ITP: Questions

[Four months. January would mark her fourth month in this place and Arturia is very, very confused. This is a place where special abilities are not only accepted, but commonplace, and there's little chance of the Grail War coming here. She always hated keeping secrets back home, but had understood the why of it. It bothered her, but she had accepted this as a fact of life.

Even more than that, Shinji weighs on her mind. Shinji had been a jerk, there was no question about that. The girls who followed him around were the type of teenage girl who seemed to think that sort of person was a real man. Arturia knew better than that just from spending so much time with Sakura. The only reason Arturia had not tried beating him to a pulp for what he did to his sister had been due to Sakura asking her to leave him be and stay out of it. It angered her to just stand by and yet....

...yet when she gets back home, she has every intention of going to the Matou home and telling Sakura in person that her brother is dead. Arturia has no idea how to tell her and the thought of lying to Sakura and creating a cover story leaves her slightly ill whenever she thinks of it since, in the end, Arturia feels like she is the one responsible. Archer may have put the bullet through Shinji's brain, but he had been Arturia's Servant.

There had to have been an alternative. There had to be.

When is it acceptable to kill someone?

For that matter, when would you say it is acceptable to keep secrets.?

Anything that benefits the whole more then it would benefit the individual.

I was not aware that there was something that needed to be done.

You are speaking in hypotheticals. No one lives in that world. There are situations that you can't avoid it, but you are asking a philosophical question which means you have time to think of other options.

I see no real reason as to why. If they were doing things that were harming the whole, their family and friends were either condoning those actions or were ignorant to it and would probably prefer to not know why the person had to die.

I am a soldier, but I am a human first. On the battlefield deaths happen, but it is a terrible tragedy. Off the battlefield there is always a better way.

I once slew a comrade who had been possessed by a daemon. I tried with all my might to save him, but it was not enough. I can empathize. My suggestion is to mourn him or her, and then try to make things so that such a death need not happen again.

Do you wish to tell me of the circumstances?

Taking responsibility for the hurt you cause is part of what happens when you take up the sword. Honesty does not preclude kindness, however. Explain the circumstances. If you must condemn, condemn the action rather than the person. Even the noblest beings can be twisted by.... external forces.

Simply be honest. If they can't forgive you at least the poison of the action will not be tempered with a lie.

That is a hard question. If you truly believe that they will be endangered by the revelation, you may have to hold something back. Even so, be very careful about what you avoid saying. Because if you leave things out, they may not be able to account for a later threat emanating from the earlier danger.

I would default to honesty and offer my protection, if it were me, but I do not know your situation.

Either you're planning on killing someone, or you already did and you're regretting it.

Why would you want to kill someone?
