Good day everyone, and welcome to all of our newcomers! My name is Elizabeth Middleford, and I hail from Her Majesty Queen Victoria's time. If you are a Londoner around, do feel free to ask for my apartment number so you can drop by for tea. If you aren't a Londoner, feel free to ask anyways! I do love meeting new people, and I would certainly love the chance to entertain you and help you get settled into the city life. It's quite unlike any city life you've had before, to be sure!

[She clears her throat and smooths down the front of her dress a little nervously.]

There is a matter of business that I must attend to, as well, since I'm here and recording. Miss Ruri and I have been working on getting her ship Nadesico into working order to become a boarding house, and now it's ready. As of today, we are opening it to any and all ladies who wish to join. To be quite honest, I'm not sure how well-received it will be or how to manage it if some of you do decide to join, but I promise that the foundations will remain true to any other boarding house. The Nadesico will be your haven and home if you so wish it, with sisters who can support you through times of trouble, if you so need it.

[She smiles brightly.]

Thanks. I've got something important I store in the hangar. It's safe there, and it's the most appropriate place to put it. If this gets off the ground, am I going to have to store it someplace else?

Well, we certainly don't anticipate actually flying unless it's an emergency, so your item will be just fine. If we do end up flying, I'll personally see that it is taken care of.

Thanks. But I'm betting that if something has it up in the air, I'll be flying it out of the hangar myself.

Oh, it's another flying contraption, then! Well in that case, don't worry, it would certainly be a hassle to keep it anywhere else, and I would hate to inconvenience you. I'm sure if you already have it stored there that you have some prior arrangement with Miss Ruri already.

[Well, that's only true half the time. Asem doesn't bother correcting her, though.]

Yeah, I do. And I was hoping I could keep it there. Just asking to make sure. Never hurts to cover your bases, right?

Oh, certainly! It is only right to be thorough. If I may ask, is your flying contraption a 'space ship' like the Nadesico is?

Oh, no, it's not. It's a mobile suit -- a giant, mechanical humanoid that I can get in and pilot.

...oh. [She's trying hard to imagine it but she really can't.]

Would you mind terribly if I went into the hangar to peek at it?

[Asem can't help but wonder why so many people are interested in his Gundam...]

Um, go ahead. There's two in there, though. Mine's the all-white one.

It's taller than any building I've ever seen!

Really? But it's only 18.3 meters tall.

A boarding house on a battleship?

[She thinks on this for a moment.]

Well, I've been keeping the Wildraubtier there already, and I'm used to living on a ship that's a lot like the Nadesico anyway, so if you and Lt. Com. Hoshino are offering...

Oh, we are, we most certainly are!

Then I'm happy to accept. It will at least save me a walk every evening.

Lovely! [She practically bounces with excitement.] Come over to the Capricorn district where we've set up at your convenience, I'll be here to help get you settled. What is your name, by the way?

Latooni Suvota. It's nice to meet you, Elizabeth.

As it is to meet you, Miss Latooni! It will be wonderful to have another person on the ship. It's rather quiet right now as it is.

Uh...I'm pretty quiet myself. I think the Lieutenant Commander and I have that in common.

"I'm not sure I understand what a boarding house is... can you explain?"

A traditional boarding house is a building where owners provide rooms and meals to paying lodgers. I use the term a little loosely, to be honest, since any girls who would be applying would unfortunately need to make their own meals and do their own chores, but it's the same in every other sense!

"So it's like a private dorm for girls?" On the one hand, girls girls girls. On the other hand, she rather liked her tiny apartment.

"I'll have to think on it..."

Yes, that's precisely it! [She beams.] Take your time, we have plenty of space for you if you do decide to join us.

[Londoner. That must mean...]

I've never heard of a planet called London.

Oh, London is a city, not a planet! It is on a planet, though, a planet called Earth.

Earth is unknown to me too. Is that a gue'la planet?

A...what planet?

Gue'la. Gue means human and la refers to what is most common. So a common human planet.

Well...I wouldn't say common, since there's only one Earth. Or, at least, that I know of. But we are a human planet, so yes, I suppose we could be a gue'la planet.

There are a lot of human planets. But...that would make sense. Your planet has a Queen?

My home country has a queen, but others don't.

A... boarding house? For girls only?

[She's never really heard of anything like that before.]

Yes. Would you possibly be interested?

Is that like a hotel, or a school dormitory?

Oh, like a boy's dormitory? I suppose it'd be closer to that, then, instead of a hotel.

That sounds nice. Like a big community where everyone knows each other.

Yes, that's exactly the point! It's like-- well, I'm not asking everyone to love each other like sisters right at the first meeting, but I hope that one day we can know each other well enough to call each other sisters.

How much is the rent...? I wonder if I'm making enough money to afford it.

We haven't decided on rent yet, but don't worry, we don't intend to ask for much. We want this to be your home while you're here in Hinoto-Ri. Of course, we hope you'll help with chores and other such things, but we won't press anything on you!

[It had taken Sora awhile to figure out how to use the COMP, and probably quite a bit of help to understand what it even was. But now that he has, and sort of gets what's going on, he's pretty fascinated by the whole thing. Which means that he's going to talk to EVERYONE EVER, starting here.]

What's London? Is that the world you came from?

[Or, at least, he guesses that the place is just called "London", since she said Londoners. Normally, Sora wouldn't just ask a question like that - world order concerns and all - but since pretty much everyone who used this (he thought) was from a different world or knew about other worlds, what could it hurt?]

Oh no, London is a city on the world I come from. The actual world is called Earth.

Really? You must be from a pretty big world, then!

[Hey, most of the worlds he's been to are only one or two cities.]

What kind of place is it?

Oh yes, it is! I hope to travel one day so I can see the rest of it. [She laughs before perking up.]

Well, Earth is very large and diverse. I've never been to all of the places in it-- not for a lack of wanting, of course, but because I have duties to attend to here at home. I do know what some of the other countries are like from books and stories, but I couldn't speak expertly on them.

London, though-- ohhh, London is a wonderful city! It's so alive, always bustling with excitement and activity. There is always something to do, someone to meet, somewhere to go. I really don't know where to start since there's so much to talk about.

Woah! If just one city is that exciting, and the world is as big as it sounds, it seems like it would take a lifetime just to see it all.

I agree whole-heartedly! I imagine it would take several more lifetimes to see all of the worlds of every person that is coming into Hinoto-Ri as a guests, too.

Oh yes, it is one of the world's greatest centers of high society and culture. It's a very exciting place to be in the late 19th century.

That's true. I've been to a lot of places, but seeing so many people from different worlds in one place like this reminds you of just how worlds there are.

Still, I'd love to see yours sometime. Maybe after we've helped this city, I'll figure out how to get there.

[It may not be as simple as figuring out the right route on a Gummi Ship, but Sora hasn't quite figured that out yet.]
