[There's a scrambling sound and a few mutterings of "you turn on the video over here, don't you?" before the video finally turns out, showing the somewhat morose face of one (1) Sam Erstwhile, disheveled brown hair almost covering his eyes. He glances away with a slight frown.]

Um, right, what was I going to say here...

[And then a nod as he looks back up.]

Right! Right. Erm, yeah. Hello to all of you, I guess. I'm Sam and...I just arrived a few days ago, so I'm sorry if I'm still new to all of this.

[He tries his best at a smile, but it's kind of a pathetic try, at best- his mouth just quirks upward for one second before dropping down to it's usual position.]

I...I just am a little confused, honestly. I mean, people have told me about the Persona thing and the fact that we have to fight monsters and all, but, I mean, why were we chosen in the first place? I know plenty of other people who would be way better at this than me. And it's not like I applied or anything, so...what's so special about me?

[He sighs, scratching the back of his head.] Somebody I talked to before talked about how they choose us based on our souls, but...I just want to hear what other people think. I'm not really interested in why we were chosen, more like how we were chosen, if that makes sense. What sets us apart from all the other people from where we come from?

Because, I dunno...I think they made a really huge mistake when they chose me.

I honestly don't know about that. I suppose time is not as linear as we think. I've experienced the extra hour like most everyone here and it's a very different feeling from normal night-time. I can feel the proximity of the demon world during that time.

Alright, but...at some point I would like to hear it. I'm curious.

[A pause.] Yeah, I'm no expert on time travel or anything, so I'll just have to take your word for it. And what, the demon world is here, too?

[He smirks.]

It's unfortunate, but I suppose my bookshop is abandoned for the time being. That is, if time passes in our worlds while we're here.

[Aziraphale gives a slight hum in thought.] There's a number of jobs available in the city, most places seem fine with hiring those from outside universes. Anything from working in the library, bookshops, grocery stores or general stores, restaurants- any other number of businesses. The Libra district is full of shops, big and small.

Is there anything in particular you're interested in doing, Sam?

I don't think there's anything special about me either...

Actually, I'm starting to think they're taking whoever they can get and just telling us we're all special.

Well, let's see...some say it's random, some say it's because of our souls, whatever that means. One person said it was because of strong willpower, and another said it has to be something about hidden potential to use Personas?

None of them are really likely reasons, but looks like people are confused just as much as I am...

But how can I not think that way? I mean, I've been wracking my brain, and I have no idea who in their right mind would actually consciously chose me over someone else...

Maybe. Though nobody really has told me that I'm special. More like "here's a Persona, you figure out how to use it in this place you never knew", that sort of thing.

And they all exist at once? Man, if you told that to people back home, I'd bet they'd flip.

[He nods, listening dutifully.] Hmmm. Well, I've no special skills, really, I've mostly done file work and cleaned up stuff if needed to...a bookstore would be nice and quiet, though. Yeah. A bookstore is nice. I like books.

[Plus, he can watch people there without looking like a creeper WIN WIN.]

...The potential for using Personas occurred to me, too. But I'm still not sure how that potential comes about in the first place, either.

I doubt anyone brought here knows the exact reason, but it's interesting to hear what the theories are.

Yeah, it's kind of iffy, what that "potential" means, really...

It is, but I guess I've learned that answers are not going to come easy around here.

Um, well- it's not the case for everyone, but... me and the other person from my world are... kind of- special. But only kind of!

So, maybe it's just a coincidence! And, it's not like we're being paid to exterminate demons, sooo... maybe you came for being special some other way?

Yeah, I'm starting to wish these things had come with an instruction manual...

As it is, I can barely get mine to work.

You're special? [He sounds intrigued.] How so?

And I guess, but I've been wracking my brain and I'm not really special at anything at all...anything I think of, I can name at least one person who is better at it than I am. So, that's kind of a moot point.

Oh man, same here, it's just impossible trying to figure it out.

I haven't even seen mine, let alone making it work. Somebody said you have to be frightened or something to make it appear, though?

Oh, um-... [How she's special... maybe, if she just-]

Well, maybe the person better at it than you has a mean personality? Or, other things to do? Maybe they had really bad dandruff, so you won out! [-answers the second half instead!]

I don't really think bad dandruff is a factor here. And trust me, I'm-I'm not hero material or anything. I'm just me. They could've chosen a great athlete or a visionary leader and they chose me.

[A pause.]...You didn't answer my first question, though.

It's.... a lot easier if there's a crisis going on. But it would be nice if I could figure out how to summon it all the time.

I don't really wanna fight demons with an unreliable weapon like that...

Well- I spent a long time thinking I was just a normal girl. Definitely not hero material, either! [She laughs a bit, embarrassed.] But... um- just, do you promise not to think it's a big deal?

Oh, no, no, of course I won't! I mean, I might, because frankly, anyone here is a bigger deal than me, but I'll try my best to, honest, I will!

[A nervous sort of laugh- he sounds like a puppy that is eager to please, really.]
