Okay, so either the Professor is pulling a huge fuck you on me for leaving, everyone in this town is sharing some kind of mass delusion, or I actually got kidnapped to a Japanese city in another world to fight monsters.

Someone remind me why I'm believing the third one?

[He rubs at his eyes, then looks a bit more cheerful as he keeps speaking.]

Free room and board just for beating shit up, though. The place I came from could learn from this Philemon guy. All I wanna know is if there's any other mutants around - that's Homo Superior, the evolution beyond humans, not whatever you might call mutants in some other world. As good as this all sounds, I'm not sticking around if demons are my only alternative to humans.

Have a very unimpressed little girl with multiple eyes and tiny horns.

"And what's wrong with demons?"

There's a slight pause before she continues in a snide, superior tone.

"Mr. Human?"

[Oh. The demons can use the network?]

I didn't picture you being able to talk. Y'know, when I was told we were basically killing you for sport.

[And then his brows draw down.]

I'm not saying this again. I'm a mutant.

Desco rolls her eyes at that.

"Just because Desco is a demon doesn't mean she's not a Visitor too, dummy. And drawing a distinction between a mutant and a normal human doesn't make sense!"

Her tone suddenly becomes lecturing.

"Despite their genetic changes, a mutant is still classified as a member of their base species! If you actually think that one random genetic quirk is enough to make you stop being an insignificant human than you are even dumber than you look!"

Another one of those brief pauses.

"And let Desco note that you look plenty dumb already."

Y'know, for people who know that everyone here is coming from different worlds, you're all pretty damn quick to apply your own rules to mine. So you're not one to talk about looking dumb.

"Desco's Daddy is a mad geneticist! Improper use of genetic nomenclature is therefore a personal affront to him!"

The eye on her forehead narrows in indignation.

"And why would the fundamental laws of existence change just because you're from a parallel dimension? You humans are so self-centered!"

Pyro may not know her well enough to tell, but coming from Desco that is hugely ironic.

Desco. Calm down.

[This is Uncle's serious voice.]

I clearly didn't explain it well enough. Bot of you, back off.

She calls me human again, I make no guarantees.

Mutants like you're talking about don't exist in her world. What else is she supposed to think you are?

There's a slight pause as Desco considers the latest development.

"Desco refuses to use the term 'mutant', but she would be willing to use a different term."

She pouts, just a little.

"Desco is only willing to compromise because Uncle Otoha is asking, though!"

Avoid "human" and "freak", and we're good.

[He still doesn't look impressed, though.]

How about you just use my name?

Desco is clearly conflicted about this, but after a very long pause she grits out an answer from behind her clenched teeth.

"...fine, Desco will use your name."

Drawing herself up, she once more levels a claw at the camera feed.

"Be amazed at Desco's generosity! The Final Boss usually only honors interesting people by bothering to learn their names!"

[He looks utterly nonplussed.]

Sure, okay. I'm honored.

I'm also Pyro.

HMMPH.

"Very well, Pyro! Since you are obviously overwhelmed by how adorable and generous Desco is, she will graciously allow you to regain your composure."

Is "she" gonna keep talking in the third person? 'Cause that's really annoying.

Desco pulls herself up, adopting a haughty, superior expression.

"In addition to being the Legendary Final Boss that will conquer the world, Desco is also the Ultimate Little Sister! Her adorable vocal tics only add to her cuteness!"

[Aaand Otoha feels obligated to step in to save the kid from his own dumbassery.]

It might be different in his world, Desco. You don't know that.

And Pyro - demon means different things. I should have specified. A lot of them can talk, yeah. It's the aggressive ones we have a problem with.

... Aside from Desco. She's a visitor like us. And you're not to mess with her, or you'll get several very painful lessons.
