Ahh...uh...
[Miki is trying to keep a straight face but this is harder than she thought.]
...umm I think that Minami is gone. W-well no. Not 'I think'. I know she's gone since her room is occupied by someone else, so I guess she returned to our world...
[Her best friend is gone but she...she doesn't think she could leave herself just yet. Not with what she's gained here.]
I kinda need to clear my mind a bit...
Anyone want to do something?

I-it's alright. I know I'll see her again. It's just not going to be the same without her around, now that I got to see her again.
[So if either you or Akihiko disappear, she is going to throw the world's biggest fit.]
She seemed like an interesting girl.
[Different from Minako, but with a few of the same traits.]
And... the apartment door's open if y'want.
[He knows he's not the best company, and other people are probably better distractions than he is.]
[Video] 1/3
[And one time she tried to get you and Minami together. Maybe if she had tried harder...no. No use thinking about what ifs and buts now. She was just happy one of you was around and...dare she say a little less grumpy?
Or at least getting some.]Well, I have been neglecting my cooking skills lately. With a budget it's too easy to indulge on pre-made foods and getting lazy about that...I could use a little refresher if you feel in a teaching mood later tonight?
[She promises she won't pour an entire bottle of wine into the pan.]
Minato said he'll be coming over, otherwise I'd be heading to your apartment right now.
[Video] 2/3
Oh! Minato and I are cool now.
[She almost does the sign, but stops herself at the last minute.]
I baked him an apology pie a while ago. Did I tell you that? I forget...[She starts to trail off.] I suppose at least now I don't always imagine the Strega leader every time I look at him....
[Video] 3/3 A tale of Miki in 3 emotional icons.
...so yeah.
Cooking lessons.
Later tonight.
That would.
Be.
Great.
[Silent blink. HELP ME her eyes scream. SAVE ME FROM MY OWN STUPIDITY.]
Re: [Video] 3/3 A tale of Miki in 3 emotional icons.
But given that she's a Sanada, he's more than willing to outright ignore some of the things he's hearing, and construct them in a the way she probably meant versus what it sounds like—because right now the words are tumblings out of her mouth like she was six steps away from faceplanting onto one of Freud's couches and letting the old man have it. So, for the moment, he's happy to shove some of those things away into the back of his mind.
Though maybe she does like Minato, who knows. She probably wouldn't be the first. But if she doesn't, she doesn't and he's not going to say a word on the matter. She'll figure it out on her own. ]
If... that's what you want, I'll be around.
[As for being slightly less grumpy, well,
wouldn't you like to know?]And no, you never mentioned it.
Oh Shinji, you are the best bro
No it's okay, that's one detail of your life she's happy not to know about.Yes. Good idea. Let's not. Talk about those things, she would say. In fact, thank you for just going on as normal like she hadn't messed up too much.]Oh uh y-yeah! I made him an apple pie. It was pretty good...
[World's least subtle subject change go!]
...Anyway, if you had plans tonight, I definitely won't stop you either. [She smiles a little.] I'm pretty good at cooking actually it's just easier to grab something when I'm busy training but...["But it was more fun cooking with you."]
Of course, I learned most of what I know from one of the best.
[She knows that just saying 'from the best' might get protests that he's not. Ergo, she adds a few words to diffuse it a little, so to speak. A roundabout way of praising him, but she knows how he is and it's something she's quietly learned to do over the years.]

Stupid things like that still shouldn't mean anything.]
I don't have plans. Just drop by when you want; doesn't matter to me. Bring that book you have with you.
no subject
Alright. I'll come by later tonight.
[Wait the book? How did he...oh he must have been talking with Minako. Kinda strange he'd ask fro that in the first place, but she's not going to question it too much...]
...alright! I'll bring it along, if that's what you want.
no subject
Might as well look at it.
Unless you had something different in mind.
no subject
[She's already writing and sticking a post-it note on the wall not to forget.]
no subject
I'll see you then.
[AND LATER THAT NIGHT]
Who could it could be...]
[THERE WAS A PARTY EVERYONE ELSE MISSED OUT ON]
He opens the door, taking a moment to look her over briefly, before letting her inside.
His apartment is clean, neat, and mostly barren as usual. The fridge is stocked, however, with food he had bought when he went out earlier, when he had made a rough guess of what supplies he needed. He figured the book she was bringing could give him an idea of what she wanted to make or where she even wanted to start. Be an decent sacrifice to the pollotarian gods, at any rate. ]
Hey.
[IT WAS A COOKING PARTY AND NO ONE ELSE WAS INVITED.]
[Oh by book, you clearly meant this giant one she brought with her that looks NOTHING like that cookbook you saw before?
Because that's what she's holding on more tightly than a newborn infant.]
[POOR JUNK FOOD-EATING BASTARDS]
...That's the book?
[Because it does not look like the cookbook he spotted the last time he was in her apartment. What is this book she brought, and why does it resemble some old woman's favorite scrapbook? He's pretty sure she could kill a bastard with it if she felt like dropping it and letting gravity do its work.]
[Just... wtf is this?]
[AT LEAST IT'S NOT JUST PROTEIN]
[Wait what's with the reaction. You're the one who wanted to see it.]
Minako-senpai told you about it, right?
[Or is this a misunderstand...]
[SCREW PROTEIN, WE'VE GOT VEGETABLES]
[I'D SAY SOMETHING ABOUT "AND NUTS" HERE BUT THAT SOUNDS WRONG.]
....oh. Tch, I should have realized that. Sorry, I'll go get it now. [She shuffles with the book in her arm.] And this is my photobook. Can I leave it here while I go get my cookbook?
[WELL, WE'VE GOT VEGETABLES AND NUTS AND MAYBE A DEAD CHICKEN]
Yeah. Just put it on the table.
[SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT MIXTURE FOR A VOODOO CEREMONY]
[There is now one(1) photo album on the table. Miki gives him a small wave as she closes the door.]
I'll be right back!
no subject
He might not remember the rest of the memories in the book... but he remembers this.
...Not that he's at all sentimental about it or anything.]
no subject
Tch and her without her camera at that moment. No...no she couldn't have done that even if she had her camera.]
Hey. I'm back!
[With the right book this time (let's pretend it's actually a Japanese book)]
no subject
He turns his head, spots the book—yeah that was the one—and mumbles the ritualized "welcome back." Comes out automatically almost.]
You've got a hell of a lot of photos. Beats me why you need them all for.
no subject
Sometimes a memory just needs a little visual help. It makes it easier to share, too.
[Did you enjoy the 'put stuff on Shinji's head while he's sleeping as usual' montage, she was pretty proud of that series.]
