I researched into Persona, and I know that some people are interested in hearing what they are, exactly. I thought that, with the potential threat looming, it might be a good idea... to properly explain it.

However, on a close examination of the library, I was unable to find much info on the Persona ability itself. Most of what I found was theories or, in a case or two, what appeared to be picture books for children.

I did find a few things; for example, most of the theories suggest that Personas as a power will not attack their users. The concept I found in psychology seems to support this; the studies of a man named Jung seem to suggest that the idea of a persona is a 'mask that's presented to make an impression on others and hide your true self'. According to what I read, the best idea of it comes from the idea of playing roles, or role-playing. Like... in theatre shows, I assume. As the book said, by playing a role, society is moved forward. The ability to play a role in society is the basis of the archetype. It's... meant to be a mediator between you and people you meet, sort of. Basically, it's how you act around others, and comes from your conscious mind. Typically, if you don't have one, I was told, it implies either severe mental damages or complete innocence. As a book I read put it, it said 'the persona is the denial of the will to "live as your true self".

I think that this idea of Persona being tied to the powers we've gained is likely, due to similar names and ideas.

Um, from what I've read, personas are just one way you present yourself - not necessarily the primary way. So... that could be it. Or the theory that they're connected could be untrue...

I wonder what mine says about me. I find this idea to be a bit disturbing.

I've heard there are people with more than one. Is that true? I wonder what that says about you, then.

As I was told, you're able to get a persona from the 'Velvet Room' whenever it appears. One Persona you awaken to; the other comes from the Room.

Only the awakened one seems to be special to you. I'm not sure about the meaning of the other one.

"Velvet Room"? That's an odd name...

Is there a limit to how many you can have?

Ah, I found the book of theories at Aquila Library in the Aquarius District.

It's mostly just a large amount of theories that were formed on the Persona power over the last year or so by what I think is a resident or residents.

Where is the shape or nature of such things drawn from, do you suppose? I have no recollection of anything of this nature.

I'm not sure. The psychology of Jung suggested their origin - the 'unconscious' - was connected to mythology and such. I don't... know, however. Mine comes from my religion, but I've heard of them being considered ghosts, too.

It seems to vary.

Yes. Most likely. However, from Jung's writing and generally what I've seen... your world's mythology will probably influence your persona's form... Even if you don't know it, explicitly...?

...I'm not sure. The views of Jung on this sort of thing are... confusing.
