[It's been over four months since Bro had that unfortunate incident with Jack Noir in the Medium. Four months since he arrived in Hinoto-Ri, because apparently that's the only damn place he gets to go. From one monster-ridden videogameish hellhole world into the next.

What sucks most about Hinoto-Ri is that there's a severe lack of Striders. In fact, ever since his alternate universe teenage self left, the city's gone even further below the minimum of required Strider. He knows Dave can take care of himself, considering Bro taught him pretty damn well, but there comes a time in every dude's life where he misses his family.

Especially when said family is prooobably still stuck in a monster-ridden videogameish hellhole. Lil Cal's a great bro and all, but talking to yourself can get old after a while.]

so.

you guys all have family back home right? siblings and parents and annoying aunts who like to pull your cheek even though youve grown to be twice their size? grannies who send you itchy socks for christmas each year?

so tell me about 'm. who do you miss most?

would you have 'm here if you could?

I got adopted by a family, but I left them when we immigrated to America. I wish Toshiko was here, though. We've lived together for like... fifty years.

... We're just friends, I swear. It's just hard to find other supernatural creatures you get along with sometimes.

Yeah, it's kind of weird seeing so many of them out in the open, but it's kind of nice, too.

... Until they start making trouble for people. Then it just makes everyone look bad.

It's probably a big change for you, so I understand why you'd think it's weird. Honestly being back in Japan - any Japan - is weird for me. I'd been in America for over a century before I ended up here. I thought of myself as more American than Japanese in a lot of ways. A lot of modern Japanese customs are kind of strange for me.

I mean staring at cherry blossoms is nice and all, but I miss Superbowl parties and March Madness. Not so much because of the sports, just because of the parties and people you share a common culture with.

I mostly hang out with people who are in high school or college, so yeah. Parties.

Though I know it's more than that. I've seen it change but the commercialism is part of it. It's just the making a huge deal out of something that's not that important in the long run, while eating giant amounts of food and yelling a lot. I know it's commercialism the whole way through, but that's not always a bad thing.

Though fuck Black Friday, that's pretty much the worst.

Family? Or something like that.
hachitaro: (suspicious.)

Tanuki don't have parents. We just kind of... appear, usually near villages. There's no real good explanation as to why. Magic is kind of resistant to research, even by people who know about magic as well as anyone can.
