[ Rika has played this game before. She's rolled the dice and left one world to go to another. Or at least, Furude Rika has. But she isn't that girl. She's her copy. A data copy, reflecting the thoughts and memories of one set of collected memories. A data copy who had settled down once and for all in a world all her own. So when she opens her eyes and finds herself stepping out of a bizarre dream, this Rika is actually mildly surprised. The modern cityscape is so strange to a girl from the 1950s and even her memories of Okinomiya compare to this place.

After walking around in a confused daze for a brief amount of time, Rika observes another person using their communication device. After a bit of trial and error, Rika figures out how to use her own watch. ]

Mii. Big Brothers? Rena? Mion? Are any of you there? [ She tests the waters in her "Furude Rika voice". While Rika may technically be sixteen years old now, her appearance does not entirely reflect that. So she is still comfortable pulling up bits of her twelve year old persona. This means sounding cutesy and innocent, even when her inner thoughts are coated in sarcasm and pessimism. ] Excuse me? Might I ask someone to better explain my situation? I seem to have become lost. What direction is Mayfield? My home is very close by, so I will be able to find my way from there. And I really should not be late for supper, or certain people may attempt cooking and "crackle crackle gooo" burn down the entire neighborhood. I rather like my new neighborhood.

[ In other words, no more living with Rena. And she won't be able to see any of her other 'family' either. To Rika, this is very disappointing. But not a matter she brings up. ]

A whole kitchen! Am I allowed to cook fish in the kitchen?

"If you buy fish at the markets I don't see a problem with cooking it. Why?"

Because I am very good at cooking fish! I would very much like that. If I have a kitchen and can cook fish then I will be wonderfully fine!

"This is a city in Japan so there are a fair amount of fish to be purchased. I'd imagine you just need to get cooking implements for that."

Japan?!

"Yes. The southern part, near the coast, but the barrier seems to have us boxed in so we can't get to the coast."

Japan... Then the people here... They're Japanese! And they speak Japanese... Japanese customs... Japanese food...

[ She's in a state of shock. For Rika the Data Clone, this is the first time she's really been to Japan. ]

"Yes. That is correct. There are onsen and takoyaki carts. Have you never been to Japan before, or just been away for a long time?"

I had... moved away! To America. I have missed it so much.

[ This is a pleasant surprise. She's already excited to run around and enjoy the culture she was supposedly raised in. ]

"Understood, well enjoy it I guess. We're somewhat stuck for now so its probably for the best."

Stuck? How stuck, exactly?

"So far no one has been able to get out of the city. There's some sort of barrier around it. Its a hard barrier so you can run into it, something I don't recommend doing."

A 'hard' barrier?

[ Not like Mayfield's loop. But she isn't going to rule out the possibility that this is just another digital town. In which case... She needed to prepare herself for the possibility of being data clone-ception. ]

I see. I will try not to hit it. I do not like bruises.

"A wise decision. There are several buildings along the edge, and erected barriers so its not a big concern."

You seem to know a lot. Have you been here for a long time?

"Around nine months. I was at the tail end of the first wave of people brought here."

You do not sound upset by this.

[ In Mayfield, most people seem kind of traumatized by just one month. Maybe this place isn't as bad. ]

"Getting upset over something you have little control over is counterproductive."

... That is true, isn't it? Even so, it is okay to be upset.

"And I'm not thrilled to be here, but its easier to just move forward instead of scream at the sky."

Well... I suppose that is so.

[ She still wants to scream at the sky. ]

So what do you do here?

"Mostly I maintain the Nadesico and watch for newcomers. I'm also looking over the computer networks in my spare time but that's just as a hobby."

I see... Is that all there if for people to do here?

"Some people have set up businesses. Others have gotten jobs here, some spend all their time in the park training. It really depends on the person."

That is all? Are there any expectations this place has for us?
