Well, it's a city! And it needs protecting, so, well. We protect it from whatever happens, right?

A broad, but ultimately adequate answer. [She's quiet for a moment, thinking.] Do you think there is any threat considered more pressing than the others? For instance, the Anoli versus whatever resides within that temple area?

What does it precisely need protecting from, though? What could happen that the being who brought us here would ask us to defend against it?

I don't know. [ He sounds amused after this. ] That used to be my job, though. Knowing what the bigger threats were. Now I'm just as clueless as everyone else.

Well... There's those Anoli guys, the monsters, and whatever happened to those guys on that video a few days ago. Those seem like pretty big things to handle, and there's no harm in asking for help if you need it.

But from what I understand, the conflict with the Anoli has been going on for quite some time. If we are to fight against them, why have we only been brought here now? In a similar vein, many of the monsters here are from the worlds of the Visitors, presumably byproducts of our presence here. It would seem counter-productive if our purpose were to protect the city from them.

[A sigh.]

It could still be your job. I find asking questions and doing research to be fairly good cures for curing cluelessness. Thus my inquiry here.

Definitely not. Especially since their main concern seems to be the government itself, and we as Visitors gain so much from them when we arrive.

... But it begs the question, if we are to protect all the people in this city, will we fail if the conflict between the Anoli and government does not stop?

Maybe they just realized that it was the time to call in some help? As for the monsters, it seems logical that if those who brought us here knew that would happen, then they wouldn't have done so.

To be honest... I can't say I'm completely sure, but I agree with what's been said before. We need to protect this city and those in it, but I'm more concerned about those in it. And with how the media is filtering what happened...

All the more reason to be bitter, I suppose, if one sees foreigners getting freely what citizens do not.

[If nothing else, that particular point has been hammered home lately. They are foreigners here, and despite the government's own brand of hospitality, not everyone is so welcoming.]

... It is as valid a theory as any, at this point. And definitely not an easy task to accomplish.

Mm. There does seem to be a certain tone the government and the media are keen on keeping up. Though... there is no telling how long they have been filtering their messages, nor to what extent. Attempting to confront or reveal them in the wake of everything that has happened might not be effective.
