That's, uh, RPG-speak for 'side story'. You know. Sometimes you get to play as the bad guy. Or like, the mascot character or something.

...Anyway, I'm not sure if you're saying you want to be a spy or if you're saying you think they're hiding something.

It's highly possible that they are hiding something from us, but I wouldn't put that crime with the Anoli.

I don't want to be a spy either. I want to join their cause.

Were you around for what happened that first day? Those guys didn't care what was in the way; they just blew it up! If there's ever been an unambiguous antagonist with a capital A, it's the Anoli.

No one's gonna help you unless you find one of them yourself.

I might have been and I might not have been; but I do know what they did, and my decision was only finalized after those actions.

Out of the two factions on either side of this glorified war the Anoli are the easiest to trust, and that should tell you something about the faction you have allied with.

Of course I would stay with that faction, too. I simply want to branch out a little.

It's tough to argue with something like that, I'll agree, but it is not like I would not do my own share of work on the "good" side of things, either.

All it tells me is that the person I'm talking to has a really warped idea of what trust is. The 'defenders' of this city are practically see-through compared to what I've been dealing with.

Good luck 'trusting' the terrorists. Let me know how that goes for you.

I can think of a plethora of things to do for the government - starting with advising them to give people more information.

I have a few more, but I think that would be my top concern since it would improve everyone else's chance of survival.

I guess you think joining the Anoli will give you the answers you need. Good luck with that. In my experience I've had a better time getting answers by asking questions and not by killing.

If I didn't trust the people who gave me food, water and shelter then what would possess me to trust a group of militant extremists? It is not that I would trust them but that I'd prefer their company as they are more blatant about their secrets.

I wish you the same amount of luck trusting the rulers of this city.

Though aren't you curious about the Anoli in the slightest?

I would love to be able to ask but I lack the capacity to trust anyone enough to take their words as proof - so their actions will have to do.

If I'm wrong and it turns out that the Anoli are the villains and the government here are the heroes then I'll simply fade into the shadows as if nothing ever happened.

How the hell can they be more blatant about their secrets when you haven't even met any of them yet? Don't talk around it. You're just the kind of person who gets a kick out of taking advantage of a crappy situation.

[Atsuro is restraining himself from writing harsher words. Though his sense of judgment is far less severe than Keisuke's, he couldn't abide this, nonetheless - siding with the Anoli or taking advantage of a demon invasion to extort and harm others. It was all the same. The same kind of person, the same thinly veiled excuses.]

Sure, I'm curious. I'm planning to sit down and have a nice chat the next time one of them tries to stab me in the face.

You don't make any sense. Why are you so willing to trust the Anoli if you can't trust anyone? Sounds like you just want an excuse to wreak havoc.

I was using an oxymoron for emphasis since they don't really hide their intent to murder, pillage and destroy.

At least you mentioned that the Anoli try to stab you in the face, not in the back.


And finally I'd like to add that it's not that I'm taking advantage of a crappy situation - there is nothing in this for me - but rather it would be more interesting to inspect both sides of the coin.

I know I can't trust the Anoli and I assume I wont be expected to, either.

I don't remember saying I trusted them in the slightest, just that they were easier to trust than the government running the city.

And wreaking havoc is not my idea of fun; I'd prefer to inspect havoc.

The government is doing exactly that.

Align yourself with the Anoli and you won't be investigating anything. You'll just be instigating more violence. Why are they more trustworthy than the people who are trying to protect you?

Oh, geez, what was I thinking? Of course that makes them better by default. Open homicide instead of covert manipulation is definitely the way to go.

And I know you're just trying to be clever, but they stabbed wherever they could reach.

Some people don't deserve to be heard out. Like terrorists and murderers. If they had an agenda that didn't involve being assholes, they would have told us already to try and sway us to their side.

I hate to repeat myself but I don't trust people enough to let them do my investigating for me.

The government? The ones who brought me here to fight one behalf of their God who has yet to shown his face on the battlefield? That government?

The government didn't bring anyone here. They're just trying to make the best of the situation.

Don't forget the government's providing you with free housing. They've given you enough supplies to last you a month, which is plenty of time to find a job to support yourself. You don't have to fight for them, but that doesn't mean you should go join an organization that won't support you like that and will bring harm to people who've done nothing to you.

If I was given the choice between two people; one who said he was going to attack and attempt to kill me at one point and only had a slightly powerful weapon and another who swore that he would protect me, and who constantly reminded me that safety was a priority but had an extremely powerful weapon at his disposal then I would choose to spend my time with the first person.

If we assume that the government here are the second person then it becomes much worse when we aren't given a choice.

It's probably made worse by the fact that everything he's saying he only half believes.]
