[Joshua is holding his wrist out before him, smiling at the watch's camera. This thing is interesting... this whole place, really, is interesting to him. He's sitting in a cafe, with a steaming cup of coffee in his hand. While aware of his need to spare the money he had for food here- after all he was practically human again- it did good to rest his nerves.]

I've been investigating this extra thirteenth hour in the day as others are calling it. It's quite interesting, really, for more reasons than one. Most interestingly... restrictions on my abilities are lifted during the Thirteenth Hour.

[In other words, he's completely human every other hour of the day, and that's incredibly frustrating.]

I'm perfectly aware that there are those here who are more experienced with this world than I am. I'd like to know more about the Thirteenth Hour, if it's possible. What exactly it is, why it exists, what effects it has on this world... Anything you can tell me~

[Lea's eyes narrow. He's starting to think this is no ordinary obnoxious twelve-year-old brat.]

Ah, and here I thought being grounded and being 'on restriction' were synonymous. It seems there's a bit of vernacular dissonance to blame for the misunderstanding.

[Little punk, not appreciating my obtuse analogies gtfo. Lea's not used to having to rein in anger--he's not used to having to acknowledge he feels it at all--but this kid's really getting under his skin.]

Funny. Usually when people make a point of publicly announcing that they're being oppressed in any way, they want to go on and on about it at length. Our obviously skewed perceptions of one another's intelligence notwithstanding, I find myself wondering why you bothered making knowledge of your daily shortcomings everyone's business if they're nobody's business.

[He just shakes his head and shrugs one shoulder.]

You would have brought a lot less attention to yourself if you'd simply asked about the Thirteenth Hour rather than mentioning your usual state of power-impotence, but I digress.

And I hardly feel like I owe you any explanations when you've been so adamant not to offer any yourself. Nosiness is relative, curly.

[He just likes knowing what he's up against, hour notwithstanding, and you are officially going on his list, Mister. Whatever your abilities may be he's already confident you're predisposed to being a pain in the ass.]
travelsthefarthest: (not as planned//well crap)

[Oh for Light's sake are you for real, Josh.] Man, and you think my analogies are screwy. Food for a child isn't likely to get anybody killed, that answer your question about my curiosity? Usually when somebody's abilities are put in a box it's because they're dangerous, curly.
travelsthefarthest: (yeeeeah about that...)

omg i literally LOL'd your Joshua is great XD

[... Wait. Now he's confused. Now you're being cooperative? Does not compute.]

Uh. Wow, okay, most people get less cooperative if you say you think they're a potential threat. They seem to take offense to the idea and then demonstrate how dangerous they're capable of being. [Have a moment of unadulterated befuddlement on Lea's part, but the indignation and anger that was there a moment ago is now nowhere to be found.] Surely you understand I was hoping to avoid that.

Admittedly now I'm curious as to the identity of this person you say is actually dangerous. [He ventures a hint of a grin.] Or is that too nosy?

[He can deal with having been wrong about you, Josh. He might even apologize for the mistake, eventually. But he's not just gonna take your word for it...]

[Lea narrows his eyes a bit, scrutinizing the boy a moment. Even if he can't lie to Roxas and Xion to save his life, he's still a Grade-A Liar whenever anyone else is the other party, and a truly great liar can always tell when he's being lied to. Funny, though, he's not finding any traces of deliberate falsehood in this kid's presentation. Plenty of sarcasm and a little condescension, but hey, Lea can appreciate both of those things. He appreciates them more when they're not pointed directly at him, but maybe he asked for it this time. This whole thing still has him a little confused, but for now he supposes he can give him the benefit of the doubt. For now.]

Fair enough. If you say you're not in this to hurt anybody that'll do, I suppose. For what it's worth I'm not worried for me, really; there's a few people that are here, though, that I'm... keenly interested in ascertaining their safety. If there's someone here who's dangerous enough that he has to be kept in check by another party, I'd be interested in making sure he was steered clear of.

[He waves a hand then.]

I'm not really looking to start any trouble. Really, picking fights isn't my style--too much effort; got it memorized? [What is being anything but socially retarded and emotionally inept?]

[ooc: no worries! i actually do this often. germs are evil and must be destroyed. 8|]
travelsthefarthest: (got it memorized? ... no seriously)

A reaper? [His eyebrows lift.] Sounds serious.

I'll keep an eye out for that name, though. Eccentric, violent, and dangerous is a pretty volatile cocktail, even if he's been behaving thus far. I'll keep the info under my hood. Cross my heart.

[A pause as Lea takes a moment to debate how to voice appreciation for the information, contrition for the misunderstanding, and gratitude for the boy's efforts to keep this dangerous person in check without betraying his cool exterior. Shh, it's totally a cool exterior you shut your mouth.]

So... maybe let's start over, then. I'm Lea. Got a name?
travelsthefarthest: (yeeeeah about that...)

[personal profile] travelsthefarthest 2012-12-02 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yeah, that's a bit of an important distinction. [Lea's notably not really surprised by the whole 'dealing with the dead' schtick--hell, he's visited the Greek Underworld, so that part's not too weird. Still...] Either way, he sounds like trouble, so the intel's appreciated all the same.

[He's really not a belligerent guy, Josh, he's just socially retarded and kind of emotionally inept. He's still trying to remember what it's like to really have emotions for real again, so bear with him.]

Joshua, huh? Nice to meet you. Er, s-- ah... [He rubs the crown of his head awkwardly.] Sorry. About, you know. Before. Being straightforward's never been my forté--I'm not used to people being reasonable when asked that sort of question.
travelsthefarthest: (got it memorized? ... no seriously)

no worries <3

Interesting is one thing. I like interesting. It's when it toes the line of people getting hurt that I get... antsy.

[Well, but only certain people. Most people can go suck an egg for all he cares, but he'll leave that part out for now. A chuckle and he waves a hand at Joshua.]

Well, I suppose it's a bad habit we share, then. I'll do my best to tone it down a little next time we chat.

[Because he has a feeling there will be a next time.]

[Lea's not really one to blindly give benefit of doubt, but while he's not certain he really trusts Joshua yet, he thinks he trusts that the kid isn't going to let this 'Reaper' guy run wild. So that'll do for now.]

All right; I'm gonna hold you to it, though.

[And then he grins a bit.]

Let's just say I think there's a good chance we'll cross paths again in the future. ['Cuz you kinda seem like trouble. Not necessarily the bad kind, but Lea's found he's always had a knack for finding trouble. Or, at least for trouble finding him.]
