[The COMP turns on to show Yukiko looking less than specatular; she's been letting out some pent up frustration on some monsters around the Virgo District and she may have bitten off more than she could chew. Needless to say, there is a beaten up and bloodied priestess on the network.]

I'm sorry...but if anyone was wondering where I've...been...I'm okay. Just a little...

[She stops and the device falls from her hand, landing on the ground. Not even a second after that, she too collapses and blacks out. The feed is still going but Yukiko isn't moving an inch. Someone might wanna stop by Virgo before the monsters see her.]

[If she just asked them...but wasn't that something she's been doing all this time? Somehow depending on them too much to do anything. She never had the leader skills, just ended up following everyone else to have any words to say on the matter. It wouldn't be fair to anyone.]

It is when I do nothing but ask them.

[She kept staring at her knees, gripping her blankets.]

I don't say what's wrong because there are people who have gone through a lot worse than myself. It would be selfish to hear my problems when they may seem nothing compared to anyone else. So I keep it inside...I don't want to depend on everyone to rescue me anymore.

[That little voice, her shadow, was still present in her. The idea of wanting a prince to come and take her away. Yukiko wanted to change that so that someday, she would be able to be dependable to others instead of just herself.]

[That does it.

Let's just say she's in for a good hard talk about what it means to be dependable, and she's in for a lesson that she might not forget anytime soon.]

There's no such thing as 'a lot worse' when it comes to suffering. It's just not something you quantify, not something you give a value to and write off as less terrible than what others go through.

[It didn't matter to her in the least -- whether her ragtag misfits have endured having family charge off into their own deadly profession, being betrayed, being used as an experiment, having to hunt down their own children because of genetic defects, or having family that basically lost their shit and turned the entire female crew into mindless slaves, she didn't think of it as anywhere worse than her own experience--it was still suffering to Shepard, and it was still something she was glad to have had the chance to rectify, no matter the means necessary.]

Besides, trying to be strong for everyone's sake and tackling things on your own is only going to make them worry even harder once they take notice.

[...There was a pang of feeling like a hypocrite in the back of her mind once she said that, but she just couldn't place her finger on why...]

[Maybe it's her mind yelling 'TAKE YOUR OWN DAMN ADVICE'. But it's that sudden moment for the priestess when something just kind of...snapped. The memories of the Anoli attack came to the forefront of her mind as she remembered seeing how injured Yosuke and Naoto were...how she could only watch in horror as Yu took that attack meant for her and damn near killed him. It was bad if Izanami had to try and comfort her in the hospital after her little break down.

She didn't know why it started now but Yukiko pressed her face into her knees, hugging them tightly as she tried to hold in the incoming tears and sobs.

Spoilers: it doesn't help at all.]

[It wouldn't be surprising if someone called her out on this later. But that's beside the point...with the way things are going now, she needs someone to be there until she calms down. That motherly presence, if you will.

Shepard places her arms around the poor girl in a soft hug, waiting for her to calm down. It's the least she could do.]

[Yukiko didn't know weither to be shocked or thankful for that. She never thought Shepard would be that kind of woman to do such a thing. Guess there's more than meets the eye to every person in the city.]

[Well, for all her habits of being hard on others, she still cares. Being a soldier doesn't always mean being an emotionless killing machine.]

...Look. If you can't ask them for help, then you can ask me. I won't ever judge you for it, alright?

[And that's what she really needed right now. Her friends wouldn't judge her but it would be like the overwhelming urge to smother her with good feelings. And sadly, that isn't what Yukiko wanted. Just...someone to talk to that wasn't knee deep in friendship feels and not get clouded.

She simply nods in understanding.]
