3. [Text, locked to the Network]

Hello, everyone! \(=^‥^)/’

I have a request for the Network today. I don't know if there's enough time for this before the tournament, but I fight with a naginata and it's really conspicuous to just carry around. Since we have some great engineers here, I was wondering if someone would be able to design a naginata that could fold up or retract to fit into a handbag. I'll pay you for the trouble, of course.

And also in exchange - Well, not really in exchange, because this part is open to everyone! But the tournament uses Evokers, which is a pretty different style of Persona-summoning from usual. I use an Evoker normally, so if anyone would like to practice with one, or practice with a Persona in general, I'd be glad to help out! I'll be down in the Capricorn ward if you'd like to meet me there.

And, that's all I have for today. Thanks for reading!

[METHOD_ENTRY_002] [VIDEO]

[Bright and early on the morning of the fifth of January, Cloche's network feed clicks on. The camera bounces with her steps as she walks down the streets of the Pisces Ward with purpose. She doesn't know quite where she's going yet, but she's clearly going somewhere. And she's very clearly furious.]

Good morning. [From Cloche's tone of voice, this is not a good morning. This is a terrible morning. This is a morning that's clearly out to ruin the rest of her day with a trashy gossip magazine.] If anyone else on the COMP Network has received a copy of the January 4th, 10AC issue of--[Here, her expression twists into one of distaste.]--"Teen Beats Magazine," I demand they delete it immediately. It is a lewd and slanderous piece of trash that besmirches the good names of no less than twelve of the Guests!

[Including Cloche herself. Oh, she's going to ring somebody's bell alright. But absolutely not in the way that the article implies.]

As for myself, I'm attempting to locate their offices to demand they take down their-- lascivious article at once. No forms of consent were given. Permission was not granted! They have no legal standing to drag our names through the mud. I absolutely won't stand for it!

[Click! Well, it's pretty obvious someone doesn't have a good sense of humor about being included on the Sexy Visitor Watch... Cloche and her, ahem, two good friends are marching up, in person, to vehemently protest the article and complain loudly to whoever runs the magazine.]

First Star of Fate ☯

[Hey it's one of those newcomers on the Network today! This particular girl is sitting with perfect posture, dipping her head in a polite bow to the camera.]

Hello, my name is Aoi Misato. I'm sorry for not formally introducing myself before, but it took me a few days to settle in.

According to the news report that recently went out, we will be allowed to participate in the Grand Prix, correct? I'm interested in joining the competition, but to do that I would need to practice first. I still haven't awakened my... Persona yet, so I will have to rely on my own abilities instead.

[She continues without even missing a beat, completely glossing over that small stumble. She's obviously used to speaking publicly.]

I will be in the Capricorn district, so if anyone is willing to be a sparring partner, I would be extremely grateful.

[A small pause here. She can practically hear half of her friends from home scolding her for this, but...]

I also have noticed that I am exempt from curfews due to being a visitor. I was thinking of patrolling at night - does anyone have advice for dealing with the demons at that time? There was a... similar situation where I come from, so I would like to do what I can to help here as well.

Thank you for your time.

[Action; Capricorn]

[And sure enough, Aoi is indeed in the Capricorn district, dressed in a hakama and armed with a naginata. With no current sparring partner, she is instead practicing strikes on an invisible opponent. She definitely has the technique down, if nothing else.]

003

[pseudo-voice... or is it???]
Attention, peons!

[Viridi's voice echoes once again with its usual Message From the Divine manner.  Nothing out of the ordinary here.]

...OK, look, I'm not going to pretend I like you humans any more than I did before, but for what it's worth, I guess you're not all completely horrible.  I mean, you're still active participants in a culture that exploits nature, hastens the death of the planet, and imprisons livestock in horrifying conditions, but I'll give you a step up to 'Mostly Horrible' since it seems like some of you actually care about restoring this planet.

[This can be interpreted as a major concession for Viridi.  ...Some form of concession, anyway.]

Anyway.  I've talked about that stuff so much even I'm tired of hearing it.  Let's move on to the real topic.  Take a look at this.

[The COMPS will automatically activate their video feed as what appears to be a prerecorded message begins to play.  It displays Mt. Utsugi in Gemini District - and the time stamp in the bottom corner displays 23:59:45.  Those who have been in Gemini District during the 13th Hour will know what's coming.  At the stroke of midnight, without any fanfare whatsoever, the mountain will quietly and seamlessly raise itself from the ground, contort horribly, and mutate into a horrifying amalgation of stone and clockwork and steel.]

There!  I'm sure some of you have seen that in action.  The question is, why isn't anyone trying to investigate what's obviously the main dungeon of this RPG?  I mean, just look at it!  If we're here for any reason at all, it's to march into that abomination and stamp out the final boss!  There's no reason not to storm in there right now and shake the bull by the horns until it moos!

...I mean.  Aside from the part where some stupid apes think they know better than a goddess - not you guys this time.  I can get around them, but barring some form of mass destruction, I don't think they're letting you through.  ...But that doesn't mean you should sit around on your butts twiddling your thumbs waiting for permission!  As entertaining as it is watching you live your pedestrian, quotidian lives, you need to be prepared to do so some serious demon fighting when it comes up.  And it's going to come up.

So here's where I come in.  Call it... divine intervention.

[The feed flickers from the view of the Mictlan into a view of a petite, nine-year-old girl.  This would be the first time since she came here that Viridi has shown her face.]

Alright, the first person who says anything about how I'm a little girl is getting turned into a rat.  I'm serious.  Rats don't live happy lives; don't test me.

Now listen closely.  It's demeaning enough having to say it once, so I'd rather not repeat myself.  ...In my world, gods traditionally choose heroes and mediators to act and fight on their behalf, because if it isn't obvious, having gods throwing punches at each other generally doesn't work out for the longevity of the world.  As might be obvious, my generals aren't here.  That means I need someone to work through.

You can see where this is going.  If you want to fight demons, but you're not sure you can handle it on your own, I'm willing to Support you. Criteria - Don't take this for granted.  Don't talk about the environment unless you agree with me.  For both of our sakes.  And don't be really annoying.  That's more on a person-to-person basis, but just as a general scale: Hades - really annoying, Dark Pit - pretty darn annoying, and Pit - more tolerable than annoying except when he sings.

The perks for you are the Power of Flight, teleportation, access to my sanctuary, hearing the melodious sound of my voice, and getting Supported by a goddess.  And yes, the Power of Flight means you can fly.  Five minutes maximum before you fall - don't yell at me if you go over because I didn't make the rules on this.  I can only really do one person at a time, so this is a first-come first-serve sort of deal.  ...Now see how selfless this all is?  I am nice.

[Viridi pauses at the end of her speech.]

What is with this stupid weather, anyway?  Is this the century where global warming begins?

((Basically, this translates to periodic fighting logs!  I've discovered that I'm rather fond of running those so I'd like to do it more often.  I'll just be throwing up a demon-fighting log every now and then with Viridi acting as Support for you.

Also Viridi is serious about the rat thing.  Don't respond ICly with that line if you don't want her casting Ani on you.  Or do so if you want that!))

Exaltation the Second [Video]

[A wild Secret appears! She looks like she's making sure that her COMP is working before she starts talking - clearly unused to making video communications.]

Um. Right. I've been here for a while, and I guess it's about time that I should actually introduce myself.

So, hello, Hinoto-ri. My name is

[she pauses, looking apprehensive, inhales deeply, and then...]

The Most Secret And Sorrowful Of The Bearers Of The Endless Destiny Of All Creation Which Wander Amidst Forgotten Sights And Fallen Tears Along the Tread Of Ancient Ashen Footsteps Through The Shadow Of That Which Comes And Into That Riotous Cacophony Which Births All Fools And Steals All Beauty, Who Heralds Through Her Silence The Stillness And Chill Of Those Who Were Not Born And Who Will Not Fade 'Till All Things Fall And In That Most Grim Harvest Form The Final Restful Tomb Of All Awakened Life And All The Sleepless Dead.

[She pants, letting her breath catch up. She does seem a little bit proud about getting that all out without passing out, though]

My friends just call me Secret.

Anyhow, I was kind of wondering about the places the rest of you come from, and I have a question that might seem a little weird - do your worlds have Exalts?

001

[More information? One new arrival, at least, has all the information she needs. The influx of energy from this one is massive, completely unsubtle, almost as if purposefully designed to attract the attention of anyone with any sense whatsoever of the divine. It doesn’t fade away nor does it seem to be easily localized. This surely wasn’t ‘Magatama Energy’…

Whatever ambiguity this might present is cleared up almost immediately. Despite that no one may be in the vicinity, the voice of a young girl sounds clearly throughout the city of Hinoto-Ri to nearly every inhabitant, as intelligibly as if the speaker were standing right next to those she addressed. …Perhaps too intelligibly. The first sound they hear is an vehement, despairing cry.]

NO!

This can’t be…! The forests… The oceans… The deserts and mountains, the tundra and the plains! W-Where are they?! Who did this?! What did you do to them?!

[For a few moments, the speaker seems too overwhelmed with ire to speak.  The sound of her breathing eventually slows...]

Humans. Look at this world. Look at it!

I knew this would happen.  In every world across every dimension, it doesn’t matter! You -- you’re all the same! See for yourself! This is what will happen if you tear through all of nature without respect for anything but your own wealth and gain! Are you happy?! My children… 100 million species. One hundred million. There's almost nothing left...

I am Viridi, Goddess of Nature, ruler of the Earth and all living things! And I will not allow this land to be desecrated any further.

They say there are monsters ravaging what remains. If you stand against them, then... heed the command of a goddess and CRUSH them!

Excuse me.

[Latooni opens the video conversation in her usual polite way. She appears to be somewhere in the Virgo district, and those of you who are really good at reading deadpan facial expressions might think she looks a bit annoyed. She's also wearing one of her dresses for some reason.]

Now that things have settled down a little, does anyone here know where I might find "a warm, sweet drink that I can dye blue?" It can be alcoholic or not, although if it is I might need someone's help to buy it. I'm just having trouble finding anything that's white or clear and meant to be served warm other than plain milk, and I don't think that's acceptable...

3rd Screw [Action]

[It's been a while since the Skorpius attack, and Nano's finally gotten some time to decompress, unwind, and get to know her Persona.  She's even made some friends around town, so she's feeling a lot more confident and much more like she has a place in her new surroundings.  Unfortunately, in Hinoto-ri, she can't live on a stipend like she does at home with Hakase and Sakamoto, so she's found herself having to look for a part-time job to support herself.  Since she already does all of the cooking at home, a cafe sounded like a good fit.  The manager of the establishment Nano found first took one look at the wind-up key in her back and offered her the job immediately.  What she didn't know at the time, however, was that she'd actually accepted work at a maid cafe.

Nano was rather surprised at the uniform they expected her to wear when she showed up to work the first day - a pink and white maid's cosplay outfit.  It's decked out with the lace headband, frills everywhere, thigh high stockings, white leather shoes... the whole nine yards.  Between the costume and the key in her back, there is some pretty powerful moe going on here.  And despite Nano's embarrassment, she's very conscientious and dedicated once she's made a commitment, so she's doing her best to make sure the customers are happy.  The fact that she's blushing from head to toe and shuffling around nervously for most of the day only adds to the overall effect her outfit is having on the patrons.  She greets every new arrival with a smile and a polite bow of the head.]

A-ah... welcome home, master!

ITP: Deliveries

Hello. My name is Arturia Pendragon. Some of you may have met me a month ago when I handed out flyers saying I would starting a delivery business soon.

My moped has been converted to use the type of engine needed here. [She just has to give the mechanic free deliveries for two months to pay for it and top priority. Sob.] As of today I will be making deliveries in the afternoons once school lets out and before sunset. Simply send me a message during that time to let me know the pick up and delivery location, and I will have it delivered in a half hour or less.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Exaltation the first [voice]

Okay, so... chosen soul, destined to do battle and determine the fate of the world, etcetera, etcetera. Same old, same old. What I want to know is what's up with this whole "car" thing? How does that work?

Also, you have no idea how lucky you guys are with this whole "you get magic for free" thing.

Really, really lucky.

Sagittarius Branch: Hiring [video]

Hello, everyone, and good evening.

[Typical lab background, typical labcoat- the only odd thing about Ideo today is that he's still sporting a bandage around his forehead.]

I wanted to formally extend an offer of employment, in light of all that has happened as of late. The Sagittarius Labs are dedicated to research and development in relation to demonic incidents- and we're looking for anyone and everyone who has any history in this subject, or even those willing to learn. I've spoken to the others, and we're in the process of contacting people for a job fair of sorts...but, well...

[Ideo gave an awkward sort of laugh.]

I figured I would get the jump on the competition? Speaking of, I have at least one hire, I know- Mr. Hotsuin, any time you can stop down, I can give you your COMP upgrade.

That is all, thank you.

SECOND MACHINE: NEW [TEXT] EDITION

[ He's still not sure this is a good idea. However, it's something he's curious about. ]

I have a question or two, for everyone.

How many of you have recieved/awakened a Persona? How many of you haven't? I haven't awoken mine, yet. Are there people who would be willing to assist with awakening one?

Please let me know.

[ He has no idea how to persona, but this curious phenomena he saw means he's curious. And curious means network post. ]

{ video } III.

Hinoto-Ri seems like a...chaotic place. It sort of reminds me of home. { She smiles a mite awkwardly. } But I don't feel like I'm doing enough...for the people.

Is there some cause that grabs your attention? Are you worried about something?

Maybe there's something we can do about it. Together. I...have some experience... { Okay a lot of experience. } in diplomacy. I'd really like to put it to use to make Hinoto-Ri a safer and happier place.

002 [Video/Public]

[The screen flickers on to a boy wearing an amused grin.]

Everyone!

I've got good news!  You're forgiven!  The angel I summoned said so himself; God would definitely forgive you in a heartbeat because man's heart is weak, as is his mind, and we're all, uh, susceptible to the workings of the Evil One, and even as we wallow in our filth and sin, we -- You know what, forget God; I forgive you.

Seriously, no one could possibly blame you for what happened last week even if some of us were lucky enough to be scorpion magnets.  Misery has it right - the important thing is to make sure that it doesn't happen again.  If you all missed the announcements from the higher-ups, the people who were affected most severely were Scorpios.  ...If you don't know what that means, in modern times on Earth - that's the 2000s - they were born when the Sun was in the sector of the sky dominated by the constellation Scorpio.  This makes no sense if you were born outside Earth or in a time when we didn't go in for ridiculous things like pretending arbitrary sky-pictures meant anything about our lives, but the important thing is that the sun transitions into Scorpio beginning on October 23rd.

Guess what last week was.

The next sign is Sagittarius.  The sun will shift into its sector on November 22nd.

So let's clear a few things out of the way - Everyone who was afraid, can you report in with your sign?  Same thing if you were a scorpion magnet, though maybe that's more of a subjective thing.  And everyone who's a Sagittarius, do you mind if we tie you to your beds from November, oh, 18th-ish to the 23rd?  Your choices are (Yes/Of course/Definitely).  If your name is Jun, (That's kinda kinky) works, too.  If you don't know your sign, Sagittarius goes from late November into late December - so the end of a harvest season into winter in the Northern hemisphere, and the end of spring into summer in the South.

I'll keep track of the data.  It's kinda my thing.

Oh -- this has nothing to do with anything, but I'm working in the computer labs of the university now.  Drop by if you ever need anything fixed or if you just want to say hi.

The questions and the answers

[ A video post to the COMP network ]

[ Garviel stares into the screen for a moment his helm removed, his expression... pensive. ]

What defines humanity? At what point is someone so altered they are no longer human, and what emotions can we lose before are are not even remotely humane? I am curious.

[ video ]

I know it's kind of dumb to apologize for something I couldn't control completely, but... I'm sorry I freaked out like so many of us did earlier this week. I usually have a lot more control over myself than I did then. As a Master, I really should have been more composed and helping others who were afflicted than simply-

[She pauses, looking a little sheepish before she continues:]

...um, to anyone who may have been flung out a window or hit by those who were when I panicked...? I'm even more sorry. That was my bad.

[Yeah... she's just going to stop talking now. orz]

[Voice]

[She's been here for nearly ten days now. It's very strange, and different. She's not used to feeling this... isolated. Back home, she'd always travelled with Roxas and Axel, and even at Disney Castle it always seemed more... together. If she'd felt lonely, or had a nightmare or something, she could go find one of her friends. Not quite so simple here - the only person she considered a friend she had from home didn't... didn't remember. Not really.

Sure, it was for a good cause, being here. But that didn't mean it was easy.]

It's really strange... there's a lot we have here that we don't have at home, but... there opposite is true too. And...

[Ugh no, this isn't helping. She's probably not even making sense.]

Sorry. I guess I don't know what I'm trying to say.

So... does... anybody have friends they miss who are back home?

a mythology lesson none of you asked for

[It's deadly silent, despite the fact Elizabeth is obviously in her room -- if the first-person perspective of the camera is anything to go by. It's lit by pale blue spotlights, giving it an oddly serene look --

but Elizabeth's voice, rising in its usual lilt, turns serene into eerie. It's only shortly after Ideo's post, and she's rather amused by the content of it. But no matter; she's here to talk.]

In Greek mythology, Thanatos was the son of Nyx and Erebus -- the goddess of the night, and the personification of darkness. He had a twin brother named Hypnos, who was the god of peaceful sleep, as well as many siblings whose names have been lost to the common tongue as they have faded into obscurity. While Thanatos is the god of death, he is a god of a merciless, peaceful death -- but many other deaths, such as those caused by the violent hands of man, have been counted in his arsenal.

Thanatos is an indiscriminate god. He hates all and is hated by all, for he is the torrent that extinguishes life.

[A small sigh.]

It is truly a pity, that such a magnificent figure would suffer such a tragedy. And he has even been outwitted in a few myths. However, that is only how mankind thinks of him. Every god must have a folly, in order for man to relate to him, despite the fact they are thought of as deities -- those beyond the reach of humanity.

[...But none of this is her point, and she - and her camera - look at her lap, where the Compendium lays. Her hands are folded neatly against it, and she laughs -- a little too cheerfully.]

Your kind has always fascinated me. [She drums her fingers on the leather book, almost thoughtfully.] Perhaps I would learn more about you if I were to let Thanatos tear you apart?

[She turns her gaze to a mirror she's placed beside her chair, and observant people might notice red eyes before she licks her fingers and turns off the feed, like wetting a candlewick.]

ITP: Fight or flight

[She's been nervous lately, an ice-cold feeling in the pit of her stomach that had started shortly before her uncle's arrival. It reminds her, vaguely, of when the Blood Fort had gone up around the school and she, Rin, and their Servants had been frantic to bring it down to save the students. Arturia had never before felt such fear, had never felt such urgency as far as she could remember, and it's the same as now. It's as if she can tell something dangerous is coming, something that could lay waste to everyone here and it will be a battle that not even the mightiest among them could hope to come out of alive.

Her only instinct is to fight, but she has nothing to fight. Not yet. There's only so many demons she can fight at night and with her uncle here she has to be more careful to keep him from worrying. Nonetheless, she needs to do something to combat this strange feeling and there's only one thing she can think of:]

I find I have neglected my training since arriving here. Tell me, would anyone like to spar with me in the Capricorn Ward? I would prefer a fellow swordsman, but any others willing would do.
