Things are exciting here. More and more exciting. There is even a tournament! I have never participated in one before - it is a friendly contest thing, yes? I cannot wait to see how everyone performs. The aim is to win, so everyone will be fighting to the best of their ability, to beyond their very limits, otherwise the win is tainted, yes?

There is a question to be asked.

Hatred and Love is viewed in equal measure. Humans normally say love is worth more. In recent months, I have seen media that espouses that love will always succeed over hatred. Hatred is inferior. It sustains only the self, but it is like poison also. Pure intentions become twisted, revenge distorts the mind and morals, and eventually hatred destroys the individual...

I must admit, this confuses me. I have observed no such things in humanity before. Ah, the corruption, yes, but hatred has sustained and protected humans as much as it has poisoned them. It is usually love that brings about self-destruction, as they hold another's life higher than their own.

So, I have always viewed hatred and love being of equal measure. They are different, yet powerful in their own right. It is like that saying, what, pears and lemons? Apples and peaches? Whatever.

So my question is thus: what do you think is more powerful or more important? Hatred or Love?

Humans are social animals; social animals that breed by mating, and love assists in that. Building bonds, securing permanent mates... do metal beings like you even require bonds like that? I doubt you reproduce in a similar fashion to humans.

The spite sticks in the veins and makes them stiffen. Tenderness puts cuts in the heart. Really, isn't the question 'what kills the man faster?'

Emotions assist performance at one's peak. They give strength. They give the ability to march forth when another would die long before. Do not underestimate emotions.

However, they do bring their own weakness. Which is the reason for my question. Are hatred and love on equal standing, or is one worth more than the other?

To live without any of them gives birth to a dull life of grey.

Humans are not logical creatures, despite their attempts. Emotions influence judgement, subtly or obviously.

This is what I enjoy about them though.

As I have said, neither. Perhaps you humans require such a thing to perform at an acceptable standard but our society has flourished without the need for such extreme emotions.

Deciding through logic is safe. To decide in accordance with emotions is... reckless.

Yet I too have decided under the influence of emotions. It was... unsettling how natural it came to me.

Cybertronians are quite capable of bonds like that. Were two of my crewmates here, I could direct you to discuss things with them. As for reproduction, we are either forged or constructed, so no, nothing like how organics go about it.

So you are a society that exists without emotion? That sounds like a hollow existence. What is the point of living if there is no emotion or feeling behind it?

To exist in a constant state of apathy is hell.

You certainly speak in the manner of one.

But we exist to further the Greater Good. We each do the job required of us to help the whole. That is satisfaction enough. Love and hate aren't required.

Because I have experienced it. Hatred burns inside me, but so does love. Both give my life direction and meaning. Hate without love would consume me whole. Love without hate would see me drown in despair.

Yes. I see. Camaraderie is not restricted only to humans. I know that, but, my bias has always been with them. It is a failing on my part. Bonds of love do have an advantage of power in numbers, even if it increases likelihood of death by sacrifice.

You obtain satisfaction in fulfilling your duty, and that is it. That is fine. I do that also. But it is best to hunger for more. Perhaps it is greedy, perhaps it is not, but humans exist in a vibrant dimension, swirls, and glitters, of light of colour, not of dullness or greyness or emptiness.

Yes.

Balance is necessary for reality to exist, but humans exist with and without balance. A paradox. One is worth more than the other, and rarely do they give thought of acknowledging the less wanted sides.

Hatred is not acknowledged. No one wishes to admit that they feel hatred, and all the bitter feelings that come with it. They fear they will be looked down on here, won't they?

Congratulations, you're far more observant than a majority of the other denizens of this city.

I would not, no, but there's plenty of them who are all too eager to throw their lives away for such reasons.

Of course they will be looked down upon. Hate leads to destruction and violence. This is not something humans like to be reminded of, even if they all feel hate. I'm probably not gonna make friends by saying this. Instead of understanding their hatred and its roots, they prefer to bury it as deep as they can and never look at it. It only leads to it exploding in disgusting ways.
