[No one else wanted to take charge, so here he was, looking into the video feed with a resigned expression.]
...Does anyone have any musical experience or know how to start a band? I need to uh... commission a song or something...
[He looks completely at a loss, not sure what else to say about it, awkwardly shutting off the feed.]

video;
Hinata has his back turned to a stage of roaring fans. The spotlights, blue-tinted of course, flash over him as he turns, his body language loose and relaxed, complete with prop glitter for the effect of ~glamour~ as he points out to the crowd lined up before the arcade. Neon signs flicker in the background, marking the opening ceremony for the tournament.
Then, in the heat of the moment, he pulls out an oval-shaped hat box with a baseball bat rammed through it with naught but some rubber bands to act as guitar strings. Hinata steps forward, the spotlights following him to reveal the DDR mat on stage.
The crowd abruptly stops cheering. The mental image shatters under the weight of its own failure.
It visibly takes him another minute to compose himself after that brief mental vacation.]
... H-how about I help you. Switch over to private and swallow your pride, okay?
Video > Private Video
[A little apprehensive, he does indeed switch over to private, wondering what the redhead has to say that's so horrible, it must be shielded from the world.]
Y-yes..?
Video > Private Video
[And perhaps he feels slightly responsible and thus guilty, but... Hinata isn't known for being pro-active. No, pre-ordering the special collector's edition of Dragon Era: Beginnings doesn't count as being a go-getter.]
If you're really serious about this, I want you to take a drink of water... [And he sends over a few lines of something called "Flower." Don't ask why he has that
it's not fun with VAs or anything, nope.]... And try the first line of that. It has the original tune and the instrumental track, since it's a karaoke song.
Private Voice
[He knows where his strengths are okay.]
[Regardless, he practices the first few lines, eventually returning to Otonashi a warbling voice clip of him attempting the song. It... wasn't too bad. He just needed practice.]
[...A lot of practice.]
Private Voice
Hang on. [And he'll go listen to the voice clip off the private line to avoid audio feedback. It isn't polished and doesn't elicit strong emotion like a real musician would, but it doesn't make him want to tear his hair out either.]
Okay, yeah..! You--err, we-- [we,because he feels responsible, he feels like they should at least be a team on this]-- could probably sing something short if nobody steps up. We should probably try to write something too, in case a singer volunteers who doesn't write their own lyrics.
Private Voice
[If only he knew...]
What about you? Can you sing?
Re: Private Voice
And I'm not usually uh... you know, artsy.
[Except in his imagination. That's where all of his creative fuel goes.
As for singing?]
Ehh, not recently.
[Well that was a slip. He has vague memory now of living in an old, empty home without a thing to talk to but the appliances, the walls, or the echoes of his footsteps in the halls: it stands to reason that he would have started talking to himself idly. Even now, the habit persists in his socially awkward tics and introverted nature. Why talk to the group when he can think and have monologue in his own head?
That said, maybe, just maybe, when video games weren't enough to keep him stimulated after an awful day at school or
prestigious, part-time projobs, he'd end up singing (to say nothing for the quality of his voice, mind you) in that old family house. But only in private.]
Private Video
Otonashi-kun! [Oh how he wishes you were here so he could grab you, Otonashi. He's in a dragging sort of mood.] Go with me to the karaoke bar.
Private Video
[Funny, that. He feels the aching need to dig his heels into the floor, as if the threat of being grabbed or tackled or otherwise thrown around like a ragdoll is not only expected, but imminent.]
Eh, wait, what-- right now?! I-I don't think you understand what I meant--! I can't go up in front of a crowd of people right now and just... no, no no!
[Baby's first karaoke bar experience?]
Private Video
[It sounded as if he'd been to a couple before...
or maybe his voice had.]Why not right now? Are you busy?
no subject
[He raises his hand in protest, but quickly realizes the futility of it. Fumbling with thoughtful gestures, he finally seems to resign to it.
He had been saying it was a 'we' project.]
... N-no. I'm not busy. Send me the coordinates to this, ah, karaoke place...
no subject
I'll see you there~!

[His team spirit appears to be lacking
again. Ah well. At least he cares.]See you soon.
