That's correct. There's a theory that every choice splits off into two universes - one where one choice was made, and one where the other was made.

I don't think I'm from the far future, although I guess I could be. I think I might be from another galaxy entirely.

But yes, there's plenty of nature left. Some planets are all cities, but some are almost pristine garden worlds, and a lot more are somewhere in between.
