[Those at Andromeda High School during break that happen to be passing by the music room might be in for a small treat: With the door left open just slightly on accident, the sound of a piano being played can be heard throughout the hall. The skill of whoever is playing it is more than obvious: On par with that of a professional, or perhaps even beyond that, some would say, a soft and vibrant melody escapes the room while it's player is completely engrossed in the music and his thoughts. Of course the school's piano would draw him here eventually, like a moth to a flame. Music was the one passion he could never fully give up on, after all. Like an addict, the desire to play would continue to call him back to music, no matter how much he tried otherwise to pull himself away.

But if anyone stopped to listen and made their presence aware, the music would stop abruptly.

Ayumu had been biding his time for the network to begin functioning properly again before moving forward with questions he needed to start asking, but now, with the city rebuilding and a fragile peace slowly settling, he knew it was the best time he'd get. ]

This place can fix chronic illnesses or health defects people had before their arrival, right? That's what it seems like, anyway. We can even heal injuries with magic.

What about more abnormal ailments? Things that can't be explained by science, even bordering on supernatural or magical. Has this place show itself to be able to have any affect on things like that?

...Why? You thinking of getting a job there too?

Maybe, if they'll take me. [He shrugs. A job somewhere would be nice.] With what the city gives us, you can't exactly afford much. And I feel a bit guilty using up city funds after the past month.

The manager's pretty relaxed... I don't see why he'd have a problem with it. And the job itself isn't so bad, since it's mostly making sure the crane games are stocked and no one's breaking any machines.

I don't have a lot of qualifications, so that's good. [Or... any qualifications, really. He kept the house while his sister worked, but that was the only 'job' he had.]

It's a pretty basic job. All of the training is paid, so you won't have to worry about that, either.

Sounds good to me. [He steps away from the piano over towards Hizumi, before giving him a questioning look.] I assume you won't mind if I check it out, then.

'Course not. My shift is soon anyway, so I was just killing time before I had to go.

[And he'll step outside again, pausing to wait for Ayumu so he can catch up.]

[Ayumu follows him out, picking up his bag from the floor on the way. That hadn't been what he was asking, but the answer was clear enough all the same-- Things were going back to normal between them. Well, as normal as they could be. His presence wouldn't be disruptive.] Think I'll come along then, thanks.

It'll be a good opportunity for you, too. Let me guess - in all this time I've been busy, you probably haven't met many new people, right?

[And with his own bag slung over one shoulder, Hizumi will begin to walk, leading the way.]

Not really. [A shrug. Ayumu wasn't a social person by sheer nature, and he'd been occupied with Hizumi for a while, before everything got messy both with him and with the city.]

You're really hopeless without me around. Don't tell me it's the same in our world...

[Ugh.

Got it in one.] It's not like I go out of my way to get all chummy with every person I meet.

You don't have to be chummy with everyone to at least meet a few people.

You're not going to let this go, are you.

It's good to have a network.

[Siiiiiigh. What is he going to do with you, Hizumi...]

You're right, but I'm not going to force it either.

Still, if you don't go out of your way to meet people, you aren't going to get anywhere. Plenty of people may want to be your friend, but if you act like you don't want to talk, they'll respect that and keep their distances.

It's not like I keep people away on purpose. [Except he did, in a way. He didn't invite people to come near him at all, just like Hizumi said.]

Tell me the last time you greeted someone you didn't already know.

Yesterday, at the grocery store. [He greeted the cashier. Politely.
