[Action- in front of Daemoniac Inc. Cancer District]
[Walk through the Cancer Ward, and you will probably spot the large building in the middle of it, a state-of-the-art structure that reflects the technological wizardry of the area. One might marvel at it, and the locals do seem to be doing so as their eyes wander over it, but there is one person who does not seem to be marveling at it at all.]
[You might look over this young man sitting on a chair outside an internet cafe, with his disheveled appearance and general unkempt hair that scream "possibly homeless or worse", but his gaze, strangely enough, never seems to leave the building. Look closer, and you'll see that the knuckles on his hand grasping the cup of water before him are white, he's grasping the thing so tightly. And his stare holds a level of malice that contrasts harshly with his general harmless appearance...]
[This is not the image of a man who is happy about what he is looking at, at all.]
[Sam Erstwhile appears on screen, frowning sadly- while everyone is busy with the hubbub of the tournament coming up, it seems like he'll be the only person who will always be miserable, no matter what.]
Look, um...I hate to ask this, because it's totally unrelated to anything about the tournament, but I felt I really needed a answer to the question as soon as possible.
[He lets out a sigh as he scratches his shaggy head.]
W-what's the best way to get rid of nightmares?

Okay. So..what happened?
no subject
He...he killed my sister.
no subject
Oh...Sam...I'm so sorry...
*And she is, but Selphie's overriding emotion is anger and she kicks sharply at the ground by their feet*
But what the hell? What happened to him? Did they get him?
no subject
No, they never did, because he covered his tracks well, but...he told me himself that he did it. And he laughed.
[He surrounds himself with his arms, as if he's giving himself a hug, looking downcast as ever.]
...And I've been having nightmares about him ever since.
no subject
*Ah, Selphie, and her instant anger at injustice. But her expression softens as she looks at him, frowning in concern*
For how long...?
no subject
[He sniffs.]
For a while. But it hasn't been often...but ever since that building appeared, I've been having them every day.
no subject
You don't...think he's here, do you...?
no subject
I...don't think so.
I don't know.
no subject
Okay.
*Just, with the building appearing... these worlds had weird ways of working out*
But...if he is here, just say the word.
*Because yes, really, Selphie would go straight there for a fight. That's the kind of girl she is, especially if it means something to a friend*
no subject
He's more powerful than you think...
[A pause, before oh, right, this is where he has to show he cares.]
I don't want you to get hurt, okay?
no subject
I'm more powerful than you think too, ya know...
*She greets his concern with a soft smile*
I wouldn't!
no subject
[He nods, looking somewhat relieved.]
Good. Good, please...please don't. Get hurt, I mean.
no subject
Anyway, he might not even be here. Which means we gotta concentrate on stopping you having those nightmares.
no subject
[A sigh.] Okay, so...how do we stop them?
no subject
Also...maybe you could call a friend soon as you've woken up after a nightmare, and then tell them all about it, so you get it off your chest as soon as possible!
*Selphie nods, very sure that this will definitely work, and she starts working further into the forest*
no subject
You don't mind if I call you, right? I don't have many friends...
no subject
Of course you can! You can call me up any time!
no subject
[Again, that attempt at a smile.]
That's...that's really nice of you, Selphie.
no subject
No worries! It's what friends do!
no subject
[Ugh, what tripe. But it's good to play along.]
I'm glad to have you around, Selphie...I don't know what I would do without you.
no subject
Well, you're very welcome. And if you wanna talk or whatever any time just let me know.
no subject
[Oh, it's both. Definitely both.]
...What sort of friends do you have, Selphie?
no subject
*Well, sure, she hadn't made too many new friends in Hinoto-Ri yet, but she was getting there*
My friends...back in Vatheon...in my home world. Well, my friends are everything to me.
no subject
Vatheon...what sort of place is that?
no subject
Vatheon is a bubble under the sea. There's a whole entire city down there, and it's really pretty.
