No matter how many monsters I beat, I can't level up. I know this isn't The World, but since I'm in my body from there I should be able to level up, right?

It's not working and it's really annoying.

There aren't any quests or events to do either. It's annoying.

I don't know. I haven't been getting levels anyway. And they don't really drop any good SP healing items which is a pain.

Desco has mostly been beating up Prinnies, because they deserve it, but maybe sometime she could help you grind?  Desco's SP pool is really high!

What are Prinnies? But... I guess? My spells are pretty high level so they take a lot of SP each time I use them.

Prinnies are sinful human souls stuffed inside a penguin doll!  It's really fun to beat them up!

And Desco can just Magichange with you, and you won't have to use your spells!

...this isn't a service Desco normally provides, but she's in a good mood right now.

That... doesn't sound very nice...

... What's Magichange?

Well, all they had to do to avoid it was not be terrible people, so Desco doesn't really have any sympathy for them.

Magichange is Desco's special ability to turn into a weapon!  Desco used to be a sword, but she trained really hard and she is now an axe!

[... He can't lie, the idea of making his father live out however long the afterlife is in the body of an adorable penguin sounds kind of amusing.]

I can't wield weapons. I can only use a staff. Heavy Axemen are the class that use axes.

Really?  Where Desco comes from, it doesn't work like that.

The rules are probably different here, anyway.

Probably, but I don't know that I have the physical strength to use an axe anyway.

But that's not even an issue!  If you Magichange with Desco, you receive a portion of her incredible strength!

Desco is the strongest and most legendary Final Boss, so even a portion of her strength is amazing!

Is that how it works? Huh.

[It actually sounds... kind of fun.]

The video feed suddenly snaps on, revealing that you've apparently been texting with...a little demon girl?

...huh.

"Grinding is always more fun with allies! Desco achieved max level with a special five unit combination attack!"

[... wat. He's just going to hide behind text still.]

I usually solo things. Most people just can't be trusted.

When she smiles, light glints off her serrated, shark-like teeth.

"That's okay! Desco isn't a person!"

I didn't mean just human people.

And now she's confused and slightly sad.

"Does that mean you don't want to make use of Desco? But she hasn't been an axe for so long!"

Pouting at you. POUTING.

[Buh... but... uh.]

... I mean I guess we could try it. Just don't expect us to be best buddies or something. I've met people like that before.

"Yaaay!"

Her pout clears up instantly as she cheers, completely ignoring your 'best buddies' comment.

"Desco's gonna transform! Oh, thank you so much!"

Where should we meet? And when?

"How about near the statue in Virgo ward? Prinnies have been swarming there recently!"

Slight pause.

"Also, Desco can only transform during the Thirteenth Hour, so is ten minutes before good for you?"

Sure.

[... After a moment, he turns on the video. He should let her know who she's meeting, after all.]

Oh hey you're...kind of plain looking, actually.

"Hello! Desco looks forward to working with you! See you soon!"

With that, Desco waves bye-bye and cuts the feed.

When the time comes, Desco is waiting at the statue, her tentacles absorbed and her stubby tail wagging with excitement as she paces.

Tsukasa heads out, staff in hand. It doesn't take too long to get there, even though he thinks about ditching a few times.

He doesn't. Instead, he walks over, staring a little at Desco.

Desco waves hello when you appear, smiling brightly. Her red eyes give off a slight glow of anticipation.

"Hello!"

"Ah... hi..."

He's not sure what to do. He's really not the best at partying up for things.
