These past weeks Ruri has been working on figuring out how the comps work and how they can interface with her system and her nanomachines. Today, her ship's computer is using that research to prank her and the system. Throughout various times of the day, an eppisode of Nani Nazi Nadesico (ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6AymaTvfXE ), the Gekiganger III Movie (ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q59R_TLcH1E ) or this music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrEbxQ23F70 will randomly play then the line will go dead from Ruri's comp while she's still working on going over line after line of code, blissfully unaware.

"Omoikane, I'm still getting oddities with the language."

That 'I Want to Be Your Number One' thing you just broadcast? I guess it was a recording? Kind of slow for my taste, but very pretty.

How very odd, this must be the technical error post then.

"....That was a song I did for an idol competition when I was 12. I wasn't aware that it was here."

Either way, you've got some natural talent! Where were you earlier when I was asking for singers?

"I've been in my apartment or on my ship working with my computer. I don't get out very much."

[celebrity_commentator]

Oh, okay. I'm sure that works for you, but with a singing voice and stage presence like that, it's kind of too bad.

"Huh? Omoikane was the one who convinced me to do that. I think he probably was the one who showed the video too. I wonder why."

She ponders but sadly the thought of hiding inside a computer room all the time being bad for someone is completely over her head.

"He probably thinks you should get out more!" she said, smiling enough that Ruri would hopefully not take offense to that.

"Wait, Omoikane...he's not your Persona, is he?"

[electricyousei]

"That is something that he has said. That its unbecoming of someone of my stature to sit inside on a computer all the time, but things like that never seemed important."

[She shrugs a bit, expression still her usual deadpan.]

"No, Omoikane is my computer. Yurika keeps trying to get me out more too, she's my persona. But she was like that when she was alive too."

[celebrity_commentator]

"Um, I think if even your computer is telling you to get out more, it might be a good idea..."

Rise also had questions about what she'd just said about her Persona, but that could wait. It sounded personal.

"We've had this argument several times. Besides, other than grocery shopping and checking wireless points I haven't found much to do out."

[celebrity_commentator]

"Are you kidding? There's tons of stuff to do in this town. Aside from all the stores and arcades and stuff, there's tons of people to get to know from all kinds of different worlds," she said, "and someone always needs a hand with something, whether it's part-time jobs or saving the world, apparently."

[electricyousei]

"Minato and Yurika were good at finding things to do when out, but, they aren't here. I just see a lot of people going off in a lot of directions, and that never seemed all that appealing. That and no one asks for help. Maybe I've been in the wrong district."

[celebrity_commentator]

"Well, what do you do? Computer repair?" she asks. "It might be because we all get free tech support from the government, and you'd need to advertise to the natives, right?"

Say what you will about her, Rise's got a decent head for business.

"And if it's just a matter of needing a place to go, I'm sure I could help out."

[electricyousei]

"Back home I was a military asset that handled the pacification of rogue AIs and keeping a very high end one from going rogue. Later I handled electronic warfare. I'm not entirely certain either are needed here, but I'm also not entirely sure the government is completely trustworthy."

With that Ruri lets out a little breath.

And now Rise knows what Yu means by '......'

"I...see," she said, once she caught up to Ruri's meaning. It helped to take the sentences in reverse order, since the last was easiest to figure out. "I didn't know there were people who did that! I'm also not sure about the political situation here, but I guess unless you're worried about *Hyun-Ae-chan there's not a whole lot of need for your old job..."

"There are several AIs that have been brought here, and I'm less worried about Hyun-Ae-chan than I am worried for her. I offer space for them to fix themselves up."

She ponders a bit more and shrugs.

"As for my old job, probably not. But I'm not worried, I've had to hold several positions over the years. The two most difficult are even less relevant here."

"What were those?" she asked curiously. She probably didn't know how they'd be useful either, but it never hurt to ask.

"Nergal tried to brand me as an idol briefly, and technically I had duties as the first daughter of the royal family of Peaceland. They were both rather stressful positions that I wasn't really trained for."

[celebrity_commentator]

I know firsthand being an idol is stressful, but I can't imagine it being as stressful as...

...hang on, you're a soldier, a princess, and an idol?

[electricyousei]

She nods with her expression still completely blank.

"I'm not an idol anymore but I've done that yes."

[celebrity_commentator]

Man, no wonder you don't have much of a social life.

[She says, part of her subconscious realizing that the most tactful person in her peer group is the guy who dresses like a gangbanger.]

"I never really had one unless Yurika or Minato made me go out. I'm really just used to working."

[celebrity_commentator]

Well, you can't just stay inside forever, you know.

She looks completely and utterly confused at that statement knowing full well there were generations of Jovians who never left an artificial environment and TOTALLY missing the point.

"You mean a vitamin D deficiency?"

[celebrity_commentator]

*sigh*

Okay, where do you live? I can come over and give you a tour of the real world. It kind of seems like it's an emergency.

"I'm usually at the Nadesico, but I can make it back to Aquarius. I'll pack up my laptop."

Ruri blinks and ponders for a minute, then realizes she may be getting drug along for some sort of plot like Minato did. Something about getting in the sun. Well, at least the crew wasn't here to make things even more complicated.
