Data File 1 [Video]
[The video displays a blue haired girl with a slightly confused, but mostly contemplative look on her face.]
So a lot of people have been talking about this new book both on the streets and the network and I thought it might be a good way of getting a better understanding of humans and the types of things they like to do.
I was able to get a digital copy so I could read it quickly, but it's a little confusing. I mean, I know it's suppose to be fiction, but sometimes it can show trends in reality.
So are relationships usually that complicated? Or with so many people?
Are rivalries actually just a cover for some deeper relationship between the rivals, or was that just wishful thinking on Mimini's part?
When people are in love, do they really hurt each other like that? Because I was under the impression humans don't like pain and try to avoid it, but it seemed that one character was really enjoying the pain...
Maybe I should read the first book, but I just got here and everyone was talking about this book, so I wanted to keep up with the current topic.

Ah. Most books like that aren't entirely accurate to how people's relationships work. But relationships can be complicated. And I suppose they do sometimes hurt each other a little, emotionally. And rivals can... um...
[And then she stops entirely for a few moments. Oops. Wait. She actually knows about that one.]
...I still haven't read much of it, yet. But I don't think that the author did a good job with the... rivals parts.
I'm a little sad I didn't take the Mayfield memories route with Tachikoma.... >.>
Oh, okay, so rivals don't always actually do those things?
And physical pain is not part of most relationships?
They can be friends all over again, it's okay!
Not those kinds of rivals. I think they hate each other too much, even if they seem to really like, uh... bumping their chests together. Is that supposed to be exciting? I'm not sure why....
[She makes a little sound not unlike a cough, hoping to move the conversation along.]
And no, it's not. Or it shouldn't be. Partners shouldn't be hitting each other, that's abusive and it's not right!
Yay!
And I didn't think hitting was a good thing, but I wanted to make sure. I'm still new to being human, so I don't want to dismiss any actual possibilities.

The new one that came out recently. Moonlight Madness by Hanako Ishida? Hold on...
[In a moment, an image of the cover appears in the corner of her screen and she points to it.]
That one! Everyone is talking about it.

HAVE THEY? I SHALL HAVE TO PAY MORE ATTENTION.
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING ABOUT IT?
But people on the network seem to say it's not a very good piece of literature, and some people think we should burn the book outright. Which I don't understand too much. Data is data, no matter how incorrect it is, and in the case of books, if its entertaining to those that have it, shouldn't it be fine like that?

[Well, she already bought it, so.]
Anyway, when fiction reflects reality, it's usually exaggerated and distorted. Don't concern yourself too much with the details. It's more likely that they represent the author's particular idealization of a situation.
But yes, they usually are this complicated.
I'm still not sure if Tachikoma is going to call her Meetra or Miss Surik...
Oh, so things are not that painful or always that tense among rivals?
But I guess I can understand the complicated part. Well, the idea that a relationship can be complicated anyway. I mean, I didn't get to see many relationships in Section 9 outside people working as a team in missions, but I always got the feeling there was a more complicated relationship between Mr. Batou and the Major that he never talked about with us.
She will answer to either
I think it's more of whether the person is "older"/authority over them...
[Tachikoma seems to mull that over a moment.]
Um, how physically close? The Major and Mr. Batou are full cyborgs, so physical closeness is kind of limited.
Well Meetra's like 30, even if she looks 20 tops
Well, the more sage like advice given, the more likely she'll use "Miss"

Even Tachikoma can see Batou is SOL with Kusanagi...

And now Tachikoma is just gossiping about her squadmates.... XD
This would be really interesting if Meetra had any idea who these people were
Careful, I might just start dragging people to streams of GitS: SAC....

Plus, it's probably written by a twelve year old with no life.

And the author info in the back doesn't say anything about Hanako Ishida being twelve or having no life...

And the fact that she's using actual people for inspiration without permission? That's just plain creepy.

I..I don't know how much you know about humans, but you really shouldn't read things like that.

But why not? All kinds of people are reading it of various demographics, and I think I might fall into one of them at least in some sense...

Uh... I mean, these books are all about aliens and foxes and stuff, right?! So it's not really that good for learning about humans anyway.
