Um.

[Yeah, this is starting out great. There is a reason why Sam doesn't talk on the network often, and that is because he's pretty much the most awkward young man you've ever seen. He glances away from the camera, as if embarrassed by what he's going to say next.]

So...Halloween is coming soon, right? Just a few days...I just had a couple questions for people because I was, well, kind of curious. First of all...what is Halloween like where you come from? On Earth, it used to be the day when the dead would walk the earth and rituals were performed not to make them angry...but I'm guessing it's different in other places, right? And if you don't have a Halloween...well, I guess that's okay too. It's a pretty cool holiday, though.

[He pauses again and scratches the back of his head.]

And this is a silly question, but...I really have no idea what to wear for Halloween. Do any of you have any good suggestions? Something easy to do would be nice. I don't want to spend too much time on it.

"Desco is gonna be a vampire!"

Pause.

"She's also going to try and convince her girlfriend to be a werewolf so we can do a couple look!"

A vampire is good, but...[HOLD ON WAIT WHAT IS THAT SECOND PART AGAIN.]

You have a girlfriend?!

[tyrantball]

Nod nod nod.

"Desco has TWO girlfriends!"

Looking very proud of herself.

"At first Desco thought she had a boyfriend, but then when she told him he said he was actually a girl and already had a girlfriend, so it turned out that Desco had a girlfriend! And since everything that belongs to Desco's girlfriend also belongs to Desco, it means Desco has another girlfriend that she hasn't met yet!"

[primordial]

Desco, you're...you're too young to have a girlfriend, you know that, right? Let alone two...

[The big brother instinct is just screaming on the inside, so don't mind him.]

H-how old are they?

[tyrantball]

Pause. It's a much longer pause than is usual for Desco.

"...Desco doesn't know."

[primordial]

[He lets out a sigh.]

Do you at least know their names or are these just random people you latched onto?

[tyrantball]

"Yes! Well, Desco has never met her second girlfriend and can't remember her name right now, but she properly knows Tsukasa! Desco even gave her a place on her mid-boss squad!"

[primordial]

Tsukasa? [The name sounds vaguely familiar.] And just how large is this mid-boss squad of yours?

[tyrantball]

"Desco has two mid-bosses now! Tsukasa has seniority, and also Desco's blatant favoritism, but the city corrupternment very graciously sent Desco a puppy lady to act as her personal peon! Puppy Lady will get her official Mid-Boss title when Desco is satisfied with her job performance."

[primordial]

You got the talking dog onto your team? I don't think she's cut out for the evil life, if you ask me...

[A pause.] Where do I fit into your little hierarchy?

[tyrantball]

"As Desco's big brother, you are obviously a Final Boss in your own right! Desco hopes you will someday sweep into the middle of her squad and properly terrify them with an austere and solemn display of your nightmarish power, redoubling their resolve to serve Desco to the best of their abilities!"

[primordial]

...

[There's a pause, and he opens his mouth, as if to say something in retort to that, but it seems like he rethinks it over for a bit before finally speaking.]

You know, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea.

[tyrantball]

"I know, right?! Desco is so excited!"

[primordial]

Are you going to have a meeting of them sometime soon, or what?

[tyrantball]

"Desco wants at least two more, and Puppy Lady is still on probation, so probably not!"

[primordial]

Aw, that sucks. How come the talking dog is on probation, though? Did she do something wrong?

[tyrantball]

"She's untested in the heat of battle, so Desco can't move her to the active squad yet."

[primordial]

Oh. Well, just have to wait until she, um, gets used to battle, I guess.

[A pause.]

Have you ever celebrated Halloween before, Desco?

[tyrantball]

"This is gonna be Desco's VERY FIRST Halloween!"

[primordial]

What? Really? You didn't celebrate it back home?

[tyrantball]

"Desco lived in Daddy's lab until she was two! And then she went to Hades and met Big Sis, and demons don't celebrate Halloween, so she didn't get to do it when she was three, either. We did put on costumes and beat up demons for candy money, but Big Sis said it wasn't the same."

[primordial]

That isn't how you do Halloween at all, though. Like...you didn't do the trick or treating? Going door to door? None of that?

[tyrantball]

"We went from door to door when we were beating up demons?"

...that's just home invasion, Desco.

[primordial]

No, no, no. That isn't... [He sighs.] You have to go up to people's doors and ask them for candy. Not beat them up for it.

[tyrantball]

"...does that really work?"

[primordial]

On Halloween, it does. Don't do it on other days, though, people might get mad.

[tyrantball]

"Wow...Big Bro is so knowledgeable!"

[primordial]

[he's a bit flustered by the compliment.]

H-hey, everyone knows that back home. Though I can maybe see why all the worlds don't have the same view of it...

All Hallows' Eve serves the same purpose here as it did in my world and, I suspect, in yours. ...complete with it turning into a reason to wander around in costume and obtain candy.

[Not that she minded that part when she was small.]

As for what to wear...I do not know. The last I recall it wasn't mandatory to wear a costume, correct?

Haha, yeah...all the spooky things they used to do has just turned into fun stuff for kids. Not that that's a bad thing, but man, the holiday used to be really terrifying.

[And a shrug.] No, it isn't, but I thought it would be more fun to join in, you know? Contribute to holiday spirit...

Halloween at home is kinda what you described, only that's just what it was like way back when. Now it's just trick or treating and stuff. But Halloween Town takes it really seriously. They count down to Halloween every year and try to make every year even better than the last.

[But the second question...]

Mm... just wear a sheet and be a ghost.

[Creative.]

Halloween town? There's an actual place that celebrates it? Sounds more like an amusement park, to me...

[He shrugs.] Maybe. Though I think all the kids would make fun of me for that.

[resipiscent]

Yeah, all the residents are halloweeny, too. The "king of halloween" is a living skeleton, and his dog is a little ghost.

[Sorry, but he can't help but laugh.]

How would they know it was you?

[primordial]

A l-living skeleton? You've got to be joking, right?

[He pales slightly at the mental image.]

The voice, maybe? I couldn't pull off a good "boo" to save my life.

[resipiscent]

Nah, he's all right. Sounds scary, but he's not a bad guy.

[Well, maybe...]

... Are you really friends with all that many kids though? Just talk growly all night.

[primordial]

Still...I don't know if I wanted to be in the same place as him.

[A shrug.] I actually know a lot of little kids. And growly, huh? What if it hurts my voice?

[resipiscent]

[Laughter at that.] Maybe we should think of a different costume, then.

[primordial]

Y-yeah...

[He glances away at the laughter, looking embarrassed.]

Maybe wearing a costume isn't a good idea. I'm probably too old for Halloween.

[resipiscent]

Why do you say that? I'm dressing up.

[As far as he can tell, Sam, you guys are the same age.]

[primordial]

I-I don't know. I mean, I'm nineteen...don't people stop trick-or-treating and dressing up at, like, fifteen?

[resipiscent]

... Do they?

[He's never heard of that. When he was fifteen he thinks he would have thought Sam was right and stopped, but.... now he's not so sure.]

I don't...I don't know. That's why I'm asking. I mean, I remember when I was that age, some kids stopped doing that stuff, but not all of them...so I'm not sure.
