[There's a scrambling sound and a few mutterings of "you turn on the video over here, don't you?" before the video finally turns out, showing the somewhat morose face of one (1) Sam Erstwhile, disheveled brown hair almost covering his eyes. He glances away with a slight frown.]

Um, right, what was I going to say here...

[And then a nod as he looks back up.]

Right! Right. Erm, yeah. Hello to all of you, I guess. I'm Sam and...I just arrived a few days ago, so I'm sorry if I'm still new to all of this.

[He tries his best at a smile, but it's kind of a pathetic try, at best- his mouth just quirks upward for one second before dropping down to it's usual position.]

I...I just am a little confused, honestly. I mean, people have told me about the Persona thing and the fact that we have to fight monsters and all, but, I mean, why were we chosen in the first place? I know plenty of other people who would be way better at this than me. And it's not like I applied or anything, so...what's so special about me?

[He sighs, scratching the back of his head.] Somebody I talked to before talked about how they choose us based on our souls, but...I just want to hear what other people think. I'm not really interested in why we were chosen, more like how we were chosen, if that makes sense. What sets us apart from all the other people from where we come from?

Because, I dunno...I think they made a really huge mistake when they chose me.

Oh, that's...that's not good. Inconvenient, really...

[A sigh.] Either way, a job would be nice to take my mind of the fact that, you know, I'm stuck somewhere else with demons running around. So, I guess...I'll think about it?

I'm not exactly the one to ask about what would be going on in other universes... I can see people's connections to their worlds, actually, using my Persona. But otherwise I'm of little use in that category.

[Aziraphale laughs a little.] The demons here are certainly more troublesome than any I've ever encountered, and certainly not as entertaining. Well... No, some of them, the ones that aren't merely classified as monsters, are actually rather cordial.

What, really? What does that even mean, connections? Like, what role they play back home, or...?

[A long pause.] And which ones are those? LIke, I would like to interact with those, not the monsters, if I could.

No, no, nothing like that! I see... strings. Literally threads, reaching from a person into the sky. A clear connection. But only when I'm using my Persona, Eve.

[He gives a bit of an amused laugh.] They're around. A lot of them inhabit the Taurus district, though those tend to be the succubi... [Sex demons always rubbed him the wrong way, lust was a sin that was so savage and foreign to him. He gave the Taurus district a wide berth whenever it was possible.]

Strings? How...odd. What do they look like? Can those strings be cut?

[Oh, and does that seem to fluster him.] Succu- oh, no, oh dear, I wouldn't want to interact with those! Ewww. I-I'd rather have a decent conversation with a demon, not, well, spend the night.

They... look like strings? Literally just thin threads, but they aren't physical things. They can't be touched or cut by any normal means, nor any means at all that I'm aware of.

[He laughs a little at that reaction, it's similar to how he feels about succubi.] You would've liked talking to my friend. Unfortunately he hasn't arrived in this world, but he was good company.

So, what's the point in seeing them? Are some stronger than others?

...Your friend was a demon? And he wasn't that bad at all?

All of them that I've seen so far are very thin lines that stretch into the sky. There doesn't seem to be much of a purpose in me seeing them yet... I'm assuming it's just one more mystery to unravel.

[Aziraphale gives a small nod.] Really, I enjoyed the time we spent together. Perhaps he's still technically evil, but I do think it was more a part of his job than part of his true alignment. We had lunch together quite often.
