[There's a scrambling sound and a few mutterings of "you turn on the video over here, don't you?" before the video finally turns out, showing the somewhat morose face of one (1) Sam Erstwhile, disheveled brown hair almost covering his eyes. He glances away with a slight frown.]

Um, right, what was I going to say here...

[And then a nod as he looks back up.]

Right! Right. Erm, yeah. Hello to all of you, I guess. I'm Sam and...I just arrived a few days ago, so I'm sorry if I'm still new to all of this.

[He tries his best at a smile, but it's kind of a pathetic try, at best- his mouth just quirks upward for one second before dropping down to it's usual position.]

I...I just am a little confused, honestly. I mean, people have told me about the Persona thing and the fact that we have to fight monsters and all, but, I mean, why were we chosen in the first place? I know plenty of other people who would be way better at this than me. And it's not like I applied or anything, so...what's so special about me?

[He sighs, scratching the back of his head.] Somebody I talked to before talked about how they choose us based on our souls, but...I just want to hear what other people think. I'm not really interested in why we were chosen, more like how we were chosen, if that makes sense. What sets us apart from all the other people from where we come from?

Because, I dunno...I think they made a really huge mistake when they chose me.

But...your home. Your family, friends...won't they miss you?

[There's a lengthy pause before he replies. This is quickly veering into territory that he's not entirely sure he wants to talk about. Still, his voice is steady as ever.]

Of course I do. But if time has stopped there, it doesn't matter much if I stay here for a while.

Well, that's why you've got to take it for a spin. You can talk to it, you know.

And don't get me wrong, I like them, we're just made a little differently. Besides, if peace reigned on Earth, it wouldn't be so interesting.

You say that as if I can just go and activate it like a program on a computer...as far as I've heard, you have to go and get yourself in real danger or something for it to even do anything.

Well...I guess that's true. More peace would still be nice, though.

And what if it didn't stop there? Wouldn't you be spending time that you should be using to get back with your loved ones?

Then I would deal with it when I got back. Even if I returned right now, after a month, there's no guarantee I could be with those people anyway.

It'd be nice, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

And, yeah, guess that's how that works. [He sooo didn't want to talk about what activated his.] Maybe you should go find someone willing to put you in danger.

If not, sit around a bit; bound to be something sometime, I'm sure.

Someone willing...listen to yourself! I don't want to be put in danger under any circumstances, and here it's a mandatory thing. Ugh...

Is it even worth it? What if that thing is worthless as I am...?

[He blinks, eyebrows furrowing, trying to figure this out.]

And you're not upset over that?

For now, yes. Whether time has stopped or not, the situation in my world is complicated. Either way, there would be trouble if I went back.

Ah, wait, so...if I'm correct, your existence there in the first place causes problems?

And...if you don't mind me asking, what problems are those?

I'd rather not get into it.

[Far too much to explain, and far too uncomfortable to boot.]

[He sadly frowns, scratching the back of his head as he looks away.]

If it helps any...my existence is kind of a problem too back home. But there's just something I have to do, even though I hate causing people problems...

Yeah, well, it's not exactly something I'm too willing to share, but...

[And he pauses, to add drama, to add the emotion as he looks down and mumbles.]

[It comes out sounding a little flat, but he does mean it.]

Yeah, it's...sad, what happened to her....

[He shakes his head, looking vaguely uncomfortable, but pained nonetheless.]

I shouldn't have brought it up. I'm really sorry. I bet you don't want to hear about that or me. Nobody ever does.

[He gives a light shrug, his usual blank expression masking his discomfort well. Less because of what Sam said and more because how do you shot conversations regarding heavy topics.]

It's fine. I'm the one who prompted it anyway.

I'm not exactly the one to ask about what would be going on in other universes... I can see people's connections to their worlds, actually, using my Persona. But otherwise I'm of little use in that category.

[Aziraphale laughs a little.] The demons here are certainly more troublesome than any I've ever encountered, and certainly not as entertaining. Well... No, some of them, the ones that aren't merely classified as monsters, are actually rather cordial.

Danger's around every corner, kid. I recommend not staying out after dark if you're really that against it.

As for your Persona....it might be. I don't really know what decides what it is, except 'something that means something to you' no idea other than that.

What, really? What does that even mean, connections? Like, what role they play back home, or...?

[A long pause.] And which ones are those? LIke, I would like to interact with those, not the monsters, if I could.

[A sigh.]

Yeah...but anyways, let's talk about something else. I don't really need to think about that sort of thing...
