video - Fashion Gods

[Oh look who it is! It's your resident, deluded God. It seems they have crawled out of whatever hole they had been hidden in for the past month, looking just as thoughtful as ever]

Hello, Hinoto-Ri. A lot has occurred recently, hasn't it? I heard there had been a mystical journey to an alternative world! I wish I could have gone. It would have been amazing to see the denizens of the other world, to see how they lived and acted... differences occur in different worlds, as Hinoto-Ri is-

Oh, my apologies. I have rambled.

In any case, I am certain that many of you have discussed the events that have passed extensively between yourselves. My discussion is of a trivial, yet very important matter! A recent conversation has made me ponder over something that still eludes me, and relates to my previous comments on how my world, and Hinoto-Ri, are very different from one another.

What is fashion?

I did not know what this was when first arriving here, but I have read and researched the subject, and fashion seems to be a very important cultural and social aspect of humanity! Just having the correct clothes, worn in the correct way, with the correct brand allows you to climb the social ladder with ease! I don't really understand it, but the concept of it fascinates me!

I would love to hear your opinions on it! Let us begin a discussion!

I know that clothing differs sometimes quite a bit between societies, but is it really so important, beyond one's taste, or what the clothing itself may signify?

*looks like he might be kind of in the dark about this too, here. He hadn't quite noticed any of the social ladder stuff; didn't really happen so much in his world.*

Perhaps I haven't paid quite as much attention to the humans' societies as I ought. I know among my clan, it's entirely about function and the impression one wishes to give.

*a little pause, looking slightly distracted, suddenly, as a thought hits him* ....actually, impressions... just might explain precisely why one of my brothers dresses as he does, considering another. *lil head-tilt* ....hm.....

About... my own? Well... hmm. *pausing again, thinking that over carefully.*

Colors that go well together and look good with the blue of my skin, and the black of my wings and hair, I suppose. Clothes that cover me well, and flow nicely, but without getting in my way... clothes that look nice, and don't make me stand out too obviously. *There's an odd bit of a smile at that last part. There must be a private joke there....*

*but the smile fades again....* I mean... stand out more than I do by my own merits. I have no reason to call attention to myself; I've nothing to announce, that everyone should turn to me for. If I want an audience with someone, I see no reason not to try to get it directly.

*a slight pause* ....What of you, though? Might I ask what your preference is? *Just curious! Anant asked him, so he may as well return the question, right?*

Might I suggest paying attention to which colors tend to flatter you, even if practicality is the primary consideration for your wardrobe? I've noticed that some colors go better with others; one ought to take into consideration the colors of their skin and hair, just as much as their existing garments. Some colors can be quite flattering and give a good impression, and other colors... may rather make one appear as though ill. And at least where I'm from, humans tend to keep distance from those who are ill, because they don't want to catch whatever they may have.

The clothing in this city's markets seem to mostly come in a variety of colors, for each type of garment. I'm certain that when you find something suitable to your goals, you'll have at least two or three options for colors among those... If you'd like, I would be happy to accompany you to a fabric or clothing store, that we might find out what sorts of colors best suit you, in advance...?

Not so different as one might suspect. I was born human, after all. And I've lived among them-- well, with my clan, but still among humans -- my entire life.

I can't yet speak much as to what clothing is considered fashionable here, but which colors, against what skin and hair, fail to cast one in a deathly pallor... I should think it would hardly change between societies. It's a matter strictly of colors, not cultures.

Perhaps the fabric store would be best... once we find which colors flatter you, we could buy small samples of each, assemble them into something of a book, and then when you go clothes-hunting, you could take that with you for comparison? I do similar with bringing along samples of materials, when I need to match them, though for that, it's often something other than cloth.
