Voice, backdated to Feb 13th, filtered from Death

[While Death usually sounds very calm and confident, she speaks a little faster today. Time to completely destroy her credibility in another weird town!]

So, uh, bit of a weird question... let's say you admitted your feelings to someone. Because something strange happened. And then a few days later, you realized you actually both meant it.

Which day would actually count as your anniversary?

Well, the way I see it, is that you take the day of admittance, then the day of realization, and find the middle day between those two. That's your anniversary.

I guess that would be one way of doing it...

Really, what you need to do is figure out which day means more to you. failing that, a compromise always works. And if not, you can always ask for the other guy's opinion.

I guess that makes sense. I never really planned on any of this happening.

I suspect he's just as confused as I am. Neither of us have ever really done the whole romance thing before.

"I think we should really only celebrate the decisions we make too. If its made for us its less a celebration than acknowledging we aren't in control of our own destiny."

Keeping Mayfield's interference out of it is probably the best plan anyway. And this way there aren't special occasions falling on the same day.

"Ah, so it was that Mayfield place and not something done here. I was about to inquire what they did to you here so I could start working on or looking for a countermeasure, just in case."

It was about a year ago now. Someone's notion of what would be fitting on Valentine's Day.

"So they introduced aphrodisiacs into the air or water?"

The air. The flowers they used affected a whole range of emotions. We got off mildly, all things considered.

"That really sounds like a terrible place."

It was. The people were wonderful, but most of what happened there was awful.

"Do you miss it then?"

Some. It was getting quieter, toward the end. And I am awfully fond of the grandkids.

"Grandkids? I never even considered Death to have a family, please allow me to apologize."

Well, they were techncially my assigned husband's actual granddaughter's assigned children. But they were family, and that was more important than overly complicated technicalities.

"I understand. Family isn't always tied by blood."

I had siblings before that, but getting to be grandma was a lot of fun.

Ruri is quiet for a fairly long time after that before nodding to herself and speaking.

"Hopefully you find someone to connect with here."

"So far everyone has been wonderful, so I'm sure I will."
