This is kind of nostalgic...

[Naminé's face appears on the screen, her expression unreadable for a moment. For those who might know her, Naminé looks very different. She's older and leaner, one eye hazed over from blindness. She has a black collar around her neck as well, barely hiding scars across her throat.

For those who don't know her, she looks like she might have come from a war zone, so outfitted with weapons she is-- there's a strange blade hanging from a harness at her hips, a quiver strapped to her back, and a compound bow slung over her shoulder.]

Hello, Hinoto-Ri. My name is Naminé. Sorry I wasn't around to say hello for when all the other newcomers were coming in, but I had to get some...well, affairs in order.

[She pauses a moment before her lips curve into a small smile.]

According to the network, it's almost Christmas, so if anyone needs a last minute gift for a loved one, please feel free to ask for me. I'm an artist. Any commission from me, large or small, is free for the holiday season. After that, I'll have to start charging so I can keep my apartment. [A huff of laughter.]

If anyone else is interested in a little sparring, I'm up for that too. I'll be in Capricorn.

[She breathes out slowly, her eyes searching. Conflicted.]

...hi. I know you're here. Can we talk? Please? I want to see you all.

My gosh, this network is so much nicer than the one on the 'berries.

[She laughs, tapping at her wrist watch.]

And the thing that goes behind our ears is too cool!

Yes. Not as many...umm, strange people to deal with.

[If she didn't meet another Asura or Alex Mercer or Val it would be too soon.]

It kind of reminds me of one of those spy movies that I watched with the others at the Facility.

[Ooohh yeah, Kairi could live happy if she never had to see Asura again. Or the Joker, for that matter...]

Hah, yeah! And it seems much more reliable than the 'berries-- easier to carry around and it's less likely to lose 'em somewhere.

It's probably because it's meant for convenience, now that I think about it...the people who are stuck here are trying to make things bearable for everyone else.

[It takes Xion a moment to reply. This isn't the first time she's encountered different timelines, or something... unexpected from new arrivals from her world. But this by far is one the biggest and most startling.]

I'm here.

[But would Naminé remember her? Riku hadn't...]

The apartments we first get are free, at least, though we still need to pay for food and anything else we need. A bunch of us are trying to get a bigger apartment we can all stay in together, though.

[This is her sort of awkward way of saying you'd be welcome too.]

[Even if this Xion is different from hers, she can't help but smile. Her Xion had been worried if she'd remember her or not too.]

That's good to know. I guess I'd better start finding work as soon as possible, huh?

[A pause, and then a smile.]

It's good to see you again, Xion.

It's good to see you too. It... it feels like it's been a while, even though... [Even though it might be something different entirely for you.] Not too long, but...

[She shakes her head a little sheepishly.]

Well, we haven't found anywhere quite yet or anything, and some of us have jobs already, so you probably have time to get settled first. A lot of things here... can take getting used to.

This will sound strange, but we've gone through something similar before coming here. I mean-- it must be obvious that we don't look familiar...

It's nice to meet you, Namine...

[The greeting is somewhat less overtly enthusiastic than Nano would normally offer. She's busy wondering how this girl got so many scars and injuries, and it's worrisome to her, but she's ultimately too polite to ask about any of them.]

My name is Nano Shinonome.

Hello, Nano. Are you new to Hinoto-Ri too?

I've been here for just over two months.

Oh, so still new, but not as new as me, then. Have you been adjusting well?

It was difficult at first, but it's been getting better.

[She nods understandingly.]

What kind of world do you come from? Sometimes that makes the biggest difference of all.

What kind...? Um, I think it's a pretty normal world.

[Not that she has any basis for comparison, really.]

[She laughs.]

It's normal for you, but it might not be for me. I think that's the most interesting thing about coming to this place.

Well... what would you like to know about it? I don't mind answering whatever questions you might have.

How about just what you do every day?

I wake up early to make breakfast for Hakase and Sakamoto-san, and then I get ready to walk to school with my friends. I spend the whole day there until late afternoon, and then I usually go straight home to get dinner started. Sometimes I go places with my friends for a little while before going home. Then I make dinner for us all, work on my homework, watch television or read a book, tuck Hakase and Sakamoto-san in for the night, and go to bed myself.

That sounds very wonderfully normal.

[It's actually anything but, but Nano has conveniently left out most of the details about how insane her friends are. Still, though, it's far more ordinary than anything that happens in Hinoto-Ri.]

I suppose so, at least compared to here. Not that I haven't met some wonderful people in Hinoto-Ri too.

Oh yes-- being in Hinoto-Ri, for all it's strangeness, is a wonderful place to meet new people and learn of different worlds.

Right! Everyone has been so friendly.

I hope you meet only friendly people, Nano. You seem like a very sweet girl.

[Why so conflicted? ...It takes Aqua a moment to reply on account of WTF ARE MY FRIENDS DOING? but soon enough, she does reply... with a little snow still in her hair.]

Naminé...? [Blink...blink...] Of course we can talk.

And I don't think you have to worry about money for the apartment; just anything you'd like to add to it. Unless you'd like to join a few of us in saving for a place we can all stay together.

[She brightens at the sight of Aqua, almost beaming.]

I'd love that. It would be just like it was before-- at least, the place I was in before I came here.

It's really good to see you again.

It's almost funny how that goes. Though with where I was before, we were in three separate places.

[She smiles at that. Even if she didn't know the her in the city of dreams well, still a friend. How many actually knew her from other places?]

It's good to see you, too. Do you need help with anything?

Three separate places? What do you mean? [She tilts her head curiously, wondering how many people other than her and Kairi were in a different place from home before Hinoto-Ri.]

Oh-- I've been managing alright so far. It's just...nice to be able to see so many familiar faces again. I was worried I wouldn't see anybody again.

We all remember three different sequences of events, sometimes even different worlds.

[She's... not quite sure what to make of it, either ~~aside from who brought them here likes confusing them a lot~~. She's one of them that was elsewhere before Hinoto-Ri; as were Riku and Terra. In fact, she'd likely tell her this if asked.]

Mm. ...I know what you mean.

[Though circumstances are likely a lot different, compared to one another. Feelings could be similar, at least.]

[Indeed, she looks very different to how he remembers seeing her last, in the Castle That Never Was (it seems like it was a lifetime ago). Just like Kairi had.

He has no idea what happened in their timeline, or if they had ended up visiting a different place, like he had... but it doesn't matter anyways. Naminé is Naminé, regardless of circumstances.]

Hey. Welcome to Hinoto-Ri.

[`I hope, you are all right. I'm glad to see you.`]

[Her whole expression softens. Appropriately, his hair cut is the defining feature of her reunion with him-- there is something different about him from the Riku she knew before, but he is still the same as ever.

She feels the same warmth from him.]

Thank you. It's good to see you again, Riku. [Her lips quirk upwards.] I like the haircut.

You too.

[He snorts then, shaking his head lightly.]

Somehow, that seems to be the first thing anyone has to say to me lately.

[Seriously... first Lea, then Kairi and now her.]

It's true though! You still had your long hair when Kairi and I saw you last.

[She has to wonder if it's a change that happened because he's from further along the timeline than them, or if it's just a change he decided to make when he arrived.]

You wore it for ages, so it's a nice change.

[He reaches up to tug at a strand of his hair, glancing up as if to examine it thoughtfully. As far as he remembers he's been wearing it long for about a year and a bit back home (and well... who knows how long he ended up being at that place Kairi and Naminé as well, had been at).

...He supposes that does sort of qualify as 'for ages'.

Have a shrug and a smile?]

I thought so too.

[And honestly, there are a lot of advantages to keeping his hair this short.]

There's something else different about you too.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but-- [She shakes her head.] It's not important. I'm just happy to see you all again. There are so many things I want to tell you and the others.

I could say the same thing about you.

[That there's plenty difference to the Naminé he last saw in The World That Never Was.]

I guess that's the thing about places like this city. [And Promenade.] We should probably sit down and compare notes sometimes.

[She is right though... it's not important, at least not right now.]

I can come meet you, if you want.

[To give her a tour, to have a more private talk, whatever is on her mind.]

[She laughs faintly, self-consciously hiding her left eye behind her bangs.]

That's a whole story in and of itself.

I'd like that, though. Kairi's still busy getting settled and I'd like a chance to get some fresh air. Where should we meet?

Tell me where you are staying and I'll be there in a flash.

[Sort of.]

I'm in Libra 7-01.

[Hopefully she and Kairi can start living with the other Key~~derps~~bladers later, but for now she's content in her apartment.]

[They'll certainly invite them to move in with them, whenever ~~the city clears the Castle of Departure~~ they find a suitable place.

Half an hour later or so, he knocks at her door at Libra 7-01, ready and free to show her around a bit.]

[She's dressed in a sweater and pair of jeans, beaming when she sees him.]

Riku!

[She flings her arms around him for a hug. Hope he isn't too surprised by that.]

[She looks different, is the first thing he thinks when he sees her - more casual, far more comfortable than he ever remembers seeing her before. Before he can think any more of that, he freezes just slightly when she hugs him - that. is certainly new too. He relaxes just a second later though, surprised but willing to go with it.]

Hey... I'm glad to see you too.

[She almost pulls away when she feels him freeze under her, but decides to hang on for a few moments when he eventually relaxes into it. When she finally does pull away, her embarrassment is evident.]

I'm sorry, was that too much?

[He blinks down at her, then clears his throat, just maybe kind of just a little embarrassed himself.]

N-no, it's fine. I was just surprised.

[He's never known her to be much of a hugger after all.]
