5th Whistle ["anon" text]

[Now those who know Blues, which probably isn't a lot of people, will find this post to be really really strange. More or less because he thinks he posted it under the guise of anon and well.

them tricksy pixies went and fixed that. So while he is very sure this was posted as anon? It ain't.]

So.

Say you have a machine, it's from your world but it has a flaw. One that you can't actually fix yourself because well. You can't.

It wouldn't go well if you tried, but getting someone else to repair it is a bit tricky. Because you don't want it to be changed too much, but you want it to be working properly. And there is the fact that you don't know any of the people who could fix it nor how good they are at what they do.

[wow, so rambly there get to the pooooooooooooint.]

I guess what I'm saying here is this; who here is good with machines?

Blues-san... are you all right?

Are you sure? That sounded serious. I know a lot of people who are good with machines if it's something, um... personal.

All right. But if you still need someone who's good with machines, you should talk to Ruri-san.

I'm not an expert with machines myself [at least, not anymore, now that the memories from the event have faded --] but I know someone who is really good with computers, if that would help you.

His name's Atsuro Kihara. And there's also Ruri-san, but Nano-chan mentioned her already.

"If its a computer or AI I've been trained to maintain and repair those, if its a hardware system perhaps I can find an engineer sir."

[It takes Rock a bit to figure out what to do here. He finally settles on responding textually, and keeping it locked - given the way this was worded, and how Blues has been acting, he's got a feeling that this probably wasn't meant to have his name attached to it.]

Blues - it's Rock.

If you'll let me, I'll have a look at whatever is wrong.

[He's got his hunches about what it is, going by the Taurus incident, but it's better to not assume.]

"Data storage or computer function?"

"Ultimately it depends on the error. Most are simple enough to fix if you have the proper tools. If its a memory core issue those are a bit more delicate but generally if you back up your data in a secure zone as well as remove the core while you repair it there is no corruption. Power supply ones are probably the simplest to fix. I'd need more specifics."

Now that's not true - dad programmed me to help out around the laboratory. I might not look it, but I know a lot about robotics.

Wouldn't you rather have someone who has some knowledge of our systems instead of a total stranger?

"That's fairly simple. Switch the computer core to a different power feed to insure the AI isn't tampered with and replace the faulty power system. Depending on the system it shouldn't take any longer than a few hours unless we are talking about a battleship or something else that has a non man-portable power supply.."

"AI maintenance and repair is my chief training. I've done it several times. The hardest part is making sure the AI's data core isn't altered, which is why you want to keep it powered on even when the body is shut down."
