[Well, this is certainly something he doesn't see every day. He didn't expect the portal to the demon world to bring him to a place that looks as civilized as this. Not that he was complaining. First order of business, though- he figured out how to use this eventually, with experience involving the Gauntlet. Besides the odd vision and subsequent deportment...]

Good day. [He's talking to humans, hopefully.] I have a favor to ask. If anyone sees or has heard any word from two persons named Flynn and Walter, could you tell me? Even better if you can inform me of their whereabouts.

I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me what this place is about, as well, but I understand if that's too much trouble. [Pause.] Is this part of the demon world?

Don't think so! At least it's not the same as what the demon world was like back home, but I never really saw that one personally. Just summoned demons from it.

"Hello! Well, this isn't the demon world - it's a city called Hinoto-Ri. My name's Kotoha, it's nice to meet you!"

The demon world? Hardly.

[She seems human, and nice enough. Also knows about demons. But she doesn't seem like a Hunter or Samurai, either...] Thank you. Though, if this isn't the demon world...

[This is so confusing.] What do you mean 'back home', by the way? Were you from Tokyo as well?

"A city? Oh- my name is Jonathan. It's nice to meet you too."

[Straightforward enough.]

I see... do you know what kind of world this is, then? And I did arrive here quite suddenly... and I should be in the demon world. For various reasons. [uh.]

"Okay, I'll be sending over a text file with the basic information now, alright?"

BOOM.

"That should explain the basics, and while you're reading that I can see if anyone by those names are in the registry, okay?"

Yep! It might not be the same Tokyo you're thinking of, though. People here come from different worlds.

...Wow. Well, it's simple enough for him to understand.

In the way that while the whole situation is all in-his-face, it's slightly similar to the time when he first became a Samurai. "Oh! Thank you very much. Where is the City Hall, though?"

[Wait hold on backtrack there]

People here come from different worlds? That's... rather jarring. Did your Tokyo have demons and exist under a ceiling?

Definitely no ceiling. We didn't have demons up until really recently, when for a couple of reasons they started appearing and the city had to be locked down so they didn't spread.

"Leo Ward, in the center of town! Also, looking it up, it appears that there's nobody named Flynn or Walter currently registered as Visitors, sorry."

You're in good company, then. You'll find many here who arrived the same way. This city is called Hinoto-Ri, and it's in the rather unfortunate habit of borrowing people from other worlds to solve its problems.

There was a time Tokyo didn't have demons either, though... [He supposes he should've expected something like that, being sucked through the portal to the demon world and perhaps being dumped off at any random location with people who've gone through similar.

...Though. Is this really just 'any random location'?] What was your Tokyo like? Before and after demons.

"Thank you, again- though, there are demons here, correct? Is it possible to converse with them during this... 13th Hour?" Now, to go off and find out what this 'Persona' thing is...

Hinoto-Ri... tell me, what are all its 'problems'? Unless the 13th Hour and subsequent demons are problem enough, which I can see why...

That's the bulk of its problems, yes. There's also the fact that the world outside the city is supposedly badly destroyed and utterly uninhabitable, though thanks to the barriers around it I haven't had the chance to verify the truth of that claim. Every several months a larger demon based on one of the signs of the western zodiac makes an appearance, typically causing some form of city-wide hysteria in the process. The most recent one trapped the entire city in a week-long time loop until it was located and defeated, though the effects have varied widely. There also appears to be no set pattern to their appearance. It's quite frustrating.

Kotoha sucks in a breath through her teeth, looking uncertain.

"Not really, as far as I can tell? They vanish once the 13th Hour is over, mostly. You can talk with the ones that are native to the city, though! Most of the ones that are really integrated with the populace are apparently low-rankers, for the most part. The really strong ones move around behind the scenes, unless they're Visitors themselves."

That's... certainly not what I'm used to.

I was supposed to receive a 'Persona' of some kind, though... and apparently, an Evoker will awake it? What are these Personas like?

...Excuse me for my ignorance.

That is indeed the case. Although before you discover this on your own, I should point out that the introductory materials you have most likely already received leave out the fact that an Evoker is a gun, and to use it you have to shoot yourself in the head. Surprisingly, this is not even a fraction as painful or deadly as you might imagine.

Weeell. It was a really big city, kind of crowded and it didn't have any magic but the technology level was about as high as here.

During the lockdown, things kind of... went to pieces, and it was impossible to enforce law and order anymore. A lot of people were killed, by demons or by each other.

"Native to this city? If it's not an inconvenience, could you direct me to one of them?" If this has anything to do with what happened back in his world, asking demons will probably be the fastest way to find out.

[Well yes, the pamphlet indeed left that out. He doesn't use guns much- that's mostly Flynn and Walter- but he knows how that mystic relics works. And pointing it to your head is Not A Good Idea.]

Oh. ...Eh? [HOW IS THAT NOT FATAL]

I thought I would save you the surprise. If you find that thought distasteful, I recommend wandering into the middle of the park during the 13th Hour completely unarmed and undefended.

...I see. It's not too different from the Tokyo in my world, then. Unfortunately.
