'Ma' as in magic, 'kai' as in world. It's a world parallel to the physical plane, filled with a miasma that is harmful to humans but strengthens magic.

THAT IS VERY INTERESTING. IN MY WORLD, MAGIC EXISTS IN THE HUMAN WORLD-- IT IS JUST THAT MOST HUMANS LACK THE CAPACITY TO MAKE USE OF IT.
