Some souls get pulled into the Reaper's Game. If they win, they get the chance to come back to life if they do well enough. Normally it lasts a week.

I got handpicked to be shoved into three straight runs of it. As in I was killed specifically to participate.

Why I couldn't move on is kind of obvious from that.
