications devices instead.  There's an oddly echoing quality to it, and they'll find that her voice is impossible to shut off through the COMP, but hey.  She tried.]

So.

You've all been busy.  Paying visits to the mysterious 'Velvet Room', huh?

I couldn't help but notice that you're all practically lining up out the door to do favors for some strangers you don't know from Adam.  I'd call it altruistic, but we all know you're just hoping to get some shiny trinkets out of it.  A new weapon here, a better Persona there...  Call me crazy, but it's almost like you're making offerings in the hopes of receiving a blessing from some higher power you're pretty sure is benevolent.  Isn't it weird how familiar that sounds?  And you know, come to think of it, I could use a spare hand for some fetch quests, too.  Since you're all just so eager to be helpful, I'm sure you have time to spare.

Of course, I don't need anyone's faith, but a few favors here and there might just mean some handy-dandy divine intervention in your future.  I'm a goddess of my word.

You can even ask Pit!  My Treasure Hunt board had the ideal balance of difficulty to reward.  Palutena's was the lamest thing ever and Hades basically made his for sadists.  So act fast!  Once I've got what I want, you're just plain old out of luck.

1st Conception - Video

[The communication starts with a hissing sound, like you'd hear in a low burn, and then focuses on the source of the noise: two skillets being set down on the burners of a stove. Around the counter viewers can make out cooking ingredients: a stick of butter, margerine, salt, eggs, chocolate, a whipping spoon. After a few seconds Hikawa begins to speak.]

As odd as it might seem to introduce myself in such a way, I would like to take a survey. A survey dealing on culinary tastes, you might say, to see what people would prefer.

It will be a simple choice focusing on two types of simple egg dishes. Most people seem to enjoy eggs, whether they be scrambled, poached, sunny side up, or what have you. But now matter how you might enjoy them there is a single base for all of them: butter.

[On camera the man takes a knife and, cutting a part from the block of butter, puts it into one of the skillets where it begins to melt.]

Not only does butter add flavor to the egg, but it keeps it from sticking to the pan and being burnt. But for the sake of those who perhaps don't like butter, let us try another substance to take its place. Let us say...chocolate.

[Hikawa breaks off a chunk of the chocolate in front of him and puts it in the other skillet. It begins to melt, sizzling a bit. Afterwards Hikawa breaks four eggs, putting two in each skillet and stirring each one as he continues to speak.]

While one might experiment in cooking, cooking also has rules that in the end cannot be denied if you want a satisfactory meal. You can replace some things in a dish, but you can't replace others, and if you go to far in your experimentation you make a dish none can enjoy instead of all.

So tell me. Which would you prefer. The eggs made with butter-

[He focuses the camera, showing a skillet of neat, well-made scrambled eggs.]

Or the dish made with chocolate?

[The other skillet, however, is not fairing so well. Much of the chocolate has burnt and stuck to the sides of the skillet, while turning the eggs it has mixed in an ugly brownish color. It seems to have failed as well to keep the eggs from sticking to the pan, as much of the eggs themselves is burnt into the metal of it, leaving streaks of white and yellow gunk along with burnt brown.]

[audio]

The message starts with a sharp squeal of static, as if the COMP is a badly tuned radio or something, before it dies down a little and a cheerful voice starts babbling.

"Hiii~! So I was wondering something, and I thought I'd just throw it out on the network like this to get an answer and all."

There's the sound of fabric rustling, as if whoever's on the other side of the transmission is shifting nervously.

"So I noticed a bunch of people have, like, clean clothing, and I was just wondering what's up with that? I mean, how does it happen? My clothes are still covered in scorpion goo, and I don't have any spares or nothing, so it'd be super nice if someone could tell me how all you other folks are getting clean things."

There's a slight pause before the voice lowers to a whisper and hisses out,

"is it witchcraft?!"

With that, the message ends.

[Joshua is holding his wrist out before him, smiling at the watch's camera. This thing is interesting... this whole place, really, is interesting to him. He's sitting in a cafe, with a steaming cup of coffee in his hand. While aware of his need to spare the money he had for food here- after all he was practically human again- it did good to rest his nerves.]

I've been investigating this extra thirteenth hour in the day as others are calling it. It's quite interesting, really, for more reasons than one. Most interestingly... restrictions on my abilities are lifted during the Thirteenth Hour.

[In other words, he's completely human every other hour of the day, and that's incredibly frustrating.]

I'm perfectly aware that there are those here who are more experienced with this world than I am. I'd like to know more about the Thirteenth Hour, if it's possible. What exactly it is, why it exists, what effects it has on this world... Anything you can tell me~

Not much going on lately... I guess that's not really a bad thing, though. Still, I could stand to get out and do something that isn't either reading or seances. Anybody know a good place to go for fun around here? Hell, if you wanna come along, my treat. I get my fair share of business anyway.

I wish to return home.

[The voice was slightly filtered because it came from the external speakers on his helmet but it was still easily intelligible, if accented awkwardly.]

Yes, yes, it is most likely not possible. I don't even have to ask that as a question but my wish still stands.

It's just everyone here is so.... [disgusting, gross, ignorant, red blooded] ....human. Among gue'la, there is no place for someone of the Fire Caste. Too peaceful, too ignorant, you stare too much.

A sword that is broken can still cut but...

...what should I do?

[He slowly realized that rather than using this to complain, he was pleading for help instead, which made him a little mad. Which caused him to shut off the feed.]

[ The feed clicks on, showing one Integra Hellsing sitting in what... would appear to be her apartment. She doesn't seem to be quite as roughed up as she had been when she first arrived; granted, she's bruised and scraped up, but she looks overall better.

She's sipping at a small cup of tea; it certainly isn't what Walter, her poor, dear lost Walter would have made, but this is something she'll have to get used to regardless. ]

I suppose it's about time that I get around to introducing myself. My name is Sir Integra Hellsing. I come from England, and before anyone questions the 'Sir', I am a knight under Her Majesty the Queen. Like I have heard a few others state, I, too, am a hunter of monsters.

[ She lights up a cigar, her neutral mask never slipping. This is her last one... she's going to have to go out and find something similar, much to her horror. ]

I'm not going to ask if anyone from my own home world has arrived. I believe I already know the answer to that. Instead, I want to offer something. Protection, you could say, from things that go bump in the night... if I am to be stuck here for however long, then it is my duty to offer as much protection to all of you as I possibly can give. If the time or need arises, don't hesitate to contact me.

[The feed snaps on to show Asem, looking as official as he can, though a bit nervous.]

Excuse me! This is important, so please listen to what I have to say.

Something of mine has gone missing. It's like...I guess you could call it a robotic pet? But it also does important stuff for what I do. It's round, green, and has a pair of flaps that it likes to flutter, and it moves around by either rolling or bouncing.

--Actually, wait. I've got a picture.

If you see it, can you let me know? Or try to catch it, but it's...tricky. Thanks in advance, and that's it for now.

[After this, you may see the Haro bouncing or rolling around the city. If you try to chase it, however, be warned -- Haros are notoriously slippery!]

[Luca, before this, hadn't really been using the video feature. It was inconvenient to do and her voice worked just as well, right? But an official post merits looking her best and using video! ... and broadcasting from Lady Cloche's stuffed animal-filled room, instead of her Dive Machine-filled room.]

Hi, Hinoto-Ri! [She sits neatly on the bed, hands folded demurely in her lap.] My name is Luca. Luca Trulyworth. I've spoken to a few of you, but, eheh... it never hurts to introduce yourself again! [She leaves the cute, dopey smile on her face for a moment, then drops it in favor of a more polite smile.]

I don't want to take up a lot of your time, so I'll get to the point. Lady Cloche and I have been thinking about the best way to explain the Song Magic we use. And, well, I think a demo would work great! That way, anyone interested can see it up-close, live, in-person! [smile smile smile] Doesn't that sound like fun?

Song Magic is an important part of our lives as Reyvateils. It's also how we fight. So, think of it like... a cultural experience and a combat tutorial! [She bows her head, and her tone grows somber.] We're all hoping nothing dangerous happens again but... in case it does, Lady Cloche and I would like you to know- [She places her hand over her chest.] How to fight with us or, if anything bad happens... against us. [She drops the hand to her lap with a smile.]

If you're interested, please let us know! We made a list of Songs we can sing... because, well- maybe, if you guys had one you really wanted to see? Was yea ra chs hymmnos mea. We're happy to sing for you. [With that, she stands to give a large, formal bow to the camera.]

[Should you choose to open it there is an optional attachment to the post, describing the girls' Song Magic.]

First contact

The video broadcasts a man in his mid-twenties with his hair and eyes the exact same shade of green. He looks at the camera with little expression.

"I have observed it is customary to introduce oneself on this communication network. Therefore, greetings. My name is Gale of the Embryon Tribe. I ask that if the word Atma means anything to you, reply to my message. I am looking for others from 'my world'."

Looking for Sparring Partner...!

[It had been a while ever since his first post, to be honest, and really, considering he was freaking out in the remainder of the month, he had good reasons to avoid the network for a while.

...Now, though. He's going to just stare as it recorded, scratching his chin with his right index finger.]

I don't think I've ever asked this before, but how many of you here practice swordsmanship? That is, the art of the sword.

[This is certainly awkward for him, as he's not kinda used to making open posts like this.]

I'm looking for a sparring partner right now, so if you're interested, feel free to contact me.

[Well, weirdness of her first day here aside, Rise really ought to introduce herself properly.]

Heeeey, Hinoto-Ri! I'm new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Rise Kujikawa, and if you can hear this, just Rise is fine. I'm sixteen and a Gemini, since that's apparently important here!

Uh, more to the point, I'm from a world that already had Personas, even if there were a lot fewer of us who used them. I may be new here, but Kanzeon and I fought Shadows with my friends for months, so if anyone needs someone experienced with analysis Persona, I'm your girl! I've also been told I'm an okay singer and actress, on the off chance that ever comes up.

In exchange, though, can...someone fill me in on what we're supposed to do? I'm all for saving the city and protecting people, but I'm used to a little bit more direction...

[She pauses and thinks, visibly. She might be exaggerating the thinking posture a little.]

Oh, and Yu-senpai? Can you message me back so I can ask you a question? Thanks!

[The COMP turns on, showing a rather perky looking redhead waving to the camera. Truth be told, she was marveling over the communicator before turning it on for her broadcast.]

Hi there! My name's Shiki Misaki and I guess I'm new around here. I just wanted to know where I could buy a sewing machine and a dressmakers dummy. Oh, and where I can buy some fabric too~ If I'm going to be here for a while, I wouldn't want my sewing skills to get rusty!

I know how to make clothes [She gestures to the outfit she's wearing. Yep, she made that!] and stuffed animals [And suddenly Mr. Mew makes an appearance! Shiki makes him wave to the camera before putting him away.]. Maybe once I get all settled in, I could sell them! I've always wanted to do that...

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to watch this. Bye!

[End of transmission.]

[video] she totally just tried to kill that robot but it didn't work

[There isn't a person shown on the feed; the unique bobbing motion of the camera quickly betrays this as being recorded from a first person view. Someone observant may note that the person filming this is either rather young, rather short, or both - the view's closer to the ground than your average adult.

It starts out trained on one of the standard design service robots that largely populate the Sagittarius ward, and follows it at a lagging pace for a while as it performs some inscrutable task of maintenance on a series of structural supports. A delicate hand raises into view, palm outstretched towards the robot, almost looking expectant for something to happen - but nothing does. Eventually, Klara gives up on the chase and sits down, and her disused voice is revealed when she speaks in a sulking tone:]

Well babes, it looks like Michel's birthday is today and he's turning 17! And considering that's not exactly something any of you would know, he doesn't mind telling you himself! [Because he can, and he likes to show off.

It's going to be quite lonely without the rest of his friends or Miyabi to celebrate, truthfully. But he's intent on making the most of it.]

So! He requires that you share your secrets and tell him the finest Karaoke establishment you've discovered that you think the city has to offer!
