[primordial]

[There's a scrambling sound and a few mutterings of "you turn on the video over here, don't you?" before the video finally turns out, showing the somewhat morose face of one (1) Sam Erstwhile, disheveled brown hair almost covering his eyes. He glances away with a slight frown.]

Um, right, what was I going to say here...

[And then a nod as he looks back up.]

Right! Right. Erm, yeah. Hello to all of you, I guess. I'm Sam and...I just arrived a few days ago, so I'm sorry if I'm still new to all of this.

[He tries his best at a smile, but it's kind of a pathetic try, at best- his mouth just quirks upward for one second before dropping down to it's usual position.]

I...I just am a little confused, honestly. I mean, people have told me about the Persona thing and the fact that we have to fight monsters and all, but, I mean, why were we chosen in the first place? I know plenty of other people who would be way better at this than me. And it's not like I applied or anything, so...what's so special about me?

[He sighs, scratching the back of his head.] Somebody I talked to before talked about how they choose us based on our souls, but...I just want to hear what other people think. I'm not really interested in why we were chosen, more like how we were chosen, if that makes sense. What sets us apart from all the other people from where we come from?

Because, I dunno...I think they made a really huge mistake when they chose me.

Has anyone ever talked to him after he's brought them here? Or is that literally the last time you see him?

I haven't seen him again, personally, but I've met his servants in the Velvet Room.

[primordial]

Velvet room...?

What is that, like his headquarters?

[trulyworthit]

Yes! [She speaks quickly now, very animated.] Lady Cloche and I sang Metafalica with everyone! We made land! A big continent, with these wonderful rivers, and so many flowers!

Songs can actually do a lot of things in my world, but Metafalica is the craziest, eheh.

You...made land?! With a song?

[WHOAH now this he has got to understand.]

But how does that even work? Like...is it magic? Something scientific, perhaps?

[trulyworthit]

We call it magic, but it's actually based in Wave Theory. [And Wave Theory... is complicated.] I, um- only know a bit of how it works.

Basically, the Song is a command to the Tower... and the Tower uses energy to make the command real. In the case of Metafalica, it took a lot of energy. That's why we needed everyone on Metafalss to sing with us. All their hopes and wishes made it real.

And if everybody sang, that means anybody could help in sending these commands to the Tower, huh? Even the most regular people could do something like that...or does the Tower only listen to the rest of the people besides the Maidens in special cases like that?

[trulyworthit]

The Tower provides basic Song Magic for any Reyvateil- oh, um- that's what Lady Cloche and I are. Only Reyvateils can get the Tower to respond. Some stuff in the Tower is really important, so only the Goddess can access it.

The only reason I can sing those high-level Songs is because a piece of the Goddess is in me. So, I can sort of sing in Her place.

Are Reyvateils born the way they are or do they earn it? I mean, I'm sorry about all these questions...but this is rather interesting, I have to admit.

And, ah, you have a goddess...what happens to it if you die, though? The piece? Does it get reborn in someone else? Can you even die?

[trulyworthit]

Oh, it's, um- really easy for Reyvateils to die. We're born human, but awaken as Reyvateils around 13. From then, we immediately know Hymnos, the language used to sing to the Tower. But, then... we also start needing a life-extending agent.

If a Reyvateil doesn't get the agent every three months- they die. I don't know if the D-Cellophane would die with me or not. Since I didn't grow up at the Maiden, I'm not sure how or when it got there...

[primordial]

Well, now.

[They die easily, huh...]

Hmmm. So using your ability has a price, doesn't it... Typical. Power always has a price, whether bargained for or whether you're born with it.

But you'll survive here, right? You have the agent with you?

[trulyworthit]

Hm? Oh! Yeah. The government has it, for some reason... [She laughs, letting the gloomy mood vanish.] But- thanks. For worrying about me.

[primordial]

Do they? Wonder what else they have up there...Hmmm.

[Oh, worrying about her? What a thing to say... He seems to be flustered, as if the very words are too much for him to hear.]

T-that's not a problem. I was just asking.

By the way, I don't think I got your name...

[And oh, he gets video! How nice. He turns his own video, looking ever so worried.]

Really, no, you're the one who should be upset, I'm sorry...[But then he eventually looks up, edges of his mouth slightly twisted up in a very tiny smile.]

Ah, Luca Trulyworth. I like that. It's fun to say...I'm Sam. Sam Erstwhile. A pleasure, Luca.

Uhm... it's like another dimension, like the demon world. The servants of Philemon tend to our Personas.

[primordial]

Oh, so that's where our Personas are! Huh. And here I was thinking they'd be inside us or...something.

That sounds stupid, I'm sorry.

Actually, you're right. They are in our head. But Igor and the other can offer new ones or fuse ones we have to make new ones, or take back ones we don't want. I think. I'm not sure about that last one.

[primordial]

[A shake of his shaggy head.]

Yeah, sure, stronger...not if I die first because of me getting eaten by monsters at night.
