Why would anyone write something like that? Who cares about that kind of thing, anyway? Shouldn't the media be focusing on something more important? Something that actually matters?

Really? I learned a lot of useful things that way. You'd be surprised what sorts of things people will tell you when you just listen.

I'm not talking about deliberately eavesdropping on private conversations. I'm talking about not tuning out what's going on around you. People say a lot of things walking past in the hallway or on the way to school or on a train. And you don't always have to be an active participant to be a part of a conversation.
