[There's a scrambling sound and a few mutterings of "you turn on the video over here, don't you?" before the video finally turns out, showing the somewhat morose face of one (1) Sam Erstwhile, disheveled brown hair almost covering his eyes. He glances away with a slight frown.]

Um, right, what was I going to say here...

[And then a nod as he looks back up.]

Right! Right. Erm, yeah. Hello to all of you, I guess. I'm Sam and...I just arrived a few days ago, so I'm sorry if I'm still new to all of this.

[He tries his best at a smile, but it's kind of a pathetic try, at best- his mouth just quirks upward for one second before dropping down to it's usual position.]

I...I just am a little confused, honestly. I mean, people have told me about the Persona thing and the fact that we have to fight monsters and all, but, I mean, why were we chosen in the first place? I know plenty of other people who would be way better at this than me. And it's not like I applied or anything, so...what's so special about me?

[He sighs, scratching the back of his head.] Somebody I talked to before talked about how they choose us based on our souls, but...I just want to hear what other people think. I'm not really interested in why we were chosen, more like how we were chosen, if that makes sense. What sets us apart from all the other people from where we come from?

Because, I dunno...I think they made a really huge mistake when they chose me.

Oh, sorry! It's customary back in Japan to attach "-san" when referring to people who are older than you, or you're not that close to them. Y'know, out of respect. Does it bother you?

Maybe...though in my case, sleep often hinders more than it helps...

Yeah, see, that's what I'm so confused about. You have gods, you have angels, you have people who can sing and create new lands through some sort of magic...and then there's me. Boring ol', normal me. It's like they totally missed the person they were aiming for.

[He scratches the back of his head.] So...are you all agents of good, or am I to believe that's wrong, too?

Oh, well...I actually don't know. Like, I am older than you, but the whole "deserving respect" business, that's a bit iffy.

[And then a pause as he considers.]

Sure. Go ahead...I don't want to impose something unnatural on you, really...

You could try practicing with a partner or something. Like a sparring match.

It's easiest when you're actually in danger, but that might not be the best way to practice.

[ He laughs, but that's probably something he'll worry over later. ]

Okay, so how about I stick with "Sam-kun" so we're on a more equal level? [ Plus it's less likely to make him snicker during inappropriate times! ]

Um...that would be easy if I actually knew how to fight in the first place.

At this point, danger might look like the best option.

I-I try not to...but considering I ruin everything I do, it's only natural.

[A pause, and then a nod.] I'm guessing that's less formal, is it? ...Alright. I'm fine with that.

But, before you do anything too dangerous, there might be someone around who can teach you how to fight. Learning the basics might help.

Hey, maybe they need normal. Besides, no matter how normal you are now, you've still got a lovely little spirit hanging around you that's willing to put up a fight.

Aaand. I guess it depends on what you define as 'good.' Well, not for the other two. Pit's pretty good and the other one...good pretty much shines out of his ass.
