8th Screw [Accidental Video]

[Hey there, Hinoto-Ri.  There's a certain hardworking robot girl that's just about hit her limit tonight, and thanks to having accidentally turned on the broadcasting function of her watch while she was taking it off to do some work, you all get to see just what she's been dealing with ever since half the city disappeared.]

Ahhhhhh... I don't understand any of this!  What am I supposed to do?

[Nano is loudly whining to herself while sitting at a desk.  There are papers stacked and scattered everywhere haphazardly, along with several calculators sitting in various locations on the desk, paper streaming out of them like ticker tape at a parade.  Other receipts are messily strewn about the desk and the room, and even more go flying as Nano pounds the desk in frustration before flopping forward onto it.]

I can't run a business!  What was I thinking?

Right! You could install the program and it could help you do all the math or taxes or accounting that you need to do while the owner is away, and afterwards, if you don't need it anymore, you could just delete from your system so it's not taking up space!!

...But aren't you a robot yourself? Couldn't you download the program to your own operating system? Then you could physically handle all the problems yourself!

Well now would be a good time to try it, don't you think? It would be a great way to help you get everything done!

...Or are you not compatible with the technology of this city? I could help if you want! Just need to find a cable that's IEC 76610-5-203 compliant if you don't have any outright wireless network ports!

USB, huh?

Oh wait! Let me check the Barrier device I found in the room I was given!

[There's some shuffling as she grabs something. She holds it near the screen so Nano can see what looks like a u-shaped metal collar.]

Yep! There's a USB plug on here along with the other standard ones! Thanks to the IEC 62680 standard, they're all compatible with USB ports and cables! So I can make a direct wired connection to you!

Oh it's definitely safe for me! This external barrier has a ton of firewalls and protective programs so if there's any viruses in your OS, I'll be fine!!

Your OS should be okay as well, unless you have some unprotected wireless ports or viruses you don't know of. But since it's a direct wired connection, all we'd have to worry about is the program I'd be transferring. And I promise to do a bunch of scans and research to make sure anything I give you is safe! I'll also double check myself to make sure I don't have any programs that might try to transfer to you.

Basically I can guarantee that only programs you want will be transferred, and I won't do anything else without your permission!

Well, if you don't have any firewalls or protection programs up, then anybody could just access them when connected to your OS, but they'd have to do that on purpose. And I'm pretty sure you could do the opposite if you want, look at anything I have in the External or my cyberbrain that I don't have protected. But you'd ask before doing any of that, right?

But don't worry, if you don't want me to access anything, I can promise not to do so! I can just transfer the file and that would be it!

And I can always promise the same privacy for any time I'm connected to you as well!

...But are you sure you wouldn't want a program to help out? I'm pretty sure I could one that would do more than just calculations.

Great! I'll start looking the network for a program to help right away and make sure it's safe and everything!

I promise that any file I find will be thoroughly checked before I offer it! If it's not safe, then I won't bring it!

Now I just need to find one!

No problem! I love helping out friends!

Where is the place you're working at? I'll come over the minute I find a safe file!

Alright! I'll be over with the file as soon as I find it!

[And off Tachikoma goes to scour the net for a clean program to help run a market! She'll show up at the market looking for Nano once that's done.]

And now to [Action]!

[A bit later Tachikoma is at the marketplace, in front of said back office door. She gives a quick knock before calling out in a cheery voice.]

Hello, Nano? I found a program! It's safe and everything! And I brought my External Barrier too!
