Hello,

I'm newly arrived to this city, and I'm curious to see if there are any others here that might be from the same place that I am. Is anyone familiar with the planets Coral and Ragol? Or any of the planets in the Gurhal system (Parum, Moatoob, Neudaiz)?

Additionally, if anyone has heard of "Mayfield, USA", would you please send me a message? I would very much like to talk.

And then she switches to video, and a beaming, purple face is displayed on the screen.

"I remember you! I do! We... never talked very much, but I remember you from there! Ah, I'm Dakki Sigal. Lived on Stone Street with Falk Gatt and Aurica?"

She does hope it rings a bit of a bell...

Death smiles at her. "Yes, I do remember seeing you around. I tried to at least be a bit aware of everything. The other Death is here too."

"He is? Oh! Is there anyone else? ...I've tried to keep aware of everyone, too. There aren't too many of us. We're our own little village, after all. But I've been so busy getting the house ready for winter, and making plans for a farm with Lucas...

...ah, excuse me. I'm sorry. I'm rambling."

"Not that I'm aware of. There are a few people who I recognize from Mayfield, but they don't remember ever being there, so it's probably more weirdness happening." She figured weirdness about covered it.

"I've already met someone that I knew from Mayfield. He's not the same one..." There's disappointment in her face and in her tone, but she's quick to try to hide it and continue on. "...We are just copies. They're the real ones. I... yes. It's definitely more weirdness."

"It's a different sort of real, that's all. If an equation can be sentient, there's no limit to what can be alive." There were certain advantages to having experienced an entire universe's worth of life forms. "But whose potential original did you run into?"

[photonicfighter]

"An equation can be sentient, but an equation doesn't have a body. I'm data. We're data. Maybe something rebuilt us. Maybe something is projecting us? Maybe it's just... the power of the being that pulled us here." She doesn't know, and it's upsetting not to know. She brings a hand to the side of her face, frowning.

"Garviel Loken. I've run into him."

"Ideas can take on a physical form too. Other than one day out of every century, that's all I've ever been." It made it easier, but it was a bit of an odd case. BUt it did put her in the unique position of being as reassuring as possible. "It's always been broader concepts in the past, but I guess in this case, it's the concept of you taking form."

"Oh..." That's something that she hadn't known about Didi. But it wasn't something she'd have thought to ask. People were people and they... worked like people, right?

"I've never considered myself to be a concept before. I'd feel more comfortable knowing how this worked, for sure. I really would."

"It's a bit different, yeah." How to explain it. She could explain how she worked easily enough, but to someone else. "We can still remember and feel."

"If I was no less me after they rebuilt me, and no less me after Mayfield copied me, then... I'm still no less me, whatever I actually am while I'm here." She said it quite confidently, but then trailed off. "...right?"

"Exactly. We still remember the same things and have the same feelings. No one can take that from us." Understanding your own identity was easier when the body came later anyway.

"You're right." And that seemed to be enough for Dakki. She made herself smile, nodded once, and determined to not fret about it for the moment.

"What's there to do around here, anyway? Could I get a job, if I wanted? Is there work to do?" Oh, she very much wanted a job, and wanted to work again...

"You can. You even get to decide on one for yourself, here." She shoudl really look into it, actually.

"I'd hope I'd get to pick for myself, here!" She laughs, and it's a laugh that holds relief. "I'll have to see what kind of work there is. And if it's not a bother to have a 'visitor' doing it. How about you?"

"I've been thinking of looking for work in a bakery. I've never been good at idle, and baking turned out to be a lot of fun." Clearly everything one would expect of a reaper.

"It is pretty fun to cook, isn't it? I'm not sure I'd want to work in a restaurant or anything, though. I wonder if they'd need fitness instructors...?"

"I think there are gyms and the like. It's a lot more modern than Mayfield." Nice change, really.

Those planets don't exist in the Tau Empire, as far as my knowledge goes.

I've never heard of the Tau Empire, so I suppose we're even.

I've been away from home for a long while, and I still haven't found anyone that's heard of my home system. I'm getting used to it. I'm also wondering what this implies about the size of the universe, or the kinds of different universes out there.

I won't reveal the size of our Empire but the humans inhabit over a hundred thousand planets.

That's not at all where I'm from. But it's interesting to hear about a place that I've heard about before.

A man who called himself a 'space marine'. We were friends.

Space Marines do not make good friends.

I suppose it depends on who you are. They're particular about who they want to befriend.

I've never seen someone fight like him. I admire that.

I've killed dozens of Space Marines. I'm hardly impressed by their fighting skills.

I'm finding it strange, to be this alone.

It's always overwhelming, finding yourself somewhere strange and new. How long have you been here for? And what kind of place do you come from, if you don't mind me asking?
