2nd Pokeball - A Completely Ridiculous Inquiry

When the feed snaps on, it reveals Kotoha, sitting calmly in a chair. She fiddles with the bow at the back of her neck for a few seconds before launching into a spiel.

"Hi, my name's Kotoha, and I have a question."

There's slight hint of urgency in her voice, and her blue eyes are intense as she leans forward slightly to ask her question.

"Why is everyone so pretty?"

...wait what.

"Is it, like, a requirement? 'You must be this sexy to save the world'? I mean, I know I'm pretty, but I've met people here that rank right up there with Elesa, and she's a supermodel."

She leans back and drums her heels against the floor.

"It's not fair! How am I supposed to get anything done when I'm constantly distracted like this?!"

She bounces to her feet at that and starts pacing, letting out a little growl of frustration.

"Urrrrr! Stupid teenage hormones!"

Because if she's going start wanting to shoot, better she learns around someone who isn't afraid of bullets.

"I still remember how to do ballet and pokemon battle tactics."

The latter is actually more useful here than he realizes.

Kotoha pauses for a second and starts laughing.

"Oh man, I just pictured you doing a pas de deux with my old ballet teacher."

You probably remember the one - the middle aged Pokefan with the Sewaddle and Purrloin.

"You wanted to see naked people?"

Whoops, there go most of her markings. What a time for this to happen.

"Somehow, I don't think that's a fashion choice that will catch on."

This statement is accompanied by a wry smile.

Notice how she is blithely assuming you're coming with her.

[Thank the Force she's used to politely ignoring younger admirers.]

It's kind of Jedi-specific. But when you've got a gender-mixed group of adolescent students whose emotional outbursts can cause serious property damage all living together, I can see the reasoning behind it.

"Not all, but most, yeah."

"That was just an unexpected bonus. I meant, literally, the reason I made this post was because I'm kind of not getting enough sleep with all the dreams I've been having."

"Friends do things together, of course!"

She's grinning now.

"And besides, don't you want to see what my team's capable of?"

Kotoha looks briefly thoughtful.

"...that's probably part of why it's a Pokemon journey instead of, like...a Pokemon school or something."

They sure did. Shura chuckles.

"You're bold! I like that. Sadly I don't really have good advice for your problem..."

If I ask you what a Pokemon is, I'm guessing you're going to ask what a Jedi is.

She blinks guilelessly.

"Isn't that a kind of fish?"

A quick pause before she laughs.

"I'm guessing it's the name of some sort of long-term training program or something, from what you've said?"

...wow this guy reminds her of a less emotional N.

"It's...not like it's optional? It's just how biology works."

Yeah, what are you gonna do.

"Well, I've got a date on Sunday, so who knows?"

Slight pause.

"Hey, what's your name, anyway?"

Sort of. The short version is that the Jedi are an ancient order dedicated to the responsible use of supernatural powers derived from the Force, an energy field that permeates the Universe.

Mostly we sit around and use the Force in a very careful, balanced manner, and sometimes go beat up people who are trying to take over the galaxy. Sometimes.

There's only two of us on this planet, though, so it's not something to really worry about.

Kotoha blinks.

"Huh. Well, the short version from me is that Pokemon are living creatures that coexist in harmony with humans as part of a mutually beneficial relationship. Mostly, we just sort of wander around the wilderness between towns, exploring and meeting new friends, but occasionally we go beat up huge megalomaniacal terrorist organizations."

A pause.

"Well, that last one is only me, though, so it's not something to really worry about."

[Fumi sighs.]

I have to admit I am curious. They remind me of the demons from my own world, but I get the feeling they're not quite the same.
