Hinoto-Ri City Headline News, January 26th, 10AC -- Grand Prix Edition

Tragedy at the Grand Prix: The Red Lion's Rampage Reaches its Finale
The closing ceremonies of the 10th Annual Persona Grand Prix came to a shocking halt this year, as Mayor Kazuki Sakahagi and his security team were assaulted by the extremist terrorist organization Anoli. The Mayor's speech was interrupted by a hacked feed from the Leader of the Anoli, who broadcasted his message on airwaves all across the city. Immediately following was the appearance of the notorious assassin Gemini, who attempted to assassinate Mayor Sakahagi. His efforts were futile thanks to Ms. Junko Tanako, Mr. Sakahagi's secretary and bodyguard, who courageously protected the Mayor from the assassin's bullets. She is currently hospitalized in the ICU at Caducueus Hospital, and is expected to pull through, while Mayor Sakahagi is reported to be unharmed.
Unfortunately, Ms. Tanako is not the only one who took a bullet for Mr. Sakahagi, but she is the only one in the ICU. Bunrakuken Karube, also known as the "Royal Red Lion," and this year's new Grand Prix Champion, was shot down when he attempted to engage Gemini in the Mayor's defense. As the two fought, a gunman in a spades motif mask appeared and shot Mr. Karube in the neck, and disappeared into the crowd. The medics pronounced him dead on arrival, making the beloved competitor and Grand Prix veteran murdered in cold blood the very day he finally achieved his well-deserved victory. Mr. Karube was 32 years old, and a fan favorite for the past five years of the Grand Prix. The autopsy is currently being conducted at Caduceus Hospital.
Bunrakuken Karube's murder marked the start of a massive Anoli attack on the citizens and police force present at the stadium, bringing an end to the ceremonies and unleashing chaos onto the city. Thanks to the effort of the local law enforcement and the protection of the city's Visitors, casualties were contained to a body count of approximately 260 in a stadium of 25,000 spectators, with many more injured and hospitalized.
The Gemini Killers' Return: A Murderer Cut in Half?
The bloodthirsty Anoli assassin duo Gemini made their return at the Grand Prix's closing ceremony after their strange disappearance the month of the Visitors' arrival. The Gemini Killers struck the population with fear four years ago for their public assassination of Mayor Utemaro Satomi at the Sixth Annual Persona Grand Prix. Since then, they have been spotted at many of the Anoli's strikes against the city, making a mockery of our local police force and causing the deaths of thousands of innocents.
However, only one man from the Gemini pair appeared at the closing ceremony in his assassination attempt of Mayor Sakahagi. Where then, was the other half? Witnesses on the scene report spotting another man in similar garb to Gemini's setting off explosives around the stadium during the battle, leading to the deaths of many police officers and civilians in attendance.
Visitors Dazzle in Defense of the City
Many Visitors jumped to the defense of the Hinoto-Ri populace as the Anoli launched their attack on the stadium. As Visitors who were both competitors and Spectators swarmed to take on the Anoli legions, four Visitors valiantly assisted Seaside Dragoon in his defense of Mr. Karube against Gemini after the masked gunman's assault, despite no call to action. Many more fought among the chaos, assisting medical teams and local law enforcement in their evacuation of civilians and recovery of the wounded. Their involvement successfully drove off the present member of the Gemini pair, and helped bring the situation to the city's advantage. Thanks to the dedication of the Visitors and the police force, the Anoli were eventually driven away from the stadium, allowing the medic teams to remove Ms. Tanako from the scene and help usher the injured away from the chaos.

The Great Leader of the Anoli appeared before audiences city-wide this week, as the Anoli found a way to hack our networks. The broadcast interrupted the closing speech of Mayor Sakahagi, preceding his attempted assassination. A transcript of the speech has been provided by local officials and news reporters on the scene.

In addition to the Leader's speech, the outstanding efforts of Reporter Tomokazu Tokudome have provided us with exclusive footage of the man that assaulted and murdered the Royal Red Lion Bunrakuken Karube, as well as countless other police officers and Visitors in their efforts to contain him. Captured alongside him seems to be his assistant: though she's never been sighted among the Anoli before, she is reported to possess supernatural powers, and aided in the Gunman's assault against the civilian populace.

You have lived in fear and confusion for months, and I will now attempt to right the misconceptions your government has given you about us. We desire one goal- to dismantle the government. They would have you believe that there are dangers out there. And we will not allow others to decide for us.
The Anoli refuse to die within this city. We have been here for nine long years. Our glorious government ignores these issues. They turn to Visitors as their own 'Private Police', unleashing them upon our streets. Do you know where these people come from? No. And they stalk your neighborhood, with the government's full approval. The danger of Hinoto-Ri is not demons, or us. The danger is that we will not back down from our belief, and we will not allow them to paint us as the monsters.
You've given me no choice Sakahagi."
