{ Someone else is feeling under the weather. Dagger woke up this morning with a cough and a desire to stay in bed. Thus forgive her if she sounds stuffy and/or her words are punctuated with a cough or two. }

I know this might sound silly...

But does anyone know a good story? It doesn't have to be long. I just... { A sigh. She's feeling homesick today on top of being sick. } I don't know. I feel a little sad today.

[Oh, she knows that stuffiness and that cough. She knows it all too well. Not afflicted at the moment, but...]

Yeah, I know a few from home if you want to hear them. They're more like old legends though, and some of them don't even have endings.

[For Haseo, it's less "not taking care of oneself" and more "backlash from power overuse". It's all the same when you're actually sick, though.]

All right. Hmm, let's see...Right. [She clears her throat.] So. On my world, there are eight main gods. The Eight Gods of Caerleon Medb, they're called. Now, a lot of this information's been lost to history, but they say that beyond the Eight, there's one more deity. A kind of over-deity, I guess, known only as "the Will of the World."

Back a couple millennia or so, I guess, the Will was kept in a deep slumber and not allowed to wake up or keep the world in order. As a consequence, the Eight Gods ran wild, acting more like demons and wreaking havoc on the world. One day, a mystic and allies traveled to where the Will was trapped in its slumber. Though it took great time and effort, and the sacrifice of one of the mystic's allies, eventually the Will was awoken.

[There's a chuckle.]

Not much of a story, is it? The funny thing is that a cathedral outside my home town is said to have had a statue of the Will on its altar, once. It's gone now, so who knows for sure?

I'm really not sure about any of that. It's just what I remember from the ruin runs with Mom and Dad. I guess your theory about it being a ruler might be correct - it'd explain why the Eight Gods went nuts without the Will around. Also the story did say that the Will was kept in a slumber, implying that there was some kind of force opposing it.

Gender? I'm actually not sure. If that darned statue was still around in the cathedral, it wouldn't be a mystery.
