[Daichi sounds very much like a first name, not a family name, so did he prefer informal introductions? And frankly, if this person had been through an event like this already and knew about the world, the least Otonashi can do is be a little less introverted.

Maybe this would be okay, then? Daichi seems so kind and, well, harmless.]

It's, ah... Yuzuru. Sorry we're meeting after all of that, but... I figured I should say something.

[Oh, suddenly voiced! Well, it would probably be rude not to return the same.]

Heh, nice to meet you, Yuzuru. [He definitely sounded harmless in addition, if a bit goofy sounding.] Don't worry about it; I've met people through weirder stuff than this. But I'm glad to at least get your name!

[He'd be lying if he said it wasn't a surprise to hear his first name again. How long has it been?]

Oh... w-weirder. So it gets even more strange than zodiac monsters causing havoc, people panicking, and crazy scientists..? And I thought this was a mostly normal city... [WRONG.]

[He knew the guy was probably pretty weirded out, but Daichi couldn't resist a bit of a harmless chuckle.]

Well, there's always demons running around and shady gang wars. But some of the best friends I have I made during an alien invasion.

...Er, that was back home though, not here.

[And that's when he receives a drawn-out pause, followed by stammering.]

W-wait... Demons and... alien invasions? [For a second, it seems as though he's all but forgotten his distress about life in Hinoto-Ri. Funny how incredible situations will do that.]

At least gang wars sound more... possible. I... uh... You must be very flexible to make friends in a situation like that.

[See, usually it's Daichi who's the one in Yuzuru's position-- so he totally understands where the guy's coming from!

...Buuuut, he can't help a bit of a snicker in amusement either.]

When aliens are invading, you kind of have to make friends with some other people if you don't wanna get your ass kicked when they try to destroy the world.

Don't worry, I don't think there are any aliens invading here, at least. And the demons, uh... [.....] Well, some of them aren't so bad! I mean, they're kinda dangerous, but mostly they kinda just keep to themselves, I think!

Hahaha...! Hah... ahh. [Nobody has to see him to hear the awkward strain in that laughter.] That too. Make friends or die when there's... an enemy.

[He gets it, really, but when aliens are invading? When ALIENS. Are INVADING! And he thought being dead was surreal. This is really pushing his limits, but at least someone is having fun with this.]

Kinda dangerous. Demons sound like the kind of people that are always dangerous...

[Well way to make him feel bad about making you feel awkward, dude!!] Yeah... it's not so bad-- we all actually got along pretty well, bad situation regardless. I guess that was just luck.

And it was actually thanks to demons that we were able to protect ourselves. I guess it just depends on which ones and how you use 'em..

Ahh, you're very casual about this... [It's not so bad, Daichi sounds like he would be great to hang out with. Very low-tension, which Otonashi doesn't often get!]

Eh? What do you mean? There are different... kinds of demon? I thought they were... fictional, but all about the same. [Pause, and then he quickly speaks up again.] Oh, you don't have to answer that if I'm pushing too much.

Trust me, I think it's kind of weird how used to all this weird stuff I am by now... [Come to him a day before the Invasion and it would've been a muuuch different story.]

Nah, it's not a big deal. It's just... I don't actually know much myself. [Ahaha...] Some demons we can summon and they help us and act as our allies-- others we fight because...uh, well 'cause we didn't summon them, I guess. I'm not really sure what the difference is-- or if there's really one at all.

[And, as an after thought: ] I always thought they were just folk legends too. Surprising, isn't it?
