I assume you have all educated yourselves on what Philemon's intentions and goals are for this city in his latest charade, or you would not be wasting your time humoring that ludicrous and insipid excuse for literature.

Now, what about Nyarlathotep? Have any of you figured out anything about his plans for this city, or are you more concerned with petty child's play?

They give us these fancy video phones, and all anybody wants to do on 'em is type. Never much saw the point in makin' somethin' as simple as conversation so damn hard on yourself.

[DeDeDe shakes his head. Not really fishing for a response for that statement in the first place, he just breezes right past it.]

So who's this Nyarly fella, then? Some other jackass that looks like he fell off a parade float or escaped from the circus?

[He.... doesn't really get the point of that at all, nope! Though Jun comes from a much less technologically advanced time, so he sort of gets it. Though he's perfectly fine to continue with text, t h a n k you.]

You could say he's fallen right out of a story book. His name is synonymous with a cosmic horror from the work of H.P. Lovecraft, an early 20th century author. In reality, he represents humanity's complete negativity and desire for destruction, as opposed to Philemon's wont for creation.

[At least it's not anonymous too like half the other people that he's been talking to lately. People are so paranoid in this city.]

Can't say either one of 'em sounds like someone I'd want to share a drink with.

I can't imagine they'd be very good company in a bar period. In the end you'll probably just end up in a fight or getting kicked out.

So, then - assumin' we're here because Madam Butterfly wants us to be, and nobody gets to leave 'til he's done with us, what's your plan in the meantime?

I want to figure out what kind of game they're playing this time; it's always a game. Though with much higher stakes than they're really allowed to wage if you ask me.

After that, I suppose the next step is making sure neither win with the least damage possible.

Stalemate, huh? Guess that could work, but only for so long.

Unfortunately, that's the only way I can see any of us winning. If only there was a way to lock them into an eternal stand-off...

Trust me, no standoff ever lasts forever. Somethin's always gotta give.

One can dream, can't they?
