10th Screw [Video/Action]

[Video; morning]

[The video feed clicks on to show Nano excitedly bouncing on her heels, smiling brightly and waving at the feed. She's wearing her blue and white spring school uniform from home, and does a spin in front of the camera to show it off.]

Good morning, everyone! It's the first day of school! Isn't it exciting? I'll be attending Andromeda High School as a first year starting today, and I hope to see a lot of you there! Maybe some of us will even have classes together!

[Action; Andromeda High School; throughout the day]

[Nano is probably the only one in town quite this excited about school starting up again. She can be found merrily strolling through the hallways, bag full of textbooks at her side as she makes her way to classes. In class, she is a very attentive student, taking copious notes and always nodding seriously at everything out of the teacher's mouth. At lunch, she's got a homemade bento with the sausages cut up into cute little octopi shapes and all sorts of other cutesy culinary tricks, and is definitely willing to share with anyone who doesn't have enough to eat. And after classes are over, she takes her time walking home to the Pisces apartments, meandering through the city and enjoying the warm spring air. She's happy to talk to anyone and everyone who's interested in making a new friend throughout the day, although she's probably still a little too shy to approach on her own. Still, though, the day is full of promise!]

Oh! I'd almost forgotten! I went to the Velvet Room the other day and asked Igor-san for a new Persona! He told me my power was growing, and that he had just the one for me. It's the Easter Bunny, in celebration of the holiday. I'm going to meet him right now!

[Nano calls out 'Persona' just as usual, expecting a cute and fluffy little companion. Instead, what she gets is this ridiculous monstrosity, which shows up and immediately begins laughing and cavorting about. Nano lets out a scream, and the feed flickers a bit before dying out entirely. She'll, uh... probably be all right.

5. Text, PSA | Not even bothered to be locked from Minato

My brother Minato is recovering from mono! That means he's still contagious. So if he takes you out somewhere, don't kiss him, even though he's cute. Or share straws or chopsticks. (And it might be good to wash your hands if you touch him but try to do it quietly because he's sensitive.)

But he is getting better and he's been sleeping all month, so if you see him you should say hello and get to know him! He's a really nice guy when he isn't full of germs. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ﾉ He likes music and listening to people talk to him, and he'd really love to make some new friends.

[This post comes with only the best of sisterly intentions. Minato may love to sleep, but she'd seen how grumpy he'd gotten with almost a month of enforced bed rest. It was time for him to get out and meet new people, and what better way than to give him a ~~not-so-~~gentle push?

Whatever her purpose was though, it got a reaction. Minako didn't bother to wait until her brother was asleep again to post, so not too long after her PSA goes up, another message quickly follows from a somewhat embarrassed and rather annoyed Minato.]

Please disregard most of what my sister has posted here! Except the part about mono.

But I'm not sensitive, and I'm not looking for anyone to kiss right now. [He has a kind of sort of girlfriend here, after all.]

Though I guess if anyone knows much about playing the violin or likes running, it would be nice to find someone to run with a few times a week when I'm better.

[It feels kind of weird asking about that, but... without Akihiko, running and keeping in shape is going to get lonely, and he doesn't know if the school has a track team. So, even if he is annoyed with his sister for starting all this, he... is kind of slightly grateful. And he might as well take advantage of it to ask about a running partner, right?

Besides, maybe there's someone else out there who plays the violin or something, too. He missed the concert due to illness, and he regrets the chance not to find some more people who play music.]

Once upon a time, there was a little kitten.

The kitten loved to play, and she spent her days running around the city, trying to find other kittens to play with. Instead, she found a little girl.

[And the picture of the little girl appears.]

The kitten loved the little girl, and the little girl loved the kitten. But one day a group of bullies showed up.

[This picture of bullies could be better, but shh.]

They teased the little girl, and taunted her for taking care of something so small and weak. They ripped the kitten out of her hands and tossed it down the alley. The kitten was okay, but they beat up the girl.

The little girl had to recover for a long time, and the kitten found her way home. She sat outside the window of the little girl's bedroom, but her father had forbidden her from letting the kitten in.

[Sad kitten in the rain…]

By the time the girl could get out of bed, the kitten was still there. But the kitten was dead.

So who's the wrong one in this story? The kitten, for trying to reach out for help? The girl for not being able to protect the kitten? The bullies for beating her up and hurting the kitten? Or the father, for not letting the kitten in?

[Video on the network; Action in Capricon Ward]

[Fumi's spent several weeks gathering information about Hinoto-Ri, Personas, the state of things in her world and various iterations thereof, and now it's finally time for her to begin her grand experiment. But in order to have something to experiment on, first she needs a Persona. She's only heard two different stories about them since coming to this place, and considering she doesn't already have one, the only thing left is to put herself in harm's way to force it to awaken.

And apparently, that's exactly what she's doing. When the feed clicks on, Fumi's busily securing the watch portion of her COMP in a safe place, setting it up to record what she's about to do. She flashes a small knowing smile at the camera without saying much of anything, and then walks off a short distance away, standing in the middle of the open field that makes up most of the Capricon District. It's dark, and during the 13th Hour to boot, but there's just enough light to make out her white china dress and the faint light of what appears to be a cell phone.

And Fumi just stands there in the middle of the field for a short time until she is predictably found by a group of fairly strong-looking demons that happen to be wandering through the area. They slowly make their approach, prompting very little reaction from Fumi whatsoever. As they get closer, they pick up speed, and finally she slowly raises her head to regard the demons impassively. As they tear toward her with their claws, there is a flash of light, and Fumi's Persona appears.

Of course, Vapula happens to be a support Persona, so there's precious little Fumi can do to fight back. She takes the demons' attack on the nose, grunting as she is forced back a few steps. For a moment or two, it seems that her gambit has backfired, but there is the briefest flash of a confident smile as she holds her cell phone out in front of her. A second flash of light emanates from the phone, and suddenly there is a demonic sheep sitting in front of Fumi, joining the fray.]

...Tao Tie. Finish them off.

[And that appears to be all the impetus needed. There is a great swelling of energy from Fumi's demon, and it lets the attack loose on the unsuspecting demons, utterly vaporizing them in a single shot. Megidoloan is always a nice standby for that sort of thing. And after a quick Mediarahan, Fumi's back in tip-top shape herself. She walks over to pat her Tao Tie on the head before summoning it back into her phone, and then at last walks over to her COMP watch, her newly acquired gryphon-winged lion Persona floating behind her.]

Well, then. That certainly was exciting. Chief, I'm ready to begin the next stage of my research.

Hello, everyone. I'm sure you're all well aware by now of the recent additions added to all the apartment complexes, considering you can't even walk outside your door without seeing some of the plants. In light of these plants being added, the Government has requested that those of us with Support abilities related to tending plants help contribute to their growth and success. However, I'm not exactly sure how many people besides myself have access to these abilities at the moment. So my question for the network is: how many of you have skills usable to help grow things and tend the soil? I was hoping we could band together and form a sort of schedule so we can evenly divide our resources and make sure every plant is tended to the fullest. After all, we'll be helping to contribute to the food supply in the city, and that's certainly not a bad thing.

If you don't have access to these skills and would like to help with the plants anyways, please feel free to leave a message as well so I can incorporate you into any plans. After all, plants don't only require magic to be able to grow healthy and happy! Thank you for listening, everyone.

I just discovered someplace that might be of use. It's called the Temple. It used to be on the island where I lived. Somehow it found its way here. In Gemini. I believe it only shows up during the 13th Hour considering it vanished when the hour was up. There weren't any monsters behind the walls from what I could see, so presumably it's a haven from them.

There's a healing spring inside the building. It can heal wounds, even life-threatening, though I would advise caution if you want to cure the latter. There are risks. Frankly you're better off getting yourself to a hospital if it's that bad, but if you've no other choice...

The feed snaps on to once again reveal Desco, although she's nowhere near as upset as the last time.

"Hello! Desco here!"

She briefly clears her throat before launching into her - obviously rehearsed - spiel.

"Desco was thinking about what she could do to fix all the incredibly obvious problems with humanity's political model, and she eventually decided to start small! Progress starts at the bottom and works its way upwards, you know. Just like how a hero starts off grinding on slimes in the starting area!"

She nods to herself, obviously proud of her BRILLIANT AND TOTALLY RELEVANT METAPHOR.

"So today, Desco is going to deliver a public service announcement to allll of Hinoto-Ri!"

With that, she holds up a crayon drawing of what looks like...a penguin?

"This is a Prinny! They are from Desco's home of Hades! They are a very important part of the industrial complex there!"

She tosses the drawing over her shoulder, smiling broadly.

"Desco has recently figured out that there is a deplorable lack of knowledge about Prinnies, so she has decided to educate you on them! And lucky for you, Desco is a highly-paid teacher at Evil Academy, the greatest school in the Netherworld!"

A slight pause.

"Also, in case you can't figure it out, Desco is also indulging in needless self-promotion while delivering this message. If you are struck by how amazing Desco is, she is still accepting minion applications!"

A broad smile as she holds up another piece of paper, this time with her contact number directly scribbled in crayon on it.

"Prinnies are sinful human souls! In life, they were terrible people that were complete failures as human beings! When they died, they went directly to Hades, where they were encased in Prinny Hide and subjected to intense, borderline sadistic lessons in order to become fine Prinnies!"

She pauses briefly in order to allow the the viewers to digest this message. She holds up the sign with her contact number again while she's at it.

"Once the training is finished, the Prinnies are shipped out to Netherworlds all over the universe, where they do menial labor and other degrading, thankless chores in exchange for less than minimum wage! When they have saved up enough money, they can pay off their sins and Death will take them away to be reincarnated!"

Her demeanor suddenly becomes serious.

"And now, Desco reaches the public service portion. Recently, Prinnies have started appearing in Hinoto-Ri during the Thirteenth Hour, and they are taking this time to slack off and indulge in idle chatter and frequent cigarette breaks. This is no good at all! A Prinny that is slacking off in his free time will soon start to slack off when working, and if a Prinny doesn't work his sins will never be forgiven! Therefore, if you see a Prinny during the Thirteenth Hour, Desco implores you to BRUTALLY ASSAULT them, for the sake of their tarnished souls!"

...she is entirely serious about this.

"Please, please, keep the cycle of reincarnation going! Beat a Prinny today!"

[When the feed comes on, not only is it unusual because it's being broadcast on the public network, viewable by practically everyone in the city, but it's also tilted down at someone who is laying on the floor, wincing in pain, clearly coming from the watch on his wrist.

For those of you who have met the other Joshua, this one would look familiar... However there were two distinct differences. One, most noticeably, there's a large scar going down the left (his right) side of his face, from above his brow down to his chin, over his eye; that eye is also very clearly blind. The other difference was the black metal collar around his neck, bearing some numbers on it. And it was... smoking?? Were those black scorch marks on his skin underneath the collar.]

Well, I've decided that perhaps now is a good a time as any to give out a public service announcement to anyone from Alpha Omega... do not try to tamper with your collars. We may be universes away and yet I'm certain that Val is still laughing at us.

[He gives a bitter smile which quickly fades into an embarrassed scowl as he turns his gaze away from the camera with his next admittance.]

... Also, I can't move.

[Major electrocution kind of took a toll on him... On top of locked up muscles he thinks he might have sprained his ankle, maybe his other wrist too. Everything was simultaneously numb and throbbing painfully...]

How do you handle being alone?

So, Hinoto-Ri.

It seems that you just brought me in just in time for a very special day. [ That special day is actually tomorrow, and it's her birthday. ] But that's not really important right now. It's taken me too long to post this. Sorry about that.

Anyway, my school, the Knight Academy, showed up in the city weeks ago. I've been trying to get everything in order and save up some money since then so I can open it to the public. I think it would be a good place for people to learn things like swordplay and archery, especially since we have a sparring hall dedicated to practicing swordsmanship. There's a few rooms available for people who want to stay there. It's not a lot, though. Three of them are already taken, so I have...five left. We have a kitchen, so anyone who likes to cook can work there. Oh, and teachers. If you're interested in teaching swordplay or archery, I'd love to hear from you... I don't have a lot of money to offer, but I can give you something, at least.
