But an official post merits looking her best and using video! ... and broadcasting from Lady Cloche's stuffed animal-filled room, instead of her Dive Machine-filled room.]

Hi, Hinoto-Ri! [She sits neatly on the bed, hands folded demurely in her lap.] My name is Luca. Luca Trulyworth. I've spoken to a few of you, but, eheh... it never hurts to introduce yourself again! [She leaves the cute, dopey smile on her face for a moment, then drops it in favor of a more polite smile.]

I don't want to take up a lot of your time, so I'll get to the point. Lady Cloche and I have been thinking about the best way to explain the Song Magic we use. And, well, I think a demo would work great! That way, anyone interested can see it up-close, live, in-person! [smile smile smile] Doesn't that sound like fun?

Song Magic is an important part of our lives as Reyvateils. It's also how we fight. So, think of it like... a cultural experience and a combat tutorial! [She bows her head, and her tone grows somber.] We're all hoping nothing dangerous happens again but... in case it does, Lady Cloche and I would like you to know- [She places her hand over her chest.] How to fight with us or, if anything bad happens... against us. [She drops the hand to her lap with a smile.]

If you're going to tell us that we might be fighting against you, shouldn't you be up front over what to expect?

Oh- you've got a point... I was going to be more clear during the demo, but I should be telling more people right away...

Basically, if myself or Lady Cloche start acting strangely, we might start using Song Magic. If we're not thinking clearly, nothing will stop us except being knocked out. Maybe that's something I should share on all the COMPs? If I can figure out how to share it...

Last month, a bunch of people of a certain Zodiac sign started acting really weird... they got yellow eyes, and eventually masks, and they weren't acting like themselves. It was crazy...

If anything like that happened, we'd probably sing and destroy a lot.

I've only been around for a week or two, so I could use all the info I can get.

[She listens to her for a while, quirking a brow at the mention of the Zodiac...and the aftereffects. Well, that doesn't sound good at all.]

Not acting like themselves, huh? Sounds dire already... [Indoctrination...only with more weirdness than ever. She couldn't help but feel her stomach twist at the idea.] Were they attacking everyone in sight?

I didn't go outside, so I don't know all the details... Sorry...

Other people were affected, too. So, even if we weren't all freaky- some people got really scared. Like, shaking on the floor scared. One of us might sing then, too.

Well, whatever you can offer is great too. [She smiles a little for a brief moment.]

Hmm. And you'd rather have anyone that isn't to be prepared, right? In case you're about to try anything on those who're scared out of their wits?

It seemed like- there were people who were acting weird, people who were scared, and people that weren't affected too badly one way or the other. [Luca wasn't out and about to see people who had best compatibility- that were stronger and scorpion-magnets.]

We could be targeting people lie that, or- [She pauses, biting her lip. It's for the safety of people, but she hates admitting it...]

Lady Cloche is an IPD Reyvateil. That means that when she gets really scared, or angry... she has an outbreak. That's why I wasn't outside when it happened. If I left Lady Cloche alone, she might have started singing and not stopped. So, it can be dangerous, even if we aren't the ones with yellow eyes.

... I'll talk to her about putting that information on the COMP, too.

I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about Song Magic and Reyvateils. If my explanation proves insufficient, please, come listen to us sing. After all--seeing is believing, is it not? [... even if, in this case, "hearing" might be more appropriate.]

However... I would first like to establish that it is much more likely that Luca and I will be singing to support you. Outside of the undue influence of the zodiac, we wish only to support our fellow guests and the citizens of Hinoto-Ri.

That's what I was thinking, actually. Demonstrations help more than words at times. [And this is one of them.]

I can understand that much; s' just, I'm not fond of being kept in the dark. [She's been a soldier for her whole adult life. So yeah... 8|]

[Cloche nods.] My thoughts exactly. As guests from different worlds, I imagine many people who have been brought here have talents that defy verbal explanation.

Still, I would like to try. What would you like to know about our magic?

I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case.

Hmm. For starters, is there any upper limit to what a song can do?

Song Magic is, theoretically, infinite in its potential. Each piece of Song Magic is crafted from the emotions of the individual Reyvateil who sings it.

Practically speaking, a Reyvateil can only sing and support her Song Magic for so long. If she overextends herself, the Song Magic will unleash against her will. Song Magic completed like that is much weaker than Song Magic that is properly executed.

So the bottleneck to its potential is the person. Makes sense.

Are there any 'songs' that take more than one Reyvateil to properly invoke? [If you can call singing it that, anyway.]

Song Magic that requires more than one singer is quite rare. However, Reyvateils can sing together and combine their power under the proper circumstances.

For example--Luca and I are used to singing side-by-side in battle. Although I could not sing Luca's Song Magic by myself, I can sing to support her magic. Song Magic sung as a duet is stronger and evolves much faster than when it is sung by a single Reyvateil.

Sounds like something I can get used to. [To her, this was like coordinating attacks on a single target...maybe more, if the attachment was any indicator.]

I'm guessing that either way you go about it, you'll need people protecting you until you can unleash it.

That's correct. In my world, Reyvateils commonly work alongside a human partner-- their Vanguards.

Luca and I have experience in singing without a Vanguard, but... [She pauses, delicately.] Well, it's not the most effective way to sing.
