Hello, Hinoto-Ri. A lot has occurred recently, hasn't it? I heard there had been a mystical journey to an alternative world! I wish I could have gone. It would have been amazing to see the denizens of the other world, to see how they lived and acted... differences occur in different worlds, as Hinoto-Ri is-

Oh, my apologies. I have rambled.

In any case, I am certain that many of you have discussed the events that have passed extensively between yourselves. My discussion is of a trivial, yet very important matter! A recent conversation has made me ponder over something that still eludes me, and relates to my previous comments on how my world, and Hinoto-Ri, are very different from one another.

What is fashion?

I did not know what this was when first arriving here, but I have read and researched the subject, and fashion seems to be a very important cultural and social aspect of humanity! Just having the correct clothes, worn in the correct way, with the correct brand allows you to climb the social ladder with ease! I don't really understand it, but the concept of it fascinates me!

I would love to hear your opinions on it! Let us begin a discussion!

Fashion is boring and stupid!

I know that clothing differs sometimes quite a bit between societies, but is it really so important, beyond one's taste, or what the clothing itself may signify?

I do not care about my own personal fashion, as I do not intend to climb any social ladders of any sort. I suppose it would be better to say that I wish for knowledge for knowledge sake.

It's not knowledge worth having unless you intend to use it.

That is your personal opinion. To many others it is important enough to place social value on.

It is important enough that it influences society and culture, and even an individual's perception of another. This type of phenomenon fascinates me. Humans place importance on many trivial things, and because of this, trivial things become an important foundation within their societies. Isn't that interesting?

I will use it to understand humans a little bit more. Humans are complex creatures, and it requires me to know multiple trivial subjects that I have no personal use for.

I see. In that case: it's a complicated subject, about as diverse as the entirety of humanity itself. You're right that fashion has some impact on societal status, but it's not as easy as wearing the right quality fabric, the right brand. Fashion is what augments the person. It's not what makes the person.

The last of the list! Fashion goes hand in hand with trends, after all, and trends are the vehicles of ideas. Start a strong trend, and you shape how a group of people think, if only for a little while.

Well people are dumb, that's a fact of life! Kanbei put gold on his tanks and that just bloated up his costs and only make them a little more harder to hit! Only the strong should survive anyway and a world has no place for pretty stuff...unless it's a bomb or a raygun.

I suppose I could call those my own personal fashion statements, tee hee hee!

Perhaps I haven't paid quite as much attention to the humans' societies as I ought. I know among my clan, it's entirely about function and the impression one wishes to give.

Among other things, yes. It all depends on what you're trying to get across--and what you can get away with.

In a nutshell, yes. More specifically, the word refers to the movement of a popular thing in the collective consciousness. If something trends favorably, that means its popularity grows, and vice versa, but getting your idea out there to begin trending usually takes a little elbow grease. For example, when it comes to fashion, favorable trends are usually generated by word of mouth or public advertising.

Tee hee hee! Well, they don't call my Black Hole's Wunderkind for nothing, Masky! What's with the gig anyway? Was your face horribly disfigured during an acid accident? Or...oh oh! I know! You had half your face exploded during a mining test!

I don't get it as much as some people do, but I know that people like to be seen as 'on top' of the latest trends. It's kind of a marker that you're in an elite group - one that knows stuff about how clothes are supposed to look.

...I can't say I know what you speak of. Then again, you did say it was a human thing.

Ah... [Fashion. Really. Well okay.] It is just referring to clothing and accessories. Something in fashion would be what's in style, what's popular to wear.
