Still never going to get used to not having to get used to this thing.

Okay, so. I think I've got a little more handle on how this city works. Thanks to everybody who helped me get my feet on the ground. I never thought I'd be glad for Metatropolis being weird sh... stuff central, but it makes adjusting go faster.

[He knows this place drags kids here, or at least teenagers. Self-censoring is go.]

Though I've got to say, the coffin and garlic jokes just because I'm used to the night shift wear a little thin. I can't be the only guy here who usually gets up when the sun goes down, can I? Anybody else get that feeling?

[This is his attempt at being subtle about saying "where my Kindred at, yo?" Because he's not used to coming to a new city without actual introductions and contacts and things. As much as he hates his clan's organization sometimes, it makes knowing who's in on things much easier. Not like he can ask normal people where he can get blood at this time of night.]

Oh, by the way. Guess I should introduce myself if anyone cares. I'm Maugris, I'm new here. I know about weird occult or paranormal things, so if you need help with that stuff, let me know - just know that I'm usually asleep during the day.

Uh, wow. That's pretty high up, yeah. I... think. I'm afraid I don't know a lot about infernal politics, I don't usually chat with, er, you guys much.

[This is him hinting at not having ever heard either of those names. Demon lords declaring each other rivals sounds more like a kung fu movie than the regents of hell.]

So, you're not the same kind of demon that comes out at night around here, are you?

"Of course not! Desco is the Final Boss, and those are just fodder characters."

Her voice practically drips with disdain at those last two words.

"Desco is strong and amazing and cute AND plot-relevant!"

... Wow, life has an actual plot in your world? I haven't managed to find one beyond "stuff happens, try not to die".

"Desco died once. She's not a fan."

You're awfully talkative for a dead demon.

"That's because Desco was once more cloaked in flesh and sent to harrow the living! All that really happened is that Desco started living in Hades instead of Daddy's lab."

Practicing the "big scary demon" talk, huh? Do you do a lot of harrowing?

... Why were you living in his lab before? Did he summon you or what?

"Daddy made Desco out of demon DNA! So she lived in the lab because that is where she was born!"

I didn't think demons even had DNA. I thought they were just sort of... made out of mystical hell stuff.

Desco crosses her arms over her chest and pouts.

"Hmmph! You humans are so unscientific! It's like only Daddy and Big Sis have any brains at all, sometimes!"

Sorry, I'm used to people not being out of the same stuff as us mortals.

[Technically the stuff he's made out of is dead, but still.]

Desco adopts a haughty, nose-in-the-air expression.

"The Final Boss graciously forgives you, mortal."

And then she drops it for a look of lively curiosity.

"How was that? Did Desco accurately convey a sense of smug superiority?"

Yeah, I've got a lot of experience with smug superiority, and that was pretty good. Could give the jerk I used to work for a run for his money.

[And wouldn't the old prince be annoyed that a demon that looked like a ten-year-old was better at smug superiority than him.]

"Yaaay!"

Desco beams happily at the praise.

"Oh! Desco has decided that you're interesting, so tell Desco your name!"

Well, I'm flattered. Call me Maugris.

[He's briefly tempted to ask if she's ever met Mr. Goode, but that conversation could go in a way that sounded like threats way too fast.]

And you're Desco, the final boss, right?

"Desco's full name is Death/Extermination Submersible Combat Organism Kazamatsuri!"

I can see why you have an acronym. That's... quite a mouthful. [And makes her sound like she's a submarine.]

Is Kazamatsuri supposed to indicate something, or is it just your last name? Sorry, I don't speak Japanese very well. [Translation: at all.]

"It's Desco's last name! The eternal proof that she is the beloved little sister of Big Sis!"

Ah, okay. Sorry, like I said, I don't speak much Japanese and I have trouble picking out names from other words.
