Hey. I need to apologize. When we were under attack, I was too scared to do anything. All I wanted to do was hole myself up in my apartment.

I should be better than that. I'm a pilot. Fear shouldn't stop me from doing what I need to do. And to make matters worse, I took a job with the police. I could have put people in danger by not doing my job.

I understand if you don't want to trust me. All I'll say is that it won't happen twice. Not if I can help it.

That's how I have to be. A good soldier and pilot has to be brave.

But I'm not the only one from my world who's brave. So why just me?

I don't know, but it's still something. I'm not brave or a good fighter at all, so I can't figure out why I would have been chosen for something like this.

Well, what are you good at?

Cooking and cleaning, mostly. And doing laundry.

Then there you go. Every effort like this needs someone to cook and clean. I mean, we need food to survive, right? And if the food's good, then so's morale.

I wonder if my cooking is really that good, to feed a whole city full of people.

...That's a good point.

Oh, then get a bunch of people to put their heads together! If we have, say, a dozen people, we can feed at least the non-residents here.

I've never cooked with other people before. It sounds like it could be fun.

Then go suggest it! I'm sure there'll be people who are interested.
